it's been some time since I last posted something, but I have been very busy with my newest build. This time I spared no expenses and created a video series to document the build. 
Maybe there are some other german folks here who can actually understand what I am talking. For the rest of you, there are at least some pretty pictures.

Brace yourself. We don't know what is coming. Bad things are suspected but not yet proven.

Phone activation can be forced with some commands.
cmd.exe (run as admin)
slmgr -upk [this erases the key]
slui 4 [now the key can be entered again]
slui 4 [phone activation is forced]
This worked for me, but I still wonder how often you can do this.

you don't grind the processor, just flatten the integrated heat spreader, the metal plate that sits on top of the processor. you can also de-lid it if its not soldered on.  but for 1-2C, unless your going for crazy high OC, it's generally not worth worrying about.

I can report the system is running. Because it is my only rig I had to stick everything together. It will be a work in progress for some time. 3D Mark gave me 9200 points on Firestrike on stock clocks. I will post pictures as soon as all my editing software works. Phone pics are just not my thing. ^^ Overclock will be done as well.

I planned 2000€ including the water cooling. As it looks now, I will have some spare money left to buy something nice for my gf, who has to stand all the tech talk over the planning- and build phase. :lol:

after thinking about building a black/yellow MPower+Lightning rig I have decided to save some bucks und go the less colourful path with my machine.

I will use this topic for my personal log. Suggestions are very welcome.
 
Other parts, that are not listed will be reused from my current machine: Corsair 760i Power Supply, some Noiseblocker Fans and, for some time until I manage to watercool, my H80 Hydro Series Cooler. Also HDDs and 2 more SSDs for storage.

Just a quick picture so you can see the dimensions of the case as well as the black/sliver colours.
Sadly, the brownness of the mainboard is way more pronounced then in any of the press shots.

 
EDIT: The EVGA Classified should arrive today.

Not only fun, but usefull as well. I did not know that and was therefore favouring premixed coolants over destilled water.

Maybe it is best to buy a stock 780 and fit an after market cooler yourself. "Prolimatech MK-26 black" or something in that direction.
