  1. sorry for the late reply, I do not know if they removed the package manager as for trying to download through store.rg-adguard.net, I haven't heard of it previously checking now, it looks like an alternate way to download MS store stuff but I am confronted with 2 options a .appx and a .BlockMap which do I use? As per the win10ame documentation stated, it doesn't work I tried too - no luck.
  2. Hello, I've seem to have run into an issue; I've decided to use windows 10 ameliorated on my laptop because I prefer it over the original and am trying to install nvidia drivers on it Trying to use the DCH drivers won't install nvidia control panel (which I'll call NCP for simplicity) because DCH tries to download it from the microsoft app store However, Win10ame removes the ms app store So I tried the Standard drivers instead. However, as noted here, Standard drivers won't install on a laptop running win10ame Is there a solo install of NCP, not tied to a driver or MS app store? or perhaps another solution that will work (without switching to normal Windows 10)? if any additional information is needed, simply ask and I'll answer thank you all very much in advance
  3. thank you and everyone else for the help. at least I know my drive is failing before it goes kaput so i can backup my stuff in time Still wondering if you have any hdd recommends tho. for now i'm planning to buy another wd caviar black 2TB
  4. yeah... fuck this sucks what a way to end the week welp, let's get to backups i guess
  5. i'll go buy a drive on sunday then (sunday is a workday over here) you guys got any recommendations? if not i'll probably just buy another WD black 2TB it's use is literally everything games, music, projects, whatever. my priority is longlasting and high performance
  6. wait, sorry, i'm a tad confused. was there a joke that I missed that flew over my head?
  7. i'm just transfering one folder at a time. if you know of a better way to do this, please tell. I am backing up family memories, and i'd really not want them to be corrupted
  8. I never checked, but it doesn't feel slower than usual. I downloaded, installed and played a game just today. if there was a slowdown, it has been either minor or over the course of it's life. no sudden changes as far as I can tell
  9. Hello there I've recently started experiencing this issue where my computer seems to forget one of my harddrives is connected. If I do a rescan devices in the Disk Management program, the drive will appear again and work temporarily, but might disappear again after a while. I haven't recognized a pattern as to when this happens. The computer and harddrive in question are roughly 6 or 7 years old with as much use as you'd expect from a gamer/enthusiast - heavy use. A few hours a day everyday with a lot of read/writes to the harddrive (downloading/using: games, movies, music, shows, programs/work, etc). this harddrive is literally my "everything but the OS" drive. The HDD is a WD Black 2TB (i can get exact model number if requested). I am running windows 7 on this pc. here is a youtube video i made that shows you the problem as I see it: if you need more details that will help solve this issue, I will gladly provide.
  10. Also, can I use Bumblebee and/or Nouveau Prime in Wine? If yes, how? Cause I want to run games on this laptop.
  11. Hello, I'm still a bit new to linux, and as my first distro I chose Fedora. Right now I'm trying to get games to run well, and I see that my laptop has something called Nvidia Optimus. From what I can gather, this software doesn't allow me to use my gpu normally on linux, since they don't play well together. TL;DR I need to know which I should be using. Project Bumblebee or Nouveau Prime/Optimus. Or if I even need this. thanks in advance!
  12. I've since completely formatted the drive deleting Linux. Still no luck. I'm gonna go to sleep for now. If I succeed or fail, I'll probably post back here. As of right now, It seems my laptop is gonna be Linux only, which is gonna be annoying cause I need to work on code and I like using VS2015 and Notepad++
  13. So, what do you think? should I reset the pc and try again (maybe I moved the USB drive or something)
  14. Honestly, I only have one USB drive. Means I keep switching OS installs on it if I ever need to. Hopefully we can keep the switching to a minimal, though I will do it as many times as I need too. I wonder why they had the drivers like that. It's so weird and clunky in the bad way. Luckily, I have a cd for drivers and stuff as well as my usb drive (plus, this is for my laptop. I still have my desktop which is working fine, which means downloads and stuff can be done easily, as well as help while the laptop is doing stuff) Also, this "Starting Windows" aint budging. For now I'll leave it on until you guys have a plan of action I can take
  15. I got it recognized using Rufus, so that's good. But it looks like it's stuck on "starting windows"... For now I'll leave it on and hope that it continues. Though, I am doubtful it will.
  16. yep, bootable usb. also I'll probably need help with GRUB. I'm quite new to the linux stuff. Gonna give this another go now. I used something else, not rufus, so I'm attempting with that now
  17. 1. not offered at bootup 2. Honestly, I just wanted to see if it would work. my goal was to see if I can make it work if I can just open setup.exe.....obviously that wasn't the case.
  18. Hello, I'm having an issue; I own a Lenovo Y50-70 laptop and am trying to install windows 7 on it as a dual boot with Linux Mint which is already installed. The issue comes as follows: I have an installation disk for windows (external DVD drive), and for some reason on bootup, it isn't recognized. I tried transferring the disk to a usb flash drive (Which I used to install Linux Mint 19.2 today without any issues or hiccups), That didn't work either. I tried using WINE to install windows 7, but I can't seem to manage, I keep coming to the error on the win7 setup which says "To install Windows, make sure that a partition on your boot disk has at least 826 megabytes of free space". I'm willing to try quite a few things. I would like to clarify that I want a Dual Boot solution for Win7 and Linux, and would rather avoid a Virtual Machine windows inside of my linux. Thank you in advance for all the help!
