  1. They have their uses, especially in schools and enterprise settings. I have implemented Chromebooks into primary schools as they are nice and simple for younger users. They are also quite nice to manage through the Chrome management console so that's a bonus.
  2. Try enabling CSM and turning off Windows UEFI secure boot?
  3. Are your boot options set to legacy or UEFI? If you've installed a UEFI version of windows then it will not boot under legacy. However, I would recommend using UEFI, especially with an NVME drive.
  4. Honestly, these come up quite a lot from here in the UK. Nothing wrong with that board. Just watch out for customs charges as that would be coming from China.
  5. Use a Mini-ITX Board, they go for around £25-£30 here in the UK. I am on the verge of buying one myself currently. Not sure what the market is like in the US though.
  6. I reckon I have spent around £300 on just my parents and twin brother. However... I also reckon I have spent close to this or more on food, spirits and more alcohol this year... Very boozy Christmas and New year.... Don't judge me....
  7. Ah I see, the weird part though is that if I do move my task-bar to another side, it will not disappear. Only when it is at the bottom does it disappear for me...
  8. Locking the task-bar only prevents the movement of it though...
  9. Hiya, Thanks for the help... Although apparently 'C:\WINDOWS\WinStore\AppxManifest.xml' does not exist... So now I don't know what to do. Cheers, Brennan.
  10. Hello there, I have been having this problem for months on end now and it is really grinding my gears. I have this problem where my task-bar will disappear randomly and for no apparent reason other than the fact that it wants to p*ss me off. Generally, it will only happen in MS Edge Dev browser but it has happened within Google Chrome as well. Below is a screenshot. The task-bar will appear again only after i have pressed the Windows key and then it is gone again if I go back into Edge. It is fine in other applications (including with edge open in the background) but when I tab back into Edge it starts again. Edge is not full screen. I have tried the below settings with no effect whatsoever. If I turn on Automatically hide task-bar in desktop mode then it will never appear again even when I hover over it, once again only appearing when I hit the Windows key. Please help me regain task-bar functionality again, I may just switch from Windows entirely otherwise. (bit drastic I know but I am a keen Linux user also). Cheers, Brennan.
  11. LTT have already tried to do this, just not quite on the same scale that you describe.
  12. No worries, I would recommend Slax Linux, absolutely tiny install and it works best installed straight to a USB stick. I believe they've made a Debian based install for this too so it should be easy to get set up.
  13. That is also what I believed and experienced though. My HD 7970 works fine in Linux and was fine after a Windows 10 reinstall. Might be worth testing to see if you get any issues with a bootable Linux flash drive and see where you go from there.
  14. I hate to say it but I've had a very similar issue and it was in fact Windows 10 that caused the issue. Error code 43 and a little bit of Graphical glitches was what I had with my HD 7970. Best fix I got for it was to re-install the OS, in fact it worked better with a Linux install from then on but your mileage may vary.
  15. Electrical circuits will be set up for different elements of the home. For example your plugs may be on a different circuit to the lighting in your house. It generally varies depending on the age of the house etc, however, it is worth just looking at your circuit breaker in your house as it may be labelled as to which bits are what. If that is the case then you'll probably have no issues.
  16. Arctic F12's. Can get them in all kinds of configurations for really cheap all around the world as far as I am aware.
  17. I'm totally going to agree with you there. I now run dual 1080's in my rig and must admit that performance cannot be matched in some of the titles I play when it comes to FPS per £. Total for both cards came to £525 overall... Might sell one eventually though haha.
  18. Honestly... I'm stunned that you can comfortably say that WiFi is closer to a power-line adapter than an actual copper cable is. The point I'm trying to make is that sure, power-line does indeed transmit data over RF but this is still done through a wired fashion and as such will be better than a wireless connection, that's pure fact. It's like comparing a car (wired) and a boat (wireless) in the way that they get over a flowing body of water, say for example it is a river we are talking about. The car will go straight over the river by bridge and will not/cannot divert its course, the boat however, can still get from one side to the other but will inherently drift due to current/flow of the river which impacts the boats ability to go straight over and as such cannot take a directly straight crossing.
  19. I believe you are misinformed here... Using power-line adapters does indeed apply to the "It's wired so it's better" as you put it. Power-line adapters still send data over wired connections, however, these wired connections just so happen to also be used by the main's power that all your electrical devices connect to. There is virtually no difference between these and an Ethernet cable, especially considering that most new and decent power-line adapters will be able to clean up the electrical interference that other devices (such as Vacuum cleaners) may introduce to the power supply. Coming from someone that has a fantastic WiFi connection and still changed to power-line adapters... I can certainly say that they are much better than WiFi.
  20. I would recommend power-line adapters and Ethernet cables. Can't beat that solution
  21. Alrighty... So just get something similar to this... HDMI from your GPU and then the DVI-D to your monitor... Literally took seconds to search for online... In fact I have one in use right now... HDMI is already digital and so is DVI-D so there is no need to find an active/powered cable, this is only needed if you are going from an analogue to digital signal.
  22. So let me get this straight... Is this the connector that you are looking to use for your monitor? Also... Windows can cause this issue. Try stopping Windows from automatically updating/installing drivers and you may have luck here.
  23. What are you talking about? Adapters exist so that you don't have to buy GPU's based on their outputs... so you can buy any GPU you like and then get the adapter to work with your monitor.... Also... Are you sure your 970 has died? Windows is likely the cause of your issues and not the card itself.
  24. I'd be willing to bet so However... I'm using a Huawei device so I can imagine a bit more than my ass is glowing... ooof
  25. I've got a pair of BeoVox 1001 passive speakers that I use as part of my main set up. They were manufactured in 1971 so they're a good 48 years old.
