Variable refresh rate only works when your fps is below the max refresh rate of the monitor.
If your FPS is above then it will just be like any other regular 60hz monitor.
Variable refresh rate cannot make a monitor panel faster, only slower.

Well, spend what you are willing to spend on a PC. I saved for about 4 years for the PC in my signature that I just ordered, and it's worth it for me because I do pretty much everything on my PC. I do video editing, gaming, programming, etc. Think to yourself about if it's worth it to spend this much on a computer and how much use you will get out of it. Good luck

Located in Canada.  Want a cheap android phone that is capable of running Pokemon Go. I have a iphone 4 and It is showing it's age and I would like to switch to the Android platform.  Ideally my budget is under 200, but can go to 250 if it will be a much better experience.  I've looked around the used market and people want 200 for bricked iphone 5's..... what would you recommend?  The phone needs to be unlocked and able to work with Telus.  Thanks in advance, this is kinda a repost from yesterday but did not get many responses.....

AD700x, would be my personal choice.  The GAME ONE is basically a 558 (maybe 518 can't remember) I believe with a boom mic, not sure of it's quality however.  Basically the 700's provide more flexibility as you don't need to always have a boom mic on them, so that would be my choice.

To answer OP, wait a month and we will all know which card has a better PPD.  Until then, really just pointless speculation.

OK. When freesnyc is enabled, any FPS between around 80-144 (or whatever he said in the video) will look silky smooth and there will be no tearing. With freesync disabled (i.e when you have a Nvidia GPU) anything really close to 144 will look good.

I would like to see a more detailed review of this case, perhaps a build log in it?  I was interested in their 600, but this looks even nicer nice.   I do however think that they are over pricing the Pro model, and would much prefer a version of the non pro (no charger or LED) with a side window for a reduced price point (say like $200 for window non pro and ~$160~ for the non pro w/o window panel and keep $250 for the Pro variant). I was hoping that this thread could be used to see if there is enough demand for them to do a thorough overview by the LTT Forum community...

Without delving into a massive argument, not sure I want that. Playing the MCC made me realise just how slow it was back then compared to now.. Not sure I could go back.

Capacity is usually considered more than the operating frequency.

You will have a very bad computing experience if you run out of RAM -- and data starts getting stored / swapped into your SSD or HDD (i.e. pagefile).

Higher frequency memory will have it's performance benefits, but the gain starts to level off as frequency increases.
Think of an logarithmic plot frequency on the x-axis, and performance benefit on the y-axis.

When it comes to iGPUs, system ram is used as pseudo-VRAM so higher speeds can come in handy, and by especially decent margins. However I would still rather go for more ram than more ram speed, personally as a chrome user with 30+ tabs open always.

CeremonialSnips reacted to Steel_Wind in Define R4 and Watercooling AIO?
Yes. I have both the R4 and R5 and it is awkward as all hell to install in the R4 up top. You should be aware that a 240mm cooler may not even fit in your case, depending on your mobo's placement of its 4/6/8/12 pin to the mobo's cpu power. Yes, it's that touch and go and a real pain in the ass. Sorry about that news. FWIW, the Asus Gaming Pro Z170 does fit in a Define R4 with a 240mm H100iGTX cooler up top. But only JUST.  You might also have issues as well depending on the height of your heat spreaders on your RAM. They were fine with Corsair Vengeance DDR 4 3200  but just... FYI.

The good news is that the Define R5 shifts the top fan placement from on centre to move the fan mounting holes outwards off centre, giving you WAY more room and a H100iGTX installs MUCH easier.

I built my own system in a R5 in January. I installed a H100iGTX in it up top and had zero issues. I loved the case. I built my eldest son's system in March and decided to go for an R4 for his as it was on sale, saved me $50 and the aesthetics were almost identical. "Why spend the extra $50", I thought.

    How wrong I was.

Short Strokes: There is a DAMNED GOOD REASON to spend the extra $50. The build experience in the R5 over the R4 is superior in every possible way. All of the little things -- and some big things -- make the R5 a vastly superior case. If you have the money, get the R5 instead. Really, it's worth it. Building in the R4 is frustrating as all hell in comparison to the R5. It is a night and day experience.

Now, at the end of the day, the new Skylake system fit in the Define R4 and looks great and it works well. It's not that it cannot work. It can and does (depending on your parts). But the comparison to the R5 is not a favourable one.

If I had it to do all over again, I think I probably would have just built my son's system in a Deepcool Dukase (which fits both 240mm and 280mm easily up top) instead of the R4 and saved an extra $50 off of the R4 -- or paid more and bought an R5 or NZXT H440.  Either way, up or down in price will make for a build that would have made me happier than the R4 I got "on sale".
