  1. More likely as to artificially fragment their product line. Kinda like how night mode didn't come to the iPhone XS via software update even though the camera hardware is capable of it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  2. This is why I hate One Drive. Despite having a 100↓/100↑ fiber connection 5ms ping, it took at least 10 minutes to sync and download this file. Sure I have someone streaming 4K Netflix on the room next to me but it occurs often even if I'm alone at home.

Your own maximum bandwidth is only part of the equation. The question is how much bandwidth Microsoft is willing/able to provide to you at the current point in time. You're not the only person using One Drive, after all. Their outgoing bandwidth is shared between hundreds or thousands of people. And the file might not even be found on a file server close to you, so they might need to stream it in from elsewhere first.

We use OneDrive for business/SharePoint Document Libraries. We have approximately 1.25TB of data in the cloud. It is surprisingly fast. It really depends on your computers processing power, your internet connection, and the service load on Microsofts end. We process approximately 3GB of data a day to and from OneDrive (mostly photos) and all of those hundreds of files sync/download/upload basically with no delay. It has gotten a lot better than it was in 2019.

OneDrive (consumer) is slow (compared to Dropbox).

Nothing beats a local NAS in bandwidth, latency and IOPS. Cloud is great for backups of this NAS.

  3. Because of the difficulties in anodizing Titanium, Apple created the most dull and boring colors in pro iPhones to date.
  4. I was referring to the Mother Nature segment where they mentioned nothing about repairs
  5. Now that the A17 Pro supports Ray Tracing, does it mean that by next year Macs with the M3 chip will have something similar to DLSS?
  6. This is perhaps the most cringe part of the Apple keynote trying to placate everyone that they're now Eco friendly but no mention of easier repairs. I mean look at the like/dislike ratio. Apple must've paid a lot of money to these actors lol. Also at around 3:43 the lady said that they aim to "permanently remove carbon in the atmosphere". Anyone who studied high school science knows that you can only reduce atmospheric carbon but you cannot permanently remove it because every animals including humans breathe out CO2 as a byproduct of metabolism. Hence it's quite misleading. Heck even decaying matter like a dead tree or a dead deer emits CO2 and CH4.
  7. Is there a way to get rid of the dynamic island from screenshots? It's so fucking ugly!

If the 15/15+ was priced at around $300-$400 just like the Galaxy A54 then yes a compromise of USB 2 speeds would've been acceptable. But no, the 15 starts at $800 while the 15+ at $900. Meanwhile the Galaxy S23/23+ are in the similar price points as the 15/15+ but they have USB 3 speeds and a true 3x optical zoom camera while the 15/15+ relies on cropping the 48MP photo for a fake 2x zoom. So yeah at that price point USB 3 is expected regardless whether people use it all the time or once a month.
  9. No mention of the transfer speeds used by the USB C port on the regular iPhone 15/15+, which means that they're using the very slow USB 2.0 speeds. 🤮

Good luck transferring those 48MP HEIF files and 4K videos.

But are people doing that with the regular iPhones? The average user only plugs in to charge. Ppl who know they do cable data transfer are going to get the Pro.

Outside of price, the A54 and a regular iPhone 15 do not compete against each other in any category. The A54 might have USB 3, but everything else about it is worse than an iPhone 15.

  10. For anyone with an iPhone or iPad, iOS/iPadOS 16.6.1 update is out which is meant to address vulnerabilities exploited in the wild. It's a small update.

  11. This is why the Touch bar was never a good idea on a laptop. It's another point of failure. Here is a possessed Touch bar of a 13" MacBook Pro (pre-M1). I can't believe that there are Apple fans who would want this useless feature back.

Having owned a 2020 13" MBP, and currently typing this on a 2019 16" MBP, I still like the TouchBar. I have not had any of these glitched or hardware failures.

Now, is the TouchBar redundant? Yes. Like 90% of its features can be done via the UI, dedicated keys, or literally any other method...but I still think it's cool. Really the TouchBar is just a glorified emoji picker and video timeline scrubber, but damn is it neat to look at!

I'm not even an apple fan and I thought the touchbar was a cool idea honestly. What they really need to bring back is the backlit apple logo on the lid though 🙂

  14. Teaching someone to use a Mac for the first time isn't as steep of a learning curve as people thought. I was able to teach both my mom (M1 Mac mini) and my sister (M2 MacBook Air) over a phone call. Both of them asked me "where is the start menu" and "how to search" which I replied Launchpad and ⌘ + spacebar with the latter note that the file manager is Finder.

I guess them both using an iPhone made it familiar like Safari being the default browser and that both have FaceTime, iMessage, and the App Store.

  15. It’s time for a new tablet. You’ve served me well 2018 iPad 9.7”. I just can’t deal with your bleeding LED backlight and lackluster battery life but you’ve been with me through med school until graduation.

Though alpha IS leaps and bounds ahead of even Google when it comes to the KB. I seriously have a hard time understanding the massive brainpower that goes behind wolfram research's products.

  17. It's quite surprising that the LTT mods haven't locked or deleted threads yet regarding the controversies surrounding LMG whereas Reddit moderators (not LTT subreddit mods) are either deleting or locking posts regarding Madison's accusations. Nonetheless, it's good to know that no one at LMG has picked up a ukelele and called it a "toxic gossip train". :old-grin:

Will there be a light at the end of the tunnel for them? It's very hard to say ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Not sure why it is surprising, we dont have a history of removing controversial topics. In fact, we have a good history of merging topics for better viewing and community involvement. Only in a few instances have we been forced to lock a controversial topic due the blatant toxicity it turned into.

  21. You can still use passwords in Windows 11 and even on your Microsoft account Nope. If PIN/passwords are more secure then it wouldn't have been a problem on iCloud accounts because thieves are constantly looking for strangers inputting their 4/6 digit PINs before they grab an iPhone and lock out the user from their own iCloud accounts. There are so many ways of stealing passwords from a user that doesn't involve hacking. One of which is through the use of thermal cameras. Biometric data nowadays is stored locally and encrypted and is tucked away from the rest of the operating system.
  22. After trying both, I gotta say that: physical nano SIM > eSIM

You can't convince me otherwise and I'm glad that only US iPhones has this shitty and cumbersome SIM option...wait it's not even an option for them.
