Kev got a reaction from NobleGamer in What if?... Ubiquiti disappears.
For what it's worth, as someone who uses UniFi gear to make money, absolutely nothing changes, at least in the short term. If you are serious about supporting UniFi gear in a highly reliable way, you need to be hosting your own console, or paying hostifi for hosting. You can't rely on Ubiquiti to provide reliable hosting. And I don't mean a cloud key or UGW/DreamMachine.

At work, we have thousand of UniFi devices deployed to small shops, random offices, and a number of larger deployments (largest is ~1000 active clients, we push for Meraki at larger sites but this was an existing install we fixed). We host the controller on VM with a large cloud provider. We stage firmware versions to a couple test sites and don't use auto-updates. We don't use UniFi gateways and avoid their switches (until recently, the newer ones are more reliable then the ones from 4 or 5 years ago based our number of failed switches).

At home I have UniFi controller running in Docker.
I never have a single problem with either of these deployments. AMA

So yeah, I would assume the average person would think it's okay to use the in shower.

Just to be sure you know that it isn't what people imagined, but what dbrand themselves listed as the parts of the kit. The $3 wasn't even to reserve, but to express interest. You do get a $3 credit on ordering, but again, you still have to order on a first come first serve basis with everyone else who wants one. Or you can email to get a refund of your $3.

I believe it is likely many fewer people would have put in their money had they listed their plans and what would be in the kit on release.

Kev reacted to Spotty in Youtube's 'Dislike' button barely works according to Mozilla report
You would think the "Not Interested" button would work better than dislike, but according to the report by Mozilla clicking "Not Interested" on a recommended video was the least effective way of preventing similar/related videos from appearing, preventing only 11% of bad recommendations compared to 12% for Dislike.
"Not Interested" removes that particular video from your recommended feed, but it is according to Mozilla's report the least effective method of preventing Youtube from recommending related/similar videos. Mozilla gives a few examples in their report, but things like follow up videos to the same topic from the same channel are still just as likely to appear; for example a US talk show that was split up in to small segments uploaded to Youtube, the other segments are almost just as likely to still be recommended after clicking "Not Interested", or they might be extremely similar videos from the same channel "Top 10 horror movies that will shock you" and "7 more horror movies that will keep you awake at night!" that still get recommended after clicking Not Interested on the first video.

For example if Youtube is recommending a bunch of Tik Tok Compilation videos and you don't want to watch those, clicking Dislike on the videos or "Not Interested" will have almost no effect on removing those types of videos from your recommended feed. Youtube might not show you that particular video again but it will keep showing you other similar/related videos. If you click "Not Interested" on "Funny Tik Tok compilation 83" Youtube is still just as likely to recommend you the other 82 "Funny Tik Tok compilation" videos from the same creator.

Aside from the "Don't recommend this channel", Youtube seems to lack any meaningful way of removing unwanted or bad recommendations. There's no effective way to indicate "I'm not interested in this type of video". Whereas something like Google's news feed on phones gives a "Not interested in <topic>" option to dismiss related articles.

That's something I've been annoyed with as well. More and more videos seem to get stuck in the recommended feed for weeks until you interact with them, either watching them or clicking not interested/don't recommend channel. Dammit Youtube, if I didn't watch the video the first 29 times you recommended it to me I'm probably not going to watch it the 30th time.

You're at equal risk to your health opening a bag of chips to "poking around" in a cellphone. It's very disingenuous to sweep all electronic devices under the same rug of equivalent danger. This isn't even debatable, it's literally in laws and legislation and why electrical certifications exist (of different grades).

Electronic devices can, have and are made to be user serviceable, even mains voltage supplied devices, and there are standards and guidelines for this.

Not allowing consumer repair is a choice not a safety risk. Generally at best it's a choice through laziness, hence why legislation may be required to move that needle towards the consumer.

Consumer repair comes in two forms; self repair and professional service. Both, one or the other should always be an option with fair and reasonable restriction of the original manufacturer on who and how that work is carried out i.e. device warranty. If said manufacturer wants to keep repairs "in network" then offer a superior or cheaper service than "out of network".

Kev reacted to LAwLz in BitLocker in layman's terms?
    This is kind of wrong.

These are kind of wrong as well.

Bitlocker encrypts your hard drive. That's what it does. Encrypting the hard drive means that you need a password (not your Windows password) to decrypt it.
I think the confusion comes from the fact that you can configure BitLocker in multiple ways.

It seems like you are thinking of BitLocker in what I believe is called "TPM-only" mode. In this mode, the decryption key is stored in the TPM and is automatically loaded when Windows boots. This provides protection in two ways:
    1) It prevents someone from removing the hard drive and attempting to read it on another PC.
    2) By using the TPM and Secure Boot, it can verify that you are booting from unmodified firmware. If the firmware that is loaded during the boot sequence does not pass the validation checks (done by secure boot) the boot process can be halted before Windows is even decrypted. As a result, some types of malware can't access your stored data.

BitLocker in TPM-only mode is not the most secure way of configuring BitLocker though. That title goes to BitLocker when configured with a PIN.
If you enable "additional authentication at startup", you can insert an additional password protection layer into the boot process. This works by requiring the user to input a special BitLocker PIN before the drive is decrypted. The decryption step is usually handled automatically by the TPM, but in this mode the user has to input a password first. This is what that looks like.
This result in the computer having essentially two passwords (the first one can be replaced with a USB drive as well).
One to boot and decrypt the drive, and one to login to Windows.

In this mode it protects you from various attacks:
    1) It protects you from the malicious firmware attack.
    2) It protects you from someone bypassing the Windows login by plugging the drive into another computer or booting a USB Live CD.
    3) It protects you from someone booting your PC and just looking at your data, even if they know your password (because you got two passwords).

Here is how I would describe BitLocker to someone who didn't know anything about it:
It prevents someone from reading your data if they stole your PC. Without it, someone could just take your hard drive, plug it into another PC and then see all your files.

When trying to explain something, first focus and explain what something does. Then if you want to dig deeper you can continue with what it doesn't do.
In your first post, literally the first sentence of your "explanation" is giving an example of when you believe it wouldn't help. You don't explain what something does by listing things and scenarios where it doesn't help.

I think this cooler is just a bit of a turd. Here's a photo:

This cooler is 2 cm thick and the fan tops out at ~2500 RPM! I'm honestly surprised it does as well as it does. Before I replaced it (with a DeepCool AK620 I'm idling around 34 C, load high 80s C, 22 C ambient, solved my bluescreening issue) I checked the thermal paste application (stock AMD paste), checked mount, tested with and without case (Antec P5) open, and got the same results with the stock cooler.

I suspect the cooler being a couple inches away from an MSI 1080ti in a case meant for shorter cards was pushing it over the edge too bluescreening. But come on! This cooler is 2 cm thick.

HAhaa, I had forgotten about that. Back when I signed up it was a thing for a short time to put a fake meme build in your profile. Thankfully I don't have a Xigmatek Recon and never have. I did almost buy a L337 Gaming GANK DRONE Z87H3-A3X back then tho.

Not sure if you guys understand just how thin the stock 5600XT cooler is.. not sure why they even bothered. What a piece of junk. When I first got my 5600XT I couldn't use my Le  Grand Macho RT, so I used the stock cooler that came with my 3600XT instead because it is about twice as thick as the 5600XT cooler, if not more.. Seriously, I have made thicker sandwiches than that cooler.
