  1. I just use distilled water which you can buy for almost nothing in the local supermarket for use in irons. This way you dont get a residue in your iron due to the minerals in tapwater. Be sure to use some sort of bacterial killer. You can buy fluids or a silver killcoil which ive got. Ive heared some people have problems though with the antibacterial fluids. After almost a year in my system theres still no gunk BTW ive got nickel EK blocks and copper rads.
  2. Arg darn it But ill consider you a true Dutchman! The first thing you have to ask her when you see her again is where you can get a Kanelstang. This badboy is heavenly! Some of my granny's friends (who now also moved to the netherlands) send my granny this beast a few times a year, its godly! God... I love Danish pastry. EDIT: Oops that pic i a little big...
  3. Hope this works out haha! I myself am the product of Danish woman and a Dutch man and ive come out fine! Prepare yourself for toungue twister 'cause my dad still cant speak danish very well while my mom can speak dutch Good luck!
  4. For me its more the keyboard but the idea that i made it myself is also very cool. I love making things like this so it will be fun How come? There must be some people that want one and dont want to wait for the Massdrop?
  5. Yeah I agree on the printrbot thing. Ive got a Reprap Prusa I3 which I built from a kit i bought. It uses a Sanguinololu and it works just fine after soldering it myself. Before i bought my Reprap kit i was looking into sourcing the parts myself just like you are right now. The problem with this is that you very quickly have compatibility issues and you have nowhere to go when something fails or doesnt fit. On top of that it often isnt even cheaper to source all the parts yourself because you'd have to buy all parts in small quantity which drives prices up. The companies that sell these kits buy the parts in bulk which saves a lot of money. When i was shopping for a 3D printer i first wanted to get a printrbot. But back then i had to pay a lot of shipping ($100+!) to get them to send one to the Netherlands. On top of that i would have had to pay 21% VAT when it reached customs. So i decided to go with a reprap from the mainland. Until now it hasnt disappointed me and i can get a very nice finish with a .25mm nozzle and .2mm layer height. Since your forum location is set to Canada i'dd recommend getting a printrbot simple as well like Wferr said. They even sell them on amazon now! Theres no heated bed on a simple so no ABS for you if you wanted to print ABS... So yea get a Printrbot simple for $350 (damn printers have become cheap! ) just like Wferr said. And if you want to print bigger than 1003mm get a simple metal or build a reprap like i did. Hope this helps!
  6. Yes, it does work in Europe atleast here in the Netherlands it does. Shipping is $25 which is not that bad. Im just praying for the package sneaking past customs Otherwise ill have to pay a 20 euro handling fee and also pay 21% VAT on top of the total cost (includes the $25 shipping). Otherwise lets hope its worth it  There are some alternatives to the Ergodox. There is something called Truly Ergonomic Keyboard. They also use cherry switches and you dont have to assemble them yourself. But they are kinda in the same pricerange at +- $250 and are less customizable, atleast it looks like it.
  7. Ive been looking at the microsoft keybaord as well but that doesnt use mechanical switches and i hate membrane switches. Thats why Im gonna try this. I get pain in my wrists from normal keyboards so im gonna give it a go. If i remember doing it i will make a review/buildlog on here about the Ergodox. Im excited to recieve my package cant wait But yea it could be used as such but its very expensive just for that purpose. Isnt it better to just buy an orbweaver (which is mechanical) from razer?
  8. Dont be scared of soldering, its so easy. Just search for a soldering tutorial on youtube and buy a practice kit like i did. I bought such a small kit where you make a bug which follows the light. After I soldered that bug I soldered my sanguinololu, something like this: Dont be scared and buy a good soldering iron and not a cheap one. A good one will last you pretty much a lifetime and is a good investment.
  9. Haha yeah well they are not that expencive anymore especially the repraps. You can make all kinds of stuff and fix stuff as well. And since I'm in my last year of mechanical enginering its very easy for me to design and make stuff. You also learn a lot by using a 3D printer. A few days ago I made an HDD rack to put some HDD's in for my server.
  10. So I recently joined the Massdrop for an Ergodox keyboard. This because my left wrist very quickly starts to hurt because I used to have a form of child-rheumatism which still has an effect on my wrist. If you always wanted one, the drop is currently running on Massdrop. I got a fullhand version with blue switches and might print some mods with my 3D printer to slant the keyboard in a more natural handposition. While Im waiting on my order to ship I wonder if there are any people on here who have an Ergodox keyboard and what their experiences are. Is it worth it or is a "normal" mechanical keyboard just as good, post your opinion.
  11. Swap out the i7 for an i5 and get an SSD with the saved money, otherwise i'd say its a decent build.
  12. I dont know, it was the cheapest 770, it has a non ref. cooler, but i dont know about the PCB. Its this card: http://www.palit.biz/palit/vgapro.php?id=2142
  13. €15, my friend does not want it to get too much over €1000. He wants a good PC for not too much haha. Dont spend more than you need. I would have picked a 210 but this saves 15 euro's...
  14. Ok, thanks guys. I picked the 620 watts version of the Sea Sonic PSU and after some googling I found the Cooler Master N200.
  15. Hey guys, I'm going to build my friend a 1000 euro pc. I would just like you guys to check this list to be sure. Parts: €104.89 - Gigabyte Z87MD3H €33.90 - Cooler Master Hyper 412S €53.95 - Sea Sonic S12II-520 Bronze €354.91 - Palit Gefore GTX 770 €62.90 - 2x4GB Kingston HyperX blu €86.90 - Samsung 840 120GB €58.90 - WD Caviar Blue 1TB €212.90 - 4670k Total: €969.25 What do you guys think? I think the PSU will just manage but I'm not completely sure, it's pushing it I think. Any sugestions on cheap clean looking cases? The Fractal Core 1000 wont fit the cooler. Thanks in adavnce.
