Swiftfeather got a reaction from genexis_x in [Microcenter US] (In-Store Only) Microcenter is at it again, selling CPUs for cutthroat prices!
Microcenter is up to it again, selling CPUs (and probably other things) for insane discounts. Only for those who can actually travel to one, but worth it regardless!

Swiftfeather reacted to Mira Yurizaki in Looking to move windows from HDD to SSD need help
Unplug the HDD, install the SSD, install Windows like normal.
Use this tool to make the install media: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Swiftfeather reacted to Phate.exe in reuse my old hdd
Mount both drives in the case, don't hook up Sata/power to the old one.
Install OS on new drive, get computer reasonably set up with all drivers, steam install, etc. Don't install any games yet.
Plug in Sata/Power to old drive, boot into bios to make sure you are still booting from your new HDD.
Navigate to steam directory on old drive, and copy any files that are obvious game installations to the steam directory on the new drive. Find any game saves on your old drive and copy them to the appropriate locations on the new one. Install games. Steam will check which local content is already there, and only download anything that is missing.
Once you have whatever else you feel like migrated over to the new drive, you can either start deleting stuff manually or format/repartition the thing to have a blank slate for overflow media storage.
Your system won't really care that there's an entire OS installed on the old drive, since you aren't booting from it.

Swiftfeather got a reaction from another random person in Yep
If you look at the people selling it, they have no feedback at all, they're brand new sellers, I bought a pair because I'm willing to lose a $1.31 that I can probably get back... Only time will tell... will come back in a month if it arrives

Swiftfeather reacted to GzeroD in 8-pin CPU power doesn't fit Mobo (EVGA 650 GQ)
I don't see how it wont fit the motherboard. one side of the connector has the square (keyed) blocks too make sure you don't plug it in incorrectly. all 8 pins are not keyed identically but there are no square connectors where there should be irregular hex pins. It should just slot in.

Got the i7 months after the board was purchased, originally planned on a locked i5, but my budget increased and a sale happened so I got it for $250

Use this site as it will tell you what wattage you need then look elseware to find a cheaper one. EBay is always a good place to find a good second hand one.
