What do you mean, "safer"? They're not going to bite your nose off or burn your house down.

If your overclock goes too far, the machine will either thermal throttle or crash. Hardware does that, not software.

I tend to use the stress testing feature built into y-cruncher, but the above mentioned by @Needfuldoer is also solid options. Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents 🙂

Sorry for the double post but I actually found the issue and the solution to this, so I just wanted to post this for people who might have the same issue.

It turns out that the problem comes from my PCI-E WiFi card. I removed it, just to test if the SSD will work properly in the PCI-4 slot and suddenly, no problems. Played for hours without any crashes. The PCI-E card was installed in the bottom PCI-E slot on the MB. I moved it to the full size PCI-E slot located just under the GPU and again - no problems. It seems like when in the bottom slot the power of the PCI-Es changes somehow trying to get through all the lanes leading to this bottom slot.
Interestingly the FPS in the performance test of Batman Arkham Knight went from average 90FPS to average 160FPS. I was testing if it will crash to this test and was surprised to see the jump in FPS after removing the WiFi card altogether. When in the full size PCI-E slot now, FPS remains high and much more stable than before. It is defiantly some sort of power issue. Some people solve it by removing cable mods, others when removing RGB strips, in my case it was the WiFi card. So, if you have similar issue try removing those and it will most probably fix it for you.

I am a happy man now. The drive is in it's Gen4 slot and it's blazing fast, my FPS problem that I didn't even know I had was fixed and my WiFi and Bluetooth are working alongside everything.

Thanks to everyone who helped me!
    Happy Holidays!

You can try swapping around the 2 NVMe SSDs so that the Renegade is in the bottom slot. If this doesn't solve the issue try disconnecting as many of the drives that you don't need to boot to Windows and test again. Then if the issue goes away, add the drives one by one, testing to see if the issue comes back each time. Could be that one of the other drives is a bit funky.

I don't think you can attach a eGPU to this laptop. The 1st picture just show the backside of an SD card slot and the 2nd picture shows a port I've never seen before. So I don't think it's a PCIe port. Also in order for it to work (if it had a PCIe port) you would need to mod the underside of the back plate or leave it off completely when you want to use the eGPU.

Update to whoever may stumble upon this post in the future:
After many hours of banging my head against the wall I tried removing the CableMod extensions I have for the 24 pin and 3 GPU 8 pin connectors. The issue has not appeared since this change. This was about a months ago. I might just have semi defective extensions installed or maybe the extentions entroduces a small form of resistance that causes instability.
Whatever the case may be, the issue is now gone and I'm a happy camper. 🙂

Because both Microsoft and Sony are dickheads. You need an external controller driver to emulate Dualshock4 input into XInput outside of Steam, like DS4Windows.

I don't see any mention of a DRAM cahce on either SSD. I recommend against getting these as you can run into scenarios where they are gonna be even slower than harddrives.

That's what it's supposed to be. You want to be limited by the GPU and not the CPU meaning you're getting full use of the card.

Getting audio through HDMI should be simple. I'm pretty sure you can get audio through the HDMI port on your graphics card.

Huh, I was unaware of this. Perhaps because it is a cheaper model, is the reason why the build quality isn't good. For my case, the display i use is very high quality.
As for the ghosting I can only speak from the model I have and my experinces with it. I am currently running it with the "Fast" option (not the fasest setting) and haven't really noticed any ghosting, even when running at 160Hz.

If you have a extra cable that is compatible with the V850 you're fine. I wouldn't recommend running the graphics card with only 2 PCIe power cables.
Other than that the only thing I can mention is that 850W is right on the edge of what I would consider "good enough" for a PSU that is powering a RTX 3090. If you experince sudden shutdown without warning, it might be because you are tripping the OCP in the PSU. This can only be fixed by getting a more powerful PSU.

Damn, this is a long post! 😃 Good on you for being so detailed. More people should go for your example, but whatever. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Let me clear something up:
The saying that states that Minecraft Java Edition is CPU intensive is not 100% correct. Yes, it loves fast CPUs, but the limitation of the Java Edition is that it is very single threaded. So if you want good perfomance in Minecraft get a CPU with a few very fast cores.

As @CommanderAlex have mentioned, playing 4k with a 2080 is only gonna get you so far when playing at high settings. Thus, I agree that you are GPU limited in this case.

You're also putting graphics settings to the maximum on an RTX 2080 while trying to play at 4K resolution and above 60FPS. That doesn't help. Make sure Java is up to date and is the 64 bit version and not 32 bit (should be 64 bit if you're allocating 12GB of RAM).

Also, are you playing with mods?

I would have to agree here, as that cooler is capable of handling that CPU. If you are in the US and near a Microcenter, you can get the newer AK400 for $34.99 right now.

Hi there, welcome to the forum! 🙂
I don't suppose you remember the error code it gave you when it BSOD'ed?
Also what motherboard do you have?

In any case it never hurts to clear the CMOS to see if that fixes anything. See how to do so here.

If that doesn't fix it, the drive might be dead and you need to RMA it.
