Both use Asetek's design, so in theory it should be the same mounting kit. But I would make sure the unit works properly first.
Power it on with some fans on it and use something like a hair dryer to heat the contact plate up and see if heat comes out of the radiator.

Before people jump on the hate train for self driving cars, there's a number of factors to keep in mind.

They didn't use any neural networks currently in use in a self driving car. Instead they trained their own.

They trained it on a relatively small set of data(the LISA sign database), and even then only used a very small amount of that data (500 pictures of each sign type).

All of the signs it was trained on were in pristine condition. It was not trained on any vandalized or defaced signs.

They used a white box model for designing their stickers, where they had access to the trained model and engineered a sticker based on that. This allowed them to design the threat at high speed. While it may be representative of such a threat being possible (since you can probe the system to verify your threat before implementing it), it would also be *much* harder and longer in a real world attack done by probing the model.

They used a smartphone camera with their image recognition model to simulate a car, not any actual in production car model. This means one camera instead of multiple cameras, and a much simpler model for inferencing compared to the models ran by self-driving car supercomputers.(edit: also no radar/lidar or infrared).

All in all this research paper indicates that such a threat is possible, but not that it's even a viable threat on existing self-driving cars that have a *much* wider and more diverse training pool.

Super1337victim reacted to GoodBytes in Worse Noctua fan quality after moving production to China
The problem with many things manufactured in China, is that the manufactures making a product for a company will met specifications at first... once everything passes, then they'll quickly find ways to cut corners... for example they'll replace less the plastic molds, they don't re-calibrate as often their machines, paint or pigments in plastic are cheaped out with different manufacture or reduce the amount put in. In other words, they try and maximize profit on the backs of their clients.

So in other words, Noctua gain profits as it cost less to manufacture in China, and can continue to justify their high price due to their reputation and brand value. But if they don't invest a lot in quality control, by verifying everything that is being outputting from Chinese factories than they'll quickly noticed that their fan will turn into those cheap dollar shop fans just colored... washed out beige ('cause they'll cheap on that too). So it is a constant battle with the manufactures. the moment Noctua will turn their back, cheaping out will start.

The big question is.... is it worth it? Well, clearly who ever is in charge think so.
In other words, this could be the end of Noctua, unless they are willing to go through the trouble, and all their projected numbers in profit will cut significantly, due to all the returns and constant battle with the manufacture sending teams to pretty much live there to QA everything that is produced (they won't, they go in batch sadly so bad apples will still reach consumer hands).

And what complicates thing further is the language barrier. Foxconn no problem.. they are so large that they have the staff, but the fans are certainly not made by them. Noctua probably went with smaller manufactures, as Foxconn order are only in massive amounts. So getting people speaking Austria or English to Chinese is less likely that they have (Very few people speak English in China. Full time professional translators are often required). So communication between the 2 is definitely difficult, and miss understanding due to translation issues is an issue as well to battle.

My understanding from reading this is that you don't need to keep all the tabs for a program in the same window.  Similar to how in most tabbed browsers, you could easily just drag the tab off into it's own window.

Super1337victim got a reaction from Pendragon in Laptop for game development?
I think there is nothing wrong with aiming for a gaming device. They are packed with power and try to be competetive for normal consumers.
Some "professional" devices are not much faster but expensive. The  "gamer" target group is a big thing for companies and therefore there is a lot of competition.

IMO it´s legit to cut on GPU power (not saying you should get no dedicated) but you don´t need to kill frames in the dev process. A decent GPU will do fine.
If you want code/ 3D Model/ Texture and work with the engine editor at the same time you should opt for 16GB Ram. An SSD with enough space for your Work relatied apps and a small workspace. Huge amounts of raw assets could be on a HDD.

But you should know what your preferences are.
battery life, size, displaytype, maybe color.

I think the Asus ROG Models are a bit gamery but they offer great premium performance.

    EDITs:
    -------------------------

My biggest personal issue with notebooks as a dev mashine is the displaysize. I hate to tab around. I like to have as much space as possible for the tools.

    IDEAS:
something like: https://www.amazon.ca/Asus-GL502VM-DS74-Traditional-Laptop-15-6/dp/B01MS14CQH/ref=sr_1_5?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1490698477&sr=1-5  fine config but you don´t need G-sync

http://www.reflexnotebook.ca/sager-notebooks/sager-display/sager-15display/sager-np8155.html  at least opt in a SSD and 16 GB Ram

https://www.amazon.ca/Acer-Nitro-Gaming-Laptop-Windows/dp/B015XBK5NM/ref=sr_1_sc_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1490700708&sr=1-2-spell&keywords=acer+vn+nitro if you are fine with less premium

You should do some research yourself. Compare some Notebooks and ask if you have specific questions.

That's one way to look at it. But think about it, Toyota gets real celebrities (no offense Linus) to do these sorts of ads all the time. The fact that they got Linus to do it means LMG is moving up in the world. What that means for us, as fans, is more of the stuff we love. The LMG guys are always pushing themselves to get better. Look at where this all started with the NCIX videos, those were rubbish (no offense, again ) compared to the stuff that LMG is putting out.

To re-use the DDR3 RAM go for the X4 880K or some form of Intel Haswell i3, such as the i3-4170.
Motherboard - any ITX motherboard that suits the CPU.

Selling the GTX 980 really doesn't make much sense especially with the $ losses of selling used hardware, I believe the i3 6100 on a mATX H110m would give you the best decent performance result, a Xigmatek Calibre 600W XCP-A600 80PLUS is a an extremely cheap PSU that would still handle the system well enough, for case find any that fits your taste and the hardware.

Now if you still want like the smallest rig possible the right way to go would be a
ASRock Intel LGA 1151 Mini-ITX H110M-ITX DDR4, in a Zalman ZM-M1 Case it would be very small but there would be RAM issue since you'd have to go for DDR4, but considering this would improve greatly your future proof already going with a DDR4 maybe it's worth considering, this machine could be futurely upgraded and will work as a "high end" console you can place besides the television and have a xbox controller connected to it.

Super1337victim got a reaction from wolfenstein in First time PC Build Advice
    Hi, Wolfenstein
First, you should clearly think about your main goals on a rig update. What are your daily tasks?  If your main goal is to increase your fps in newer to "coming  soon"  titles you should go with a last gen GPU. New Mainboards are a choice of features to me. Amount of USB3 Headers, m.2 slots, special OC features or BIOS fancurves.  CPU bottlenecks are more feared than actually happening. i5 6600K should be fine. Even the mot last Gen i5s won´t let the fps drop brutaly. The linked video should help you out on that.
The recomandations on a more powerful PSU are not clear for me.

There are PSU calculators out there (e.g. by BeQuiet) that consider < 500Watt (423Watt to be exact) for a rig with:
    CPU: Core i7-6700K
    GPU 1: GeForce GTX 1080
    Drives: S-ATA 3x
    RAM: 4x
    FAN: 4x
    Watercooling: 1x pump, 3x fans
    OC: yes

RAM and SSD are nobrainers. Buy what you like and fits your Budget.

If you have any further questions, feel free to ask.
