Shadowman got a reaction from Ben17 in New CPU: Clean install windows?
Thanks, yea with the motherboard when I changed it a few years ago I did a fresh windows install because drivers were for the old one. But I do understand maybe that was not necessary either as i could have just deleted all the drivers for the old motherboard.

Hi, sorry will sound like a silly question but need to be sure. If your just changing/upgrading only the CPU should you do a clean installation of windows also? or is that not necessary?

The latest I know on the Intel cascade x cpu's is that they are due for release tomorrow 25th November. But I don't khow how Intel or any manufacturer for that matter works when they give a release date but you can't see any for sale online?

You no what, I been staring at that Black Ice Nemesis 480GTX for a while know  and the good thing is my case can take it and the fact I have a 480mm radiator drop in mount for my Caselabs SM8 case. To be honest might as well go all out instead of another 360 get a 480

Shadowman reacted to W-L in Mayhems Blitz Kit Help Water White After 5 Drains?
Ok you shouldn't have a problem then. If there was residual Part 2 and X1 mixed together the biocides and anticorrosives in the MayehmsX1 must have been what caused that frothing or foaming to occur.

In any case it seems that everything is sorted out, give it a good couple flushes with the de-ionized water, if it doesn't come back and the PH test is good you should be alright to fill it with the Mayhems X1.

Shadowman reacted to done12many2 in Overclocking No BSOD But PC Reboots, Getting Stable?
You're more than likely hitting the default power limits of the motherboard.  Simply increase them and the reboots should stop happening.  Bare in mind that it also means that the limits were preventing your CPU from hitting max performance at the given clock/voltage so expect temps to rise a little at the same clocks/voltage.  This is due to the fact that your CPU is actually hitting full load now.

If you need any further help with this or help with anything else x299 related, just ask.  I have a 7900x / x299 Rampage Apex myself.

    You're welcome man.

As for mine, temps are great for a 10 core running at 4.9 GHz with 4 cores boosting to 5 GHz.  My chip is delidded and like you've said, I have a pretty big loop.  I'll attached a RealBench stress test run for temps.

I can send you the BIOS text file.  It covers every single setting in my BIOS, but is a lot to chew on if you haven't been through one before.

Couple of things.  VCCIN otherwise known as CPU Input voltage on Asus boards runs higher on the Apex than what is reported.  Get yourself a DMM and measure voltage at the ProBelt on the board.  ~1.81v to 1.85v should be more than you'll ever need.

Current capability looks perfect.  I also increase temp limit to 136 to get that out of the way as well.

I run LLC on AUTO (see previous comment about VCCIN/CPU Input Voltage).

Mesh OC and memory are a pretty huge area for improvement with x299.  I run mesh at 3.1 GHz and memory at 4000 MHz c16-18-16-36 1T with pretty tight secondaries. Mesh and memory are perfectly stable at these speeds and confirmed with HCI memtest to 1500% +.

Keep pushing it man.  It's a great platform.

Thanks, really appreciate it. Wow see you have 5 x EK 360mm rads just out of interest what temps are you getting with your i9 7900x at full load and is it delidded? Also if you don't mind what settings do you have on your motherboard am still a novice when it comes to overclocking the only things I changed are:
    CPU ratio 4.6GHz,
    CPU Override Voltage 1.13v,
    CPU Input Voltage 1.90v
CPU Current Capability which is at 240%
CPU Load-Line Calibration at level 4

    that's about it

Shadowman got a reaction from Changis in Please Help! water temperature HOT!!!
Ok know I look like a REAL GOOF!!!   this is what happens when you don't read instructions. The thermometer has different settings  for different thermocouples it has types like K/J/T/E/N/R I had it set on the WRONG type   my thermocouple is type K. Anyways after running Aida64 for about 15 minutes water temperature was at 40c I hope this is ok? but the fact still remains like mentioned before fittings, water block are hot even the radiator is blowing hot air.

Shadowman reacted to Jurrunio in Pre-Binned CPU's? Lower Voltage?
Binned chips (CPU and GPU both applies to this) do run higher clock speed and/or lower voltage stable than non-binned ones, but I don't think Intel do this and mark it on the box. Basically bad chips turned into locked slow quad cores like the 7400 while good ones turned into 7600k. "pre-binned" word is likely used by the seller make the product more appealing.

Yes sorry should have mentioned that and another very important information i actually already have a EK XE 480 in push the case is the Phanteks Primo. Am currently water cooling a i7 5960x and 2x Titan X's Sli (not pascal titans) this will be my  2nd radiator i will be adding.

I've got 25 of the F4-120ER fans in my case and they are pretty fantastic if you ask me.

Thanks to the "Extended Range", they are able to drop down to roughly 350 to 400 RPMs during system idle and are completely silent.  I'm talking dead silent.  I can hear that data passing through my SATA cables more than the 25 F4-120ER fans.

I have a lot more radiator surface so the F4's at max speed are more than enough, but you may want to consider the F5's.  Be prepared for a slightly higher minimum speed and more noise on the top end, but you should be rewarded with more pressure and flow.

Yes. They might sound slightly different if the internals have changed but performance will be the same.

Not necessarily theses days fluids are pretty good in terms of lifespan to what it was back then, but as for distilled water you will want a biocide specifically Petra's (clear) PT nuke as the regular (blue) copper sulfate PT nuke can sometimes cause issues with the nickel.

Just to give you an idea I've used Mayhems Pastel white for over a year nearing 18months without any problems.

Mayhems makes some of the top stuff currently, similarly with EK. If you just want to keep the fluid as long as possible with the lowest possible maintenance getting a transparent fluid like EKWB EVO or Mayhems X1 fluid wouldn't be a bad idea.

The current top end pre-mix do not gunk up blocks (EK-Evo, Mayhems X1 etc). And perform within a degree or two of distilled water.

Distilled water also has a great deal of other issues that I would never personally recommend using it.
