  1. I though of that but if the motherboard is sketchy it could potentially fry his RAM, no?
  2. Rig : Ryzen 5 2600 MSI B450 Tomahawk 2x8GB Corsair LPX DDR4 @3000MHz Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 Sapphire Radeon RX 570 Nitro+ 4GB Crucial MX500 250GB WD Blue 1TB Seasonic Focus Plus Gold 750w Fractal Design Meshify C Long story short. Ordered PC from Germany. Live in Ireland. Comes in 2 weeks. Build PC. Everything works fine. Used for a few hours on first day of building. Next day I was playing an undemanding game (crossfire) for a few hours (if not even) and suddenly my PC froze and I had to reset. Black screen, no post. Fans spin, LEDs on. Actually managed to boot into bios 3 times over the course of two days but froze almost instantly. CPU EZDEBUG LED usually on, sometimes VGA, DRAM once. Things I've done: >reset CMOS >reseat everything >tried different ram positions etc. >flashed newest BIOS >changed PSU cables. >tested PSU and works. >friend tested RAM and GPU. GPU works, with RAM PC wouldn't boot. I know I need to RMA RAM. Question is whether I should RMA both the CPU and motherboard as well and if not what could I do to test it. I'll try and look for a service shop or something that could test these two but that could prove a challenge. Any tips?
  3. I wouldn't go with that one - read that it's an absolute sucker for airflow (I mean the front isn't great, just look at it.) Speaking of suckers, I'm a sucker of Phanteks and Fractal Design, so you could check them out (the Phanteks P400/P350x depending on your budget or IMO the Meshify C (much better airflow) from Fractal). You could look for alternate cases from reviewers like Hardware Canucks or Gamers Nexus or pretty much any forum. People also recommend the Enthoo Pro Midi M, although it's a bit more expensive than the other ones. Corsair hasn't made any good budget cases lately, but you could look into the Corsair 275R (although from my perspective it doesn't have great airflow either, you'd have to read about it).
  4. He can always get a secondary display down the line. 21:9 1440p perhaps?
  5. Yup. Still though, in my opinion the case isnt the best - it's not too pretty and if you have this kind of hardware, shell out 10 or 20 bucks more, it'll do you good.
  6. Perhaps, but they're not always available (for me anyway)
  7. Well in my case the Corsair is actually more expensive, hence me saying "if you can".
  8. I would change that SSD to a PCIe m.2 SSD from Samsung. Also, get the NZXT Kraken x62 if you can. I personally would go air cooled but it's all about preferences Maybe opt for a 2TB WD Blue HDD instead. Also, noctua fans perform much better.
  9. Chahnge the case to a phanteks p400/p350x or a Fractal Design Meshify C. Get a better power supply (Seasonic has a new lineup - they're very reliable). Get a different monitor, either a cheaper 60hz or a 144hz - it will be worth it. Get an m.2 pcie sad (Samsung 960 is good, 250gb) Buy two sticks of RAM (2x4) Get a better cooler from the likes of be quiet! or Noctua. You could also opt for a Cryorig R1.
  10. It should be fine. Although if you really want to and be on the safer side, you can. I saw many good PSUs for not that much. I mean, you have a pretty beefy system and if any of that fails, it's going to be cheaper to just get a new PSU in the first place. I'd say get the psu whenever you get the new card.
  11. Also, I loved the NZXT S340 too (never had it) but now is set my eyes upon the Fractal Design Meshify C Dark Tint TG. The S340 is bigger though and is still a great option
  12. Agreed. Even when gaming he can expect 70+ or even sometimes 80° with that Intel cooler, not mentioning the turbo jet engine and coil whine.
  13. Read some of it. Ditch the corsair keyboard. Buy a cheap mechanical keyboard from amazon or somewhere else - you'll be amazed by what 25-30 bucks can get you. Also, opt for a cheaper monitor (if you want to) - you can still get a 1080p 60hz panel for cheaper (21.5" / 22"). Linus made a video on one - an IPS display, 1080p 70hz 7ms for about 90 bucks. Cut corners where you can without sacrificing anything. You can even shave off of your case by opting for a cheaper p300 from phanteks. It's all in your hands.
  14. I'd say still get a cooler. Looks + lower temps/acoustics. 20-30 bucks should do you more than plenty.
  15. Instead of going mini itx (unless it's a necessity), what about a Fractal Meshify C? Or Phanteks Enthoo Pro Midi M TG?
