  1. I found folder "C:\Windows\Microsoft Antimalware" on my pc while looking for windows defender scan logs. Upon reviewing the logs therein I found the following warning listed several times "Missing definitions file in 'C:\mpam-fex64.exe'". The system has very recently had full re-install of windows and its been updated to most recent drivers & windows updates (10 home v. 21H2 os build 19044.1949) . I haven't installed many programs or other AV software on this fresh install so I'm not sure why there would be any issues with missing files in windows security. Note: for the re-install I deleted old partitions, reformatted drive before starting the new install. Prior to re-install of windows I had 0 reported issues at least per Malwarebytes & defender & MRT. While post re-install I've done sfc/scannow and found nothing to fix, several full and offline defender scans and found nothing, checked many times for updates on windows update & in the windows defender - both say up to date. Reviewing files under "C:\Windows\Microsoft Antimalware\Definition Updates" there are 3 folders, 1) updates with only 1 file "MpKslDrv.sys", 2) Backup folder is empty, and 3) "{0F275060-5A6B-464A-AAD3-817020D61303}" has 5 files in it, is this normal? What could have caused this? How should I repair? Thanks.
  2. Recently found a new process running in task manager. I can't find any solid information on it online, save for a few lesser known webpage mentions. It has elements that seem legit but I did just have issues with a trojan detection and fix issue. I've since done a fresh install of windows so it should have resolved but now I found this new process that seems like its trying too hard to look like a legitimate Windows process, while signed supposedly by MS I can't find much about it and I've never seen it before on any of my other pcs. Now the system is up to date and I've done full & offline windows defender scans, no alert or issues but if defender is compromised then that means little. Other details about this process I see on my pc: low resource usage at least while I'm using the pc. location: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Platform\4.18.2205.7-0 size: 166 KB (170,744 bytes) Microsoft Windows Publisher sha256 ‎June ‎20, ‎2022 12:02:17 AM Any information or usable advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
  3. Does your mobo have some kind of 'safe boot' switch on it? I recall my old MSI motherboard had one that was meant to help ensure the PC booted after a bad overclock - when it was switched to on then the CPU would be restricted to a much lower speed & manual overclock would not apply.
  4. 100% New build - I'm planning out the component purchases to acquire in upcoming sales. Essentially trying to minimize the cost of the build while meeting all core requirements.
  5. Would these parts be able to run 4K res. monitor at roughly 60FPS consistently? Or do I need to look into more expensive parts - in which case would GPU upgrade alone do it ex. 1070ti or would I also need to spend more on a CPU/mobo ex. i5 8600K? - Assuming higher game settings - though not necessarily maxed out on all games - Games will be mixed genres (so some more cpu dependent vs others) and assume at least some will be current and up coming triple A games - Assume full tower build with 16GB RAM, NVMe SSD, aftermarket cpu cooling & non-ref cards - so there shouldn't be other system component limitations. I will use the PC for work & other things too but none of it requires much performance power at all relative to gaming. Thanks.
  6. Nice could really use an upgrade. I got a Gamdias Keyboard & Logitech mouse... no current headset last one broke.
  7. Definitely would be a massive upgrade over my old r7 265 ...could finally get some decent frame rates in new games.
  8. Looks great, would be very useful to have something that is highly portable yet quality enough to use in home theater. I'd probably take it out to the family cottage on weekends to watch movies & shows at night and avoid having to buy 2 TVs and leaving one out there...
  9. This would be primarily for gaming ex. BF4, SC2, and general purpose work ex. spreadsheets, reading PDF docs, & scans of documents, word docs etc..
  10. Hi, I have $500 in best buy gift card and want to get a new monitor to replace my ancient 21"... I found the following 3 choices for that price range they all have different strengths and weaknesses but I'd like opinions on each and recommendation as I have 0 experience with any of these. -Acer 28" 4K 60Hz 1ms resp.time - TN Model #: CB280HK bmjdppr -Samsung 31.5" 60Hz Curved 1080p 4ms resp.time - VA Model #: S32E590C -BenQ 27" 144Hz 1080p 1ms resp.time - TN Model #: XL2720Z Would any of the above even really be worth it over say a much cheaper older model like for example. BenQ 27" 60Hz 1080p 1ms resp.time - TN Model #: RL2755HM Or Would it be worthwhile to ad an extra $300 of my own money to get something like Philips 40" 60Hz Widescreen 4K Model #: BDM4065UC
  11. Okay so I got a couple of hours to do some work on it yesterday and today....the temps get really hot under load for a dual 120 rad liquid cooling unit at least according to MSI CC & CPUID HWmonitor. Socket temps fluctuate around 50 C (on MSI CC & CPUID) and core temps average around 55 C with Max spike to 60 C (on CPUID HWM) - this in short time I had to test. Today I borrowed a CM Evo 212 and did some quick testing but confusingly the temps are basically identical at idle, med. load and heavier loads as the Antec 1250... but that doesn't really answer what is wrong the temp readings or the Antec 1250. If the temps are right then the antec cooler isn't doing better job vs a standard evo 212 - which I don't think should be the case right? The cooler isn't making any strange noises (no clicking or grinding sounds) but maybe a pump failed - anyone know how to check pumps for Antec AIOs? (without voiding your warranty) thanks.
  12. Hi, Okay so I got an Antec 1250 on sale a couple of months ago to try improve my fx6300 temps and noise (latter goal failed miserably). When I first installed the CPU temps on UEFI BIOS, MSI Command Center, AMD Overdrive and CPUID HWmonitor all seemed aligned and really good e.x. 24 Celsius Idle & <40 C load @ 4.1 GHz, but all of a sudden recently temps are a) much higher - at idle for example getting around 35-38 C and I'm occasionally getting really messed up temps e.x. 0 C min core temp & 95C max core temp in CPUID - during mild usage, while Overdrive thermal margins jump up and down 10-15 degrees in a split second whenever CPU usage changes even a little. Simple things like youtube 4k streaming of LTT vids are causing cpu to reach upwards of 42-45 C and it is not uncommon when I try to do light multitasks temps will rise to low 50s with random 60 degree noted. Interestingly all 3 programs (MSI CC and overdrive using their record functions) keep the temp steady around 40-45 C while heavy gaming (BF4, Mechwarrior,COD AW) for several hours. The Antec 1250 is installed at top of case, both fans work (no strange noises), my case is Bitfenix Ronin and has 4 case fans currently set up as intakes, and I'm using most recent version of all software. I am running windows 7 and I currently have the Antec software set to 'silent' as it was before the sudden temp changes... I've tried re-seating the cold plate, moving the radiator to make tube bends as light as possible, cleaning with air duster, uninstall and reinstall software, Virus Scan, added a 4th intake fan (I had old spare) and still my temps are about same. In BIOS at start up CPU temp is low 30s Celsius which seems high considering when I first installed it the temps read mid-low 20s. Another thing to note is that the mild overclock was there before the problem and resetting stock clock/voltage etc. has almost no effect on the temps (especially at load - they are basically identical). Lastly not sure if relevant but I've noticed recently using resource monitor that 4k streaming really puts huge strain on my CPU and its kinda glitchy to watch - I disabled all extensions/addons in both Mozilla & chrome but it still happens that CPU gets upwards of 90-95% usage - which would explain increase in heat. However again none of these problems happened before the strange temp increase. Not sure if anyone has same or similar config has experience with this. Any Ideas on how to solve would be appreciated. Thanks.
