  1. I want the Kova, since my deathadder just died (a month after the warranty expired) and I need a new mouse.
  2. Ran with one stick of ram in the furthest slot - success! Also tested each stick individually in each slot, and ran prime95 on each test. One stick crashed within ten minutes of the stress test, while the other kept on going strong. We're returning that ram stick, and hopefully that should fix all of our problems. Thanks!
  3. Hey all, so I've recently built a PC for my Mom as she's been wanting to swap over from mac for sometime. We decided on building her a system with an AMD A10 7050K, Gigabyte F2A88XN-WIFI mobo, Corsair CX 600 watt PSU, and 16 gigs of Kingston HyperX Fury memory. We're also using a Samsung 850 evo SSD. However, we're having issues even getting through installing Windows onto the computer. Whenever we start, the PC will either freeze when the windows starting symbol is up, or freeze on mobo splash screen and random dots will one by one start appearing on the screen. It also started to artifact on the boot drive selection screen back when we were just testing it with one of her old hard drives. I've ran a memory test with no errors, and swapped out her memory for the Crucial Ballistix Sport memory in my computer only for the same issues to occur. We also RMA'd both the processor and mobo earlier, and replacing either of those hasn't fixed the problem. Lastly, we also tested with another PSU we have, but that didn't fix the issue. We have also tried forcing integrated graphics (not using a PCIE card) over the PCI slot incase it was trying to use PCI graphics instead, but that also hasn't fixed anything. Does anybody have an idea on what could be wrong? Both my dad and I are completely stumped on what could be wrong. Below are links to pictures of the errors that have occurred. 4. Their Aria headset is my favourite. It's just plain sexy. Just... the wood grain, metal assembly, looks beautiful. Good luck to everybody else!

  6. For soldering, first wrap the wires around each other, solder, then heatshrink - don't solder them side by side, that just makes your job more difficult. On top of that, when soldering the wires, first heat up the connection with the soldering iron for a few seconds, then while still heating up the connection, bring the solder to the connection. It should easily flow across both wires, then pull away the solder when done, followed by pulling away the soldering iron. And on top of that, most solder contains flux these days, so a flux pen isn't necessary when simply soldering two wires together (however, extra flux can be useful if the wires are extremely oxidized). Finally, a good video from Adafruit (they sell hobbyist electronics) on soldering. You can ignore some of the particulars about tip sizes too, any tip should get the job done well enough for what you guys need.
  7. My favourite would be the CPU cooler. I'm running on an air cooler at the moment, and would like to upgrade to a liquid cooler, but there's more important parts in my system at the moment that need upgrading (such as my mobo). GL to everybody else!
  8. Congrats Linus! I got involved in your community when the unofficial LTT Conglomerate was formed for Star Citizen, and this place has been really amazing. The community is very helpful at answering any questions, and doesn't disregard people who have no experience with what they're doing. I hope that this community keeps on growing, and good luck to everybody else! (mind sending the prize my way if you get it...?)
  9. Use 3M double sided foam tape (can find some at pretty much any store) or if you want to be really fancy, stick magnetic strips to the back of your LEDs so you can easily remove them.
  10. Just wanted to share this little project I've been working on for the past few days. I had a HC-06 Bluetooth Serial module laying around, so I figured I would hook it up to a microcontroller and some RGB LEDs to light up my build. So first off, let's start with the control board. I hooked up a spare attiny85 to the bluetooth serial module (plugged into the four pin female header in the top right of the board), allowing it to communicate with my phone over bluetooth. The large capacitor is there just to protect the LEDs from voltage spikes when booting up. (attached in case, using 5V molex for power). Next up is LED choice - I went with the Adafruit Neopixel 1M strip, because these are RGB LEDs that are individually addressable, meaning each one of them can be a separate color from the others, as shown in their product pic below. Even though I likely won't use this feature in my build, it can be fun to have a flashy rainbow pattern just to show off once in a while. Finally, you're probably wondering how it looks. This is how it looks with specific LEDs lighting up the GPU (the white is much more blue in this pic). This is the LEDs on a single color, cyan. I personally think this looks the best. And this is how it looks with a random assortment of colors. Thanks for taking your time to check this out! If any of you have suggestions on how to improve this, feel free to leave them in the comments, as feedback is greatly appreciated.
  11. I like the front facing speakers on the Z2. Dbrand is awesome for partnering up with all the youtubers for giveaways and whatnot. Their skins are also extremely good at protecting your phone too - I had one on my N5, and after taking it off (had to send it back for replacement), the back was just as perfect as the day I unboxed it.
  12. I use the Turtle Beach XP7's for gaming, but only because I won them a couple years back. And I use some bad apple earbuds for music because my Razer Krakens broke.
  13. CPU fan is 4pin, but the issue is definitely in software. After googling around a bit, apparently I just have an older ASUS BIOS that doesn't include the startup voltage option. Thanks for everyone's help though!
  14. This one is extremely useful to send to clueless friends that don't know the difference between display types. And then this one because... it's cheesy. That's it.
