Kids nowadays will never know the joys of driving manual transmission especially when you get your license and you're shifting gears for the first time. Sometimes I think kids nowadays are spoiled of the ease of use of automatic transmission----> P, R, N, D.

Most of my cars have included sequential shifters. Problem here is traffic. It sucks when you’re expected to go 50, stop for a minute, go 50, and then stop again. And these lights are separated by less than a quarter mile.

I thought sequential shifters are a thing for motorcycles only?

Nope. Company Volvo has it, VW Eos has it, BMW i3 has it, Toyota Celica has it.

I’m kidding about the Celica having it, though it would have been a very strong addition to an already snappy engine.

I should mention that these are automatics with manual modes up to their highest gears.

Are you referring to cars with something like this?

    I guess that's the D1, D2 and D3 of my car.

I just remembered how happy I was when I first learned to drive manual transmission with five gears

I find sequential much easier to work with when I go to the track.

    Spoiler

Then again I’ve only gone two times.

While I do use 1, 2, D on my Celica when driving, I think of my regular commute as a laidback experience. No sense in pulling Vin Diesels when you’re so close to ending your day.

but if you have electric cars, manual transmission provides no benefit, so i don't think it's necessarily about being spoiled, but more that tech is moving past the need for manual

@Jtalk4456 I haven't used electric cars unfortunately. Also, a lot of trucks and farm equipment are still using manual transmission and uses diesel fuel.
