RadiatingLight got a reaction from kokosnh in NVMe SSD: do I need to take the sticker off before applying the heatsink?
You should be fine leaving the SSD sticker on.
You should, of course, remove the blue sticker on the heatsink that says "remove" all over it.

The Fairphone 5 would be a great option. It's easily repairable so he doesn't need a case.

Assuming you're in the US, your options are basically the Razr+ or Galaxy Flip.
(There's supposed to be a Razr non-plus coming sometime this year)

Personally I'm partial to Mr. Mobile on Youtube, and he does a good review for both these phones. Check it out and see if you like it.

That's part of the issue. With LTT Labs, they are billing themselves as the most accurate and authoritative source of benchmark data. Inaccuracies are excusable (somewhat) for entertainment content (i.e. if they test their weird car radiator loop wrong), but are not excusable if they're claiming to be the most accurate and correct benchmark source.

Cool. Someone makes allegations about a toxic work environment and a fanboy says we should ignore her because she is too ugly to be on an internet tech channel.

    LTT has some trash fans.

Yes. But you asked for *ANY* evidence.
In any case, the situation referenced, while unfortunately, is pretty detached from this current fiasco. Linus acted reasonably then, telling the community to back off, and the community was toxic instead.
It's a horrible thing, but unrelated to either the Billet labs, Accuracy, or Madison issues.

    Yep, you're right.
LTT didn't need to agree to send it back, but once they did, it should have been sent ofc.

They didn't. They said they no longer wanted the item back and wanted a monetary compensation after the auction because they feared the product was too far damaged.

    Backlash is intensified by:
    1. Linus' original response, which presented a misleading-at-best version of the timeline of when communications happened between Billet and LMG.
    2. The apology video being incredibly tone-deaf
    3. (most important for me) Madison's experience as an employee of LMG, which seems to indicate much deeper problems.

Agreed. They need to publicly acknowledge that the accusations were made and promise to provide more information if and when they are legally able (for instance, they may end up bound by their settlement to not discuss details if there is something that might embarrass Madison. Which I don’t mean to suggest there is, or that it would make whatever abuse she suffered ok. It’s just a foreseeable reason they may not be allowed to comment.)

But they absolutely cannot apologize to her if there is any possibility of future legal action, because an apology can be used as an admission. If the allegations are not totally accurate, they could lose a legal case even though they didn’t do what they were accused of. It sucks, but if they find they fucked up they should settle and apologize and fire the bad actors without delay.

IMO the ideal response is this:
WAN show on Friday: "We are dealing with the Madison situation internally, but will make no public comment at this time because Linus has done enough damage already and these are serious allegations with legal consequenses"
A few weeks (months if there's legal action?) down the line, when the situation is stable, LMG needs to release a statement with their version of events, ideally demonstrating proof (there *must* be emails or teams messages generated from the number of complaints Madison made, even if many agreements were verbal -- these must be found and shown to the public if LMG is to maintain credibility). Whatever mismanagement happened, LMG needs to take full accountability for. If heads need to roll, so be it. Zero-tolerance means zero-tolerance. Even if it means losing multiple otherwise very talented writers/editors/etc., it's necessary for LMG to maintain integirty.

What baffles me is that some people believe this is some super vindictive power play by Steve/GN to destroy LTT forever, or that everyone wants LTT/LMG's downfall if they aren't ardently supporting LMG completely. Or that Steve not asking for a right to reply (LMG being able to respond and have quotes included in the video) somehow invalidates Steve/GN's criticism of the dropoff in quality of LMG videos in recent history.

If Linus/LMG had put out a shorter, more tempered response yesterday with something to the effect of "We've heard some commentary in the hardware community about our videos. While we don't agree with everything stated, we take feedback seriously. Producing high quality, accurate, and entertaining content for you, our community, is our number one priority. Thanks for your patience, video in a few days.", there would be far far far fewer pitchforks and discontent.

Instead Linus rushed out a reply which at best unintentionally misled people about the situation with Billet Labs (language suggested that LMG and Billet had agreed on recompense before Steve's video aired, when LMG only offered to reimburse them for the prototype they auctioned by mistake AFTER Steve's video), and dealt in broad strokes of corporate language without addressing the individual criticisms within the video, and ignored how dirty the bad installation and refusal to re-review did Billet.

I'm hoping the reason that we haven't seen any replies from Linus or LMG today is because they are taking a serious hard look internally, having an internal discussion, and coming up with either a written or video reply that is more substantive than what Linus rushed to post after the GN video.

Very few people are french revolution style "Off with his head" demanding Linus be out or the media empire dismantled. Most people just want LMG to own up that there are quality issues and they are actually committing to fix them beyond corporate PR speak.Acknowledge the issues, acknowledge why they happened, and commit on what you're going to do to resolve them going forward. It's that simple.

It could take a few days. Maybe a week or two. But Linus rushed the clock with an (at best) halfhearted response that portrayed LMG as the victim. That accelerated the clock in the realm of public opinion unnecessarily...

The idea (from GN at least, some people take it further) was never to burn LTT to the ground -- rather it was to light a fire under LTT's ass and get them to take factual reporting and error handling more seriously.

What's happening now (mostly) is exactly what's intended. There's certainly a fire lit under Linus/LTT, but it's hardly their downfall.
With a semi-reasonable reaction from LMG this could be fixed.

Hey Linus, I've been watching since you were working at NCIX and Luke was called Slick. I've been loving your content and you helped me build my first PC... and you completely fucked up, this response is so stupid. With the complete understanding that there are complexities and management is hard, you guys need to upload a video and own up FULLY to everywhere that you fucked up also you need to slow down video production, stop spreading LMG too thin, and work on quality. I can't call myself a fan of LMG until you address these things.
