  1. What kind of drive is it may I ask? Those options are not normal. Beyond that, try putting the drive into offline as it may allow you to do more with it such as formatting and making the drive NTFS formatted.
  2. If you want to set up different devices completely then go for the E10K or the FX-Audio DAC X6 rather than the Sabaj PHA2 or SMSL SAPII. Out of the four you have mentioned there, 2 are DAC's and two are amps. Both the E10K and the FX-Audio DAC X6 are DAC's and these basically use none of your motherboards audio whatsoever as they only really have USB input and as such will process their own audio from the computer, this is because they have their own audio controller on board and they'll connect differently to if they were plugged into your motherboards audio controller over 3.5mm audio jack. The two others, the Sabaj PHA2 and the SMSL SAPII are both pre-amps and therefore they don't have an on board audio controller, they are only adding extra power to the audio signal from your motherboard that comes out of your 3.5mm audio jack. As you say, you are happy with your motherboard audio so these two may be better for your needs and simplicity.
  3. You have several options here, first of all is whether you want to use the amplifier for more than headphones. For example, if you ever wanted to add passive speakers to your sound system etc, or, if you are solely using headphones to listen to things. At which stage, buy a speaker amplifier with a headphone output for the first option, or, just buy a plain and simple headphone amplifier/pre-amp to boost your audio quality/loudness for the latter. The next thing to mention is whether you want to use a tube amp or a solid state amp. personally I prefer a decent tube amp for headphone listening whilst solid state for listening on my speakers. It is up to you but there are plenty of headphone pre-amps and amplifiers out there, it also depends on the budget at which you are looking at.
  4. I feel that the major benefits have been mentioned already, however, I still want to say that one of the biggest benefits to using Linux is the fact that you can use it to recover and troubleshoot issues with your PC. I don't think this has yet been mentioned. It just makes sense as it is almost the only OS that can be installed onto a flash drive of almost any size depending on the variant of Linux Used. I must also add that one of the most powerful tools for storage is GPart(ed) and it is available on Linux. It helps that this is pre-loaded onto a lot of Linux distros too so booting straight into a USB drive to fix your boot partitions etc is very easy.
  5. Not as much as you may think if I'm honest. Maybe £20?
  6. Terraria would be my most played game hands down. The next closest would be GTA V.
  7. I could perhaps understand needing a tablet if you draw a lot for an art class etc, but if you just need a tablet to act like pen and paper... Then just buy the pen and paper. It costs a lot less than the price of a tablet, plus it's much easier to collate everything when it comes to revision and the like. Why make life harder for yourself and lose money at the same time?
  8. The antenna looks a bit like this, and, will most likely be either attached to the screen or will be connected to something else. Have just got to connect it again. http://i.ebayimg.com/images/i/330401099221-0-1/s-l1000.jpg
  9. Does the CPU not even have integrated graphics? Also... What you can do is remote into the device when it comes to needing an output onto something.
  10. That's a good sign at least. It may be worth checking how fast it charges as there are virtually no portable power banks around with more than 5V on them, just higher currents. A portable battery I would recommend is the Anker PowerCore 26800. It has three USB A outputs and holds 26800mah at 3Amps, great for your laptop. I'd recommend something that can output a higher current for example 6amps but these can cost a lot more.
  11. What laptop have to got? I highly doubt that it charges at 5V.
  12. Destiny 2 was free on the Battle.Net launcher a little while ago...
  13. I think my perfect phone would be my current Huawei Honor 9 inside the body of the iPhone 4S, would still keep USB-C and a fingerprint sensor but damn I love the 4S body. So good to be able to open the phone with ease and replace parts if any of it fails.
  14. Well then, time to buy one to trigger everyone... ?
  15. I just recently upgraded to a Xeon E5 1680 V2 on lga2011, this was coming from a Xeon X5675 on lga1366. Quite a big jump in performance I must say. However I've been waiting for a bit of time to dial in a decent overclock to make something worthwhile of it. As x79 is fairly power hungry and is happy to be on a voltage of up to 1.52V, I knew I had a good amount of headroom to play around with. Considering this is my daily driver, I settled on 4.4GHz which was stable at 1.365V respectably. Attached is a screenshot of my Cinebench R20 results, more than 3 times better than when I had my X5675 at 4.4GHz also.
  16. Almost any laptop ever with a decent iGP (still a single board computer). I'm thinking Intel HD 3000 and above.
  17. Strictly speaking... There is no front page of the internet as your browser will only take you directly to where you need to go... So, the front page of the internet is actually your Browser, therefore making New Tab the front page of the internet.
  18. I work as an IT technician for a school. I have heard a lot of hilarious phrases, knowledge and ideas, sometimes it is very difficult not to laugh whilst explaining how something actually works. Today however, is a glorious day when all of the Sh** hits the fan as staff members and pupils alike forget how to use IT equipment that they've now probably been using for years... This day my friends... Is back to school day after the summer holidays. The following comments are only a few of which I heard today or was in conversation with as I was trying to help an individual. - "I get a lot of gibberish text whenever I open a document from another device, is it because I am using Windows 9?" - They were in fact using Microsoft Office 2013 on a Windows 10 laptop, and, they were trying to open newer documents not supported by Office 2013. Neither Office or Windows 10 were activated. - "I've just had my summer holiday and I was expecting my laptop to have been worked on over the holidays, why was it not worked on? Plus I'm still on Windows 7!" - They had indeed taken their laptop home over the holidays, I can do nothing at this stage. I had also sent a notice out about a month prior notifying all staff members that any laptop with Windows 7 on it will need to be upgraded to Windows 10, and, must be left in their office or classroom before they leave for their holidays. - "We're really sorry sir, but the laptop screen cracked when we closed the lid of the laptop and we're not sure why. We were just fed up with how long it was taking to log in" - The kid had in fact slammed the lid of one of our laptops from science, but he closed it on his poor friends hands as he still had his hands on the laptops keyboard. The result of today is 20 to 30 tickets on our help desk of things that all staff members were happy with when they left for their summer break. I am tempted to give up and never help some of these folks again, as lovely as they may be.
  19. I have a friend that uses a 1440p 144Hz monitor for gaming as well as a 4K monitor for media consumption. I feel as though a 4K 60Hz monitor will compliment your 1440p quite nicely.
  20. I've just built my PC after not having one for a little while... I'll get back to you on that one... ? In all seriousness though, I'm an IT technician and already deal with cleaning a lot of computers at work, plus I have a second job as well... I can't really be bothered to clean my rig when I get home, it just... Works. Until I see the temps raise in which point I will probably change thermal paste and clean certain aspects of my PC to regain good temps. Very rarely do I do a full clean up however... Just use an air compressor from work to get rid of most of the dust...
  21. Hiya, Please don't abuse the fact that you can quote me. I'm not waiting on hand and foot and do have a life beyond the forum. It looks to me like you have an issue with your Windows installation then if nothing works. Do you have a bootable Windows 10 key or CD to had that you can use to boot into safe mode?
  22. Hiya, please make sure to quote me when you respond, otherwise I will not be notified if you have responded or not. What happens with the older CPU is installed may I ask? With GPU both in and out.
  23. That's good info to know, but have you narrowed down which bit/component that is causing this? Did you get any further into booting depending on what you did?
