Today I found out about Canon's VR filming lens. It allows for filming of VR content on a single sensor camera. Pretty nifty!

Could make for a an interesting video!

If it just turned off out of the blue, it is usually overheating or a power supply issue. The RM850X is a pretty solid unit so I would keep an eye on the temps, especially the CPU one.

Houndz199 got a reaction from Rybo in YouTube Ads getting seriously aggressive
YouTube premium is defiantly worth the money nowadays IMO. Its also great if you have a chromecast, because when watching with friends, if even one person casting videos to the TV has premium, than no matter who cues a video, they are always ad free. Also downloading videos offline is kinda nice. And its great for music you cant find on spotify/applemusic because you can leave the app and lock your phone and the audio will keep playing if you want. I am pretty sure they have student pricing too.

I would NOT do this. If the tape wears off due to heat or vibrations, the OP's HDD can literally drop to the bottom of the case (possibly hitting other components on the way down). Great way to kill a HDD and possibly RAM or GPU too.

@Houndz199 my suggestion is to mount it to the bottom of the case, if you're gonna use tape. Ideally, you would just drill some extra mounting holes somewhere. You can use a piece of paper to measure out where the mounting holes are on the HDD and then use the paper as a guide for marking your drill spots. I would suggest putting rubber grommets in between the case and your HDD (threading them through the mounting screws) to reduce any vibrations.

double sided type dont get it on the pcb of it like best bet to stick the top of the drive to the case wall

You can rest the drive upside down (PCB up) with some tape on top of your PSU or case bottom. Drives aren't too picky about how they're mounted. I would avoid a vertical mount if possible, just to prevent unnecessary stress on the drive.

Yes if you have a GTX 1080, you see much more difference going from 60hz to 75hz~100hz than going 100hz to 144hz so if you can fit it in the budget I personally think it'd worth, provided your card is strong enough to make use of it.

Keep saving up until Ryzen is released, even fi its a fail and you decide not to go for it, you'll probably have saved enough extra to get a 7700k.

Houndz199 reacted to DocSwag in Is this a good 'entry level' build?
I'd use a ddr4 motherboard with ddr4 ram instead. DDR3 will work but the voltage is higher than what skylake is designed to handle and so in the long run you risk frying the CPUs memory controller. As well, try not to get a GPU with a blower cooler, since it will be a lot louder.

Although I am sure you could, by the time you bought the necessary things to do it, you would be at the cost of a power supply. Plus in general that just sounds like a bad idea

That really depends on what you're playing, but in most cases, the 6600K will be far more than enough. And we can't tell if you should wait for Zen or not; we don't have the nitty-gritty details.

i'm gonna let out your less than optimal description, because at least you tried good enough

one thing tho: hertz is frequency, not wavelength. (frequency is 1/wavelength, or the other way around)
and well.. this really gets on my nerves people get it wrong so often:
    - Mbps is mega BITS per second
    - MBps is mega BYTES per second

small b is bits, capital B is bytes.
if you want to make it easier on yourself, this is a good trick to at least not make the mistake yourself:
    - speed is usually talked about in *prefix* bits per second, so i write Mbps
    - bytes are more often used to describe the amount of information (filesize) or in the speed side of things, the actual moved amount of data per timeframe, so i write MB/s

it's not really a "mind blown amazing" kind of trick, but it helps your brain if the difference between the two is more than just capitalization.

Houndz199 reacted to Oberon.Smite in 8GB vs 16GB of RAM
If you're using chrome and other memory intensive tasks, it will make a difference depending on the load. If you have like 60 tabs open at a time you should consider going to 16GB. However if you're using less than that than stay with 8. I'd recommend going for 16 because RAM is cheap right now (remember when 8GB of DDR3 was $80?). It'll give you headroom so you don't have to worry about it in the future. Anyways if you play games it's time to go for 16GB since games are starting to use more RAM.

IPS. Image quality is more important than FPS in those situations, and if those are 1-3 on your list, no question IPS is the way to go.

Unless you're a very heavy user, you're unlikely to notice as the page file will still be used for certain portions of the system.

That said, there are a few games that will run much better on 16GFB of RAM and others that won't run unless you HAVE 16GB of RAM.

Photoshop maybe, web browser not really, but with new triple A titles recommending 12 GB of ram it would be safe investment to get 16gb.

hes right but it doesnt work like that for most people, personally putting games on an sdd to save 3 seconds of loading isnt worth the 100 dollar cost just to fill up

2TB seagate barracuda as my d - for document storage
2TB seagate barracuda as my e - only for games.

depending on the size of your currently library, and how quickly you got to said size, may be better to just get one giant ssd or an hdd solely for games.

Houndz199 got a reaction from Adreyu in Budget Amd cpu
My current setup has the Fx6300 and the 1060, and I cant recommend that cpu with the 1060 because it is a bottle neck on cpu intesive games like GTA V and Metro series. So for now FX6300 is worth it with your 950, but if you plan to upgrade the gpu soon, I wouldn't suggest the 6300, i would go with at least the fx8350 if you want the am3+ socket
