  1. You could always get the new MikroTik CRS305 switch: https://mikrotik.com/product/crs305_1g_4s_in Extremely well priced.
  2. The MikroTik CRS312-4C+8XG is coming which is looking really good based on the feature set. Waiting on pricing https://www.servethehome.com/new-10gbe-and-40gbe-mikrotik-switches-coming/2/
  3. With my Asus board I had to go to Network Connections > Properties on the Adapter > Configure > Advanced > Then disable Ultra Low Power Mode. That might work.
  4. Not sure why, but I just bought an Xbox One S 1TB. It was on a really good deal...

  5. Yup. Hence the whole "Consult your local authorities regarding public usable frequencies." statement . Every country has different laws and the user must abide to them.
  6. Yeah we install like 20+ a week if not more Love them a lot Running the older non AC models at home since I got them for free. Still get my full 50Mbps line speed over the 2.4Ghz wireless
  7. If you need WiFi in a certain room that doesn't get signal I would suggest something like this https://www.ubnt.com/unifi/unifi-ap-ac-lite/
  8. High speed internet over a long distance. We use this a lot in our business (ISP) to provide up to 100Mbps internet in locations where Fiber doesn't exist and there is only DSL with max speeds of around 6Mbps average. Depending on the frequencies used. In my country 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz is free to use by public (Same as home WiFi freq) where as other frequencies are licensed. Consult your local authorities regarding public usable frequencies. (2.4Ghz & 5.8Ghz is usable in almost all countries as again home wireless uses these.) Majority of Ubiquiti wireless gear is running on either 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz. Some of their products like AirFibre runs on 11Ghz and higher like 24Ghz https://airmax.ubnt.com/. The gear Linus was using ran on 5Ghz using the AirMax protocol. Radio: https://www.ubnt.com/airmax/rocket-prism-ac/ Antennae: https://www.ubnt.com/airmax/rocketdish-lw/

  13. Hi everyone I have been looking around and I can't really find a good solution for backing up family computer to a local home media server and a cloud service. I am currently using Crashplan to backup the computers to our local media server and I am considering buying the Cloud service so that they can recover in the case the server fails etc. Has anyone used Crashplans Cloud service? Any other software suggestions? Internet (Fibre): 50Mbps Download / 50Mbps Upload Unlimited Data Computers: 5x Windows 7, 1x Windows 8.1, 1x Windows Server 2012 & 1x MacOS Thanks for any input

  20. Hey Everyone So we received a bunch of "old" servers and the one had two raid cards installed wired into each other so I pulled the one out and I would like to use it in my media server. The card is a IBM ServeRaid M1015 but the board name is SAS9220-8i and I would like to flash it with the LSI IT firmware so that I can use it has a HBA Card and setup FreeNas instead of Windows Server 2012 R2. I have tried updating the IBM firmware to the latest version but it refuses to update since it is no longer installed in an IBM system so I would like to know if any one could help point me in the right direction to flash the LSI firmware Any help would be greatly appreciated! System Specs of Media Server: Intel core i3 2120 3.3Ghz Gigabyte H61M-S2P 2x 4GB 1333Mhz DDR3 Here is a picture of the back of the card:
  21. Pretty much, I have the same issue with my one screen
