  1. I use the sennheiser PC37x and 6xx from massdrop/sennheiser
  2. I have two pairs of sennehiser headphones that both make creaking sounds from the hinges (the sound comes even if i dont play anything). does anyone know of a good source for figuring out how to safely disassemble headphones so I can oil these hinges or if anyone knows of another way to solve this issue. Honestly I am surprised to find that more people do not have this issue.
  3. Creaking. it sounds like it comes from where the cushioned cups meet the headphones, although I could be wrong
  4. So I have started to notice that my sennheiser 6xx and pc37x both creak pretty bad. small movements from moving my head slightly or talking causes them to creak. It doesnt bother me too much but the noise is actually getting picked up by the mic on the pc37x. I am trying to find a way to fix it. only thing I saw was to take out the earcups and blast em with canned air, which I did but didn't work. Does anyone know of a way to prevent the creaking or maybe suggest headset/headphones that wont creak?
  5. I currently use the logitech G170+ keyboard which I like, but it gets dirty easily and the only way to really clean it is to remove all of the keycaps. So I was kind of looking for a new keyboard and I heard about the vulcan 120 which has the totally exposed switches for easy cleaning. Does anyone have any thoughts on the roccat keyboard or any other keyboards with the same style of exposed switches?
  6. Thanks for the info, didn't realize I was being stingy at $500. That monitor looks promising but I might just wait and save up some more for something like the ASUS ROG PG279Q from your list (thanks for that by the way, very interesting). I usually try to stay away from the bargain items because from my experience I get burned from them (got a cheaper motherboard for my PC and quickly realized I needed more IO than what was given, and then the monitor pixels going after 2 years of use just sitting on a desk). And yeah I think IPS will be the way to go for me, but I appreciate the TN suggestion.
  7. Like the title suggests I am looking for a new monitor for gaming. Looking for 27inches, 1440p (not against 4k monitors just something that I am willing to give up since high refresh rate 4k gaming is a long ways away for me), high refresh rate (doesn't need to be crazy high, just above 100), and color is really important as well (so probably IPS). Budget would ideally be around $350- $400 but I can go up to $500 (In USA). Feel free to post other slightly more expensive monitors because I usually wait for a sale anyway. If it matters I currently have a gtx 1070 and intel 6700k and my monitor is an Acer GN246HL. Thanks in advance for the suggestions. Reason why I am upgrading: dead pixels.
  8. replacing all the guts of a laptop seems like a bit much for me. replaced the thermal paste on my laptops once and ended up breaking one.
  9. That hp looks interesting, but I don't see how that dell is worth another $1000. thanks for the suggestion.
  10. Started going back to school for programming and looking for a laptop. Probably going to pick up something with: i7 cpu 16gb ram 256gb SSD I don't think I will need any kind of dedicated GPU for my school work, weight isn't much of an issue, and I won't need it until the fall so having to wait for it isn't a con either. Usually I would hop onto massdrop for something like this however they pretty much exclusively sell gaming laptops which are a little more than what I am looking for. Are there any other places where I can get a discount on laptops like massdrop? Trying to keep it around $1000
  11. alright ued those settings and still get the same problem
  12. but wouldnt that increase the amount of time between turning the fan on and off? my problem is that it happens too frequently.
  13. I use MSI afterburner to OC my GPU a bit, but my fan for my graphics card revs up and then goes back down about once a second. I dunno how to fix pls help. included is my fan graph thing.
  14. thanks for the info. just bought the 6xx and am trying to understand audio things.
  15. just making sure that you uninstalled your nvidia drivers before downloading the 980 ones (after you took the 1080ti out). I know that updates can sometimes mess up your cards and switching cards out completely porbably has a chance to do the same thing. this is also the simplest thing to check so why why not.
  16. what does it mean when people ask how headphones scale with amplification? from the OP it seems like either your headphones are properly powered or they aren't. so does scaling simply mean how well you power your device? and would you be better off with cheaper headphones that you can easily power than headphones that aren't fully scaled? (I hope that makes sense)
  17. So I have been using speakers for a while now but have recently bought myself a headset. now there is one inconvenience with this, in order to use my headset I have to unplug my speakers and vice versa. I am looking into a sound card specifically so that I can bypass this and just switch between them on the fly using software (preferably be able top set this up to a macro key). What I am looking for are suggestions on what internal sound card I should buy and how much I should be looking to spend. Motherboard: Z170-A Headset: PC 37X as a starting point I was looking at the sound blaster Z but it is a bit pricey and I have heard that sound cards with 3d surround can interfere with a game's own 3d surround sound
  18. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227683 So this thing is on sale for $1249.99 off of newegg right now. I tried to build a 'cheapest parts' system with a 6700 and a 1080 but it still ended up being $100 MORE than the prebuilt. So what am I missing, why is this PC at this price?
  19. well since the NH-D15 is already listed I will say the dark rock pro 3, by be quiet. almost identical cooling as the noctua one but (IMO) looks a lot better. it is pretty large though 123 x 133 x 163mm . the cooler will hang over the ram so you will need to install the ram first and you can't use tall ram. but I think your ram will be fine
  20. Thanks for the advice, that screen protector sound a lot better than the $25 one verizon guy wanted me to buy. Is there anything to look out for with the compatibility of screen protector and case?
  21. So I thought it would be pretty straight forward to buy these things but when I looked for a screen protector I found way more things than I thought I would. The one they sell at the verizon store is supposed to be crap so I was wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a screen protector for the S7. also I was going to get the otterbox commuter case, is this case a good value or what are some good alternatives?
  22. I use a lenovo laptop that runs two 750ms in SLI, But I am now looking to build a new computer for 1080 gaming and Will probably buy either the 480 or 1060 for it.
  23. I haven't made anything like that since high school woodshop a few years ago, and I have no tools for it either. But that sounds like a good idea, maybe I can ask a relative to borrow some tools and give it a try
  24. I am looking for a taller desk to replace my current one. Dimensions of my current desk (in inches) are 47.5in Wide, in.5 in deep, and 28 in high. Right now in order to game on my laptop without wrist strain I have my keyboard and mouse sitting on walking dead compendiums, So i am guessing I would want a desk at least 2in taller than what I currently have. The problem is that the nice desks that I find are all 28in and 29in tall. Does anyone have a suggestion for a new desk at $200?
  25. not enough compound would result in all cores heating up. one core heating up over other is probably due to your work load only using one or two cores.
