  1. I would like to see a test of using the starlink beta connection "Better than nothing"
  2. I am looking to get a new TV since the one I have is too small in my new house (about 3.5m to the screen). I currently have a 55" LG OLED and I'm looking for something around 75 - 85". At the moment the two best options I have found in right kind of price range (15,000dkk = 2200$) are these: https://www.power.dk/tv-og-billede/fladskaerms-tv/samsung-75-4kuhd-led-tv-qe75q85ratxxc/p-733751/ https://www.elgiganten.dk/product/tv-billede/fladskarms-tv/22881/samsung-75-q60r-4k-uhd-qled-smart-tv-qe75q60rat-2019 Is there anything that would be better to go for around this price range / size? If not, is it worth going down a bit on price / size to get a Q85R instead of the Q60R?
  3. If you wanted a cross between a rollerbar mouse and a touchpad then look at the Mousetrapper Advance, it is basically a rubber rolling touchpad.
  4. I have already been considering the wireless modmic as it seems like there weren't that many other options to get what I want, and the quality is great. I tried borrowing the Plantronics voyager 8200 uc from someone today but there was almost no active noise cancelling, so I dont think I will get those.
  5. I am looking to get a new headset for work so that I do not need to take my own one with me every day. I can use about 350$. The main things I would want are: a good microphone for meetings wireless / bluetooth good noise-cancelling doesn't look to gamerish decent audio (anything that can cover all of the other points will probably already have that) I currently use a steelseries siberia 800 at home which is great, other than the noise cancelling compared so some others. I was hoping for something similar to the sony wh-1000xm3 or bose qc 35 ii, but the microphones didn't seem that good.
  6. The link i used to watch it was: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/381306498 Although that now seems to not work either.
  7. At the moment the wan show wont work on youtube for me in any way. It seems like others had been having that issue. I was hoping I could watch it on floatplan. I guess the only other option is to go to twitch.
  8. I have 8, although I only use 6 regularly. 1 work laptop, not technically mine but I still do work on it from home 1 laptop that lives on the sofa 1 main desktop (using synergy to control the other 3) 3 spare desktops (2 using threadrippers and one crappy one) 2 spare laptops (almost never use them anymore but they are good spares to lend to other people) + a nas if that counts for anything
  9. It would probably be at stock or slightly overclocked. It will run 24/7 in a server rack by my desk so it would be hard to keep it very cool.
  10. I am looking to build a new desktop using a 2990wx with 128gb ram. The workload consists of running multiple instances of a program in parallel. My main question is if this is a good fit for my workload. I am currently running 2 other computers doing the same workload. ~90% CPU usage and 56GB RAM on a 1950x. (42 instances) ~90% CPU usage and 31GB RAM on a 1700x. (28 instances) I would ideally want about 40-60% more performance out of using a 2990wx for a new system. System price before cpu and ram: 800€ Total price with a 2950x and 64GB: 2050€ Total price with a 2990wx and 128GB: 3150€ Basic config: Case: Inter-Tech 4u 4129N +some rails PSU: 750w RMx GPU: A spare GTX 680 that I had left over Heatsink: Enermax LiqTech TR4 240 Motherboard: ASRock x399 Taichi SSD: 970 EVO m.2 What I would like to work out is if I would have issues with the memory bandwidth if I used a 2990wx. From what I have read, that is the main cause of workloads not scaling as well. Any other suggestions for the hardware would also be welcomed. A normal heatsink could be nice but it would need to fit in to a 4u case. I also have not looked to see if there are better motherboards out since gen 2 threadrippers were released.
  11. Thanks. I had already chosen a case since I am planning to move all of my current computers into rack enclosures. I am using a 4u Inter-tech 4129-N, which also means I cannot use the Noctua NH-U14, since it is 165mm high and I would only have about 154mm. I think i will play it safe and get a 128gb set that is verified to work with the Taichi board. There was almost no price difference in the ones I could get where I live.
  12. My estimates are based on running around 25 instances on a 1700x with 64gb ram. I was planning to just some 2133MHz corsair vengence ram and save some money there. I don't know how much ram speed would really matter. I will certainly wait until monday to see how things are looking anyway.
  13. It is similar to a VMware workload but it is not using it. I may occasionally use vmware on it though. I didn't realise the benchmarks for all of them came on Monday. If I am going for the 1950x which should be a bit cheaper than the 2950x then I might as well go for the older boards too, since they have already had time to mature. The other board I have been looking at is the Asus Prime, I think it is one of the cheapest but the main differences seem to be in the number of sata and m.2 slots, and then only having gigabit networking. Neither of these things would be an issue.
  14. I have decided that this would be the best way to get it done for me. I was hoping to order all the parts today or tomorrow, so I don't know if I will wait for the 2950x. Do you think there is any major advantage with waiting for the 2950x over a 1950x? I assume they will be relatively close to each other (there was as approximate 8% difference between the 1600 and 2600). The cpu - ram balance should already be quite close with this build anyway. Do you have any recommendations for reducing the redundant costs? I am mainly thinking in terms of a cheaper motherboard that would still allow a basic stable overclock. I don't know that many different threadripper motherboards. It's going to be connected with ethernet and not doing much file sharing on my local network.
  15. Thanks, I was hoping there was some (even if it's slightly more expensive) way to get 32gb ram modules for it. With the other suggestions about using EYPC, I think it would be better to possibly make 2 systems instead then. The program I am using does get affected by core speeds so it would run better with a threadripper I think. I will check though.
