well i dont no what op has now so i dont no what can be reused. ied have to look a prices agane to find a good price to performance. last time i did this it was a rayzen 2600 and an rx 480...
even a rx 480 will be $300-$400 probably about 50% to 70% more then its worth but when prices drop you still get $150 for it... instead of spending $1000+ on a gpu for then it to be worth $200 when the new stuff pushes the price down. buts that imo if you think there value in laptops then w/e i own a laptop and it was $1500 and it thermal throttles.. has a 1060m witch is between a 1050 ti and an 1060 in profrmace. dont remember the cpu... dose have rgb thow so there that...
So your complaining about a 6 year old product being bad value. Guy we are in 2022 not 2016. The RX 6800M isnt that far behind a desktop 6700XT. Lower tier GPU's arent that much slower either. Not to mention if your shoving $1500 towards a poorly built product thats on you. Go ahead right now and try building a $800 PC with modern 2022 pricing. Then go look at gaming laptops and come back with the results. Your example is literally from 2018, far before the market conditions making laptops worth it ever became a thing

My oh my what strange times we live in. You know, a gaming latop being cheaping then a gaming desktop...
Trust me its hilarious. $649 5600H+1650 combos were all over the place while your average 1650 sold for half that price alone. The 6600M and 3060 mobile are decent for the price points they are in and id recommend them instead of way overpaying a scalper for a half decent GPU

Isn't nearly $500 considered cheap now days? For a GPU that is?
Basically, Roughly what a 6600XT can be found for. Hell a 1650 can be found for $300 which is incredibly depressing. Thats why I recommend laptops in this market. Until the prices come down they are an outright better buy

who give a fuk about msrp nothing has ever sold at msrp...
My guy the 10 series wasnt that long ago and neither was the 20 series or the RX 5000 series. Those did sell at MSRP until the crypto boom and later the shortages started happening. The point im making is that currently laptops are superior value due to the market we are in. You cant find a GPU at any reasonable price. Try and make a desktop for a $800 to $1200 budget and come out realizing your way overpaying for a GPU when you can grab yourself a laptop for the same price and come out with better hardware with decent availability

why would you even suggest an $1349 gpu and an $450 cpu... makes no scene. you dont need top tear to game...
Said GPU is that expensive due to the market, MSRP is $479 which makes sense with a $450 CPU. My point being is that because of the market laptops are superior. Good luck even getting a GPU for a budget of $800. On the laptop front however? You can pull a 1650 and a 5600H for less than that. If it wasnt for how terrible the market currently is laptops would be an inferior choice to a desktop

lap tops are shit... thermal throttle and die with in a few years... and they cost alot...
My 5 year old Envy X360 and 6 year old Acer would like to differ. First of all good luck even trying to get a 6700XT+5800X combo for the price of the 5900HX+6800M combo. Secondly laptops last far far longer than given credit for if you maintain them like you would a PC (Dusting, thermal paste replacement, etc). Expensive? That I do agree on however in this market that isnt something you can complain about when everything is expensive

Caps lock works while i can only assume its posting, but stops after a few seconds
Cannot get it to display on an external monitor or tv
Currently assuming its a disconnected display ribbonDoes sound like it posts then crashes somewhere, If it isnt displaying to an external display something is wrong but it does look to be a loose cable
-
Just buy a laptop, Genuinely the performance is finally there and the pricing is reasonable. I personally bought one when my search for a 6700XT went nowhere for months and decided instead to get a 6800M based laptop. Its already been 2 years with this shortage and any real meaningful rampup of GPU availability isnt coming any time soon till maybe 2023 or 24
-
Heres what you can immediately do to figure out if it has life, See if the caps lock even responds to input as it looks like it has some light on it. If it does respond to input its safe to assume it booted to some kind of OS. Plugging it into a TV is also another way of figuring out if it even posted in the first place. If neither of those work then the laptop is not posting. If it does post then it honestly looks like either a dead display or a loose cable
-
Would you mind trading down some performance for roughly 85-90% of the performance of a 3080? Because you can score a 6800M for far cheaper and it performs like a charm

That does not look like GTA5 bro LOL
Did you add some graphics mods or something? Is this FiveM?
R* Editor, This is still pure GTAO just heavily edited screenshot thanks to the R* editor. The game gets a heavy graphics upgrade when within the editor (GPU usage dramatically rises) and hence why it looks far from what you see in game
-
Like a drug you cant quit, GTAO still has nothing you can really compare it to

Looks like my gamble with the 64 GB model paid off. SSD upgrade it is!

So far the i5 11400 (at MSRP) and older 10400 have been solid deals. When it comes to Intel it really depends on the pricing of the motherboard you have to pair such CPU's with. If you can try scoring a 10th gen CPU as those tend to go for a decent discount (Such as the 10700/K)

Unfortunately not, It used to be on GeForce Now however R* pulled it from that service so your SOL

He's talking about the G-Sync module in a desktop display...
Literally impossible on a laptop with a Radeon DGPU. Its a Freesync Premium pannel in the first place

Try something like Custom Resolution Utility.
https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-Custom-Resolution-Utility-CRU
Don't deviate from what your panel cannot do, you will end up breaking something. You dont get it, The problem is that the display does not play at all with the driver. It is straight up confused on what it is. Hence why its stuck at 60 Hz. All it knows is that it supports Freesync but at the wrong values (60-60 hz instead of 60-300 Hz)

Can you add a custom display resolution/refreshrate?
If so, try that..Tried and doesnt do it. With day 1 OEM drivers Radeon Settings actually detects the display properly and has a bunch of the fields in the software filled. Updating the drivers causes it to not recognize it at all
-

What are the options for the refreshrate in the Radeon Drivers?
Can you change the refresh rate?
Only 60 Hz when updated. Under the day 1 OEM drivers it allows for 300 and 60 Hz

There should be a URL for it on the laptop manufacturer site.
I meant that as a statement. I was able to revert back to the OEM drivers. But the problem is that even Asus's updated drivers give me the same problem. Anything that isnt day 1 drivers completely ruins the refreshrate
