  1. You should also factor in refresh rate, as 3440x1440 can only do up to 100 Hz, while 2560x1440 can do up to 144 or 165 Hz depending on which you choose.
  2. Replace the 5200 RPM drive with a 7200 RPM one.
  3. Ultrawide because they are sexy af
  4. Just install the ethernet cables yourself, you don't need an electrician. Run the ethernet cables from a gigabit ethernet switch through the roof/walls into ports in the walls (assuming they're not solid concrete for example). Cut a hole in the wall and install a cheap port which you can then connect from behind and install into the wall. Not only are the parts dirt cheap, but you can see guides online to help you such as this one: http://www.wikihow.com/Install-an-Ethernet-Jack-in-a-Wall
  5. Might wanna edit your processor name to the correct one (which after clicking the link seems to be the i7 6700K).
  6. Yes, this overclock was achieved with stock voltage. It is the MSI edition of the GTX 970.
  7. My overclocked 970 (+200 core, +500 mem) is able to handle 1440p max settings at a steady 60 FPS in games such as Battlefield, Star Wars Battlefront, Fallout 4 and GTA V. So I'd say it is very capable of that resolution, but I can't speak for Syndicate as I do not own the game and therefore have not experimented with it.
  8. I couldn't imagine the amount of batteries you'd go through with that type of cooling solution... nvm
  9. I really wouldn't worry about "over-working" the fan. Those things last a long time, and you're highly likely to replace the entire card before even seeing the slightest effect of extreme use.
  10. What programs do you use for modelling and what games do you think you'll be playing? These will both influence which card you should use.
  11. G'day, So I recently acquired the Kingston HyperX Cloud II headphones, and of course I proceeded to check out their sound options in control panel. When I went into the Sound control panel, then Properties>Levels I found the usual volume slider, but another "Sidetone" slider I had never come across before. What does adjusting this Sidetone slider do? Thanks
  12. Either it's thermal throttling (slowing down under extreme heat to cause less additional heat) or your running settings which are out of your reach. Are you running the game in 4K? Though the 980 Ti is a 4K GPU, it still cannot handle extreme settings at 4K.
  13. You could try deleting folders from Steam>SteamApps>Common that aren't being used anymore (e.g. old game folders which you don't have installed anymore).
  14. Keep Steam on the SSD and put CS:GO and Dota 2 onto the HDD. Unless you really are desperate, you're better off saving the SSD space for other stuff (keeping in mind that as a SSD gets closer to getting completely full (80%+) it slows down.
  15. I have too installed Steam onto the SSD and pointed the download folder to my HDD. Speeds up the time for Steam to open by a tonne.
  16. I recommend placing all games, media and programs on your mass storage hard drive. However, any programs which are required for boot-up should be on the SSD, and directories such as the Desktop folder should be on the SSD. It's up to personal preference, but I find this to be the best way to maximise SSD space (unless you have a giant 500 GB or 1 TB SSD of which I am jealous).
  17. 650W is plently, and no it won't cause any issues at all. I'm using a 750W personally, and I only have 1 graphics card. You could lower the PSU, but you also want to allow for any potential addition of another graphics card (or a more beefy one) in the future.
  18. You might wanna invest the upcoming Christmas money you will undoubtedly receive into a new, more efficient CPU cooler (such as a Corsair H105).
  19. Try hitting the MemOK! button on the motherboard near the RAM slots.
  20. In future, you might wanna take a look at www.gpuboss.com as it has a lot of useful information.

    Headset Help

I use the Plantronics Gamecom 780 (same as 788 but different colour material inside earcups) and I absolutely love them. They sound fantastic, they're inexpensive, the mic is of very high quality and the build quality is excellent (legit, I've dropped mine so much and it doesn't even have a scratch). Only issue is you have to do a little extra work to get it to function correctly with virtual Dolby surround on Windows 10. Not too hard to do a little tinkering though, and for the value, it's worth it.
  22. I'm Steam all the way. I can't stand Uplay, and I only buy games on Origin if they're purely exclusive to Origin (e.g. Star Wars Battlefront).
  23. Your i3 will definitely not perform as well as an i5. The i3 only has two cores, whereas an i5 has 4 (all of which can be leveraged for more frames). It should be a no-brainer, the i5 will have a massive performance boost with the extra 2 cores. So, yes, make the switch.
