  1. I hope the beef up the suicide nets they have between their factory roofs... those robots are going to just go right through the rope ones they're using now.
  2. See the red gap marked "37MM CLEARANCE?" I'm asking if that's 37MM. The fan would be removed, a radiator+fan that totals 37MM would replace it.
  3. Is this specifically for rendering or is this your Blender workstation? Meaning, are you intending to be using this for live rendered view? Also, can you be more specific on "really big scenes"? About how many polygons? How many samples? How many frames if you're doing animations?
  4. I'm guessing by your tense that the case is gone, huh? If you had to guess, do you think you could squeeze 37mm to the side of the motherboard from the side of the case to the RAM module? Basically it's like an extra half of a fan past the fan that's there. P.S. I'm probably not going to use the ODD bay. I was considering it, but then when I saw how much space it took up with the clips, I figured I wouldn't want to waste the available cable management space. I'll see once I do the build if I think I can fit it in... but if you have another reason why not to use it, let me know.
  5. Seriously... I thought I was just humoring you by clearing them, but you ended up being right. I had no idea Google was somehow using other website's cookies to modify search results. It's not like I deleted any Google cookies... I specifically deleted only WCCFtech.com cookies.
  6. Does anyone have this case? I'm looking to buy it for a refresh of my HTPC. I'm currently using an nMediaPC 5000B which I hate and I love the aesthetics of the 605. I'm also wondering, if any of you have it, if you would be able to tell me if you think I could sneak a SilverStone Tundra TD02-Slim onto the right-side fan ports... I know one of them won't line up because there is a space in between the two fans, but I'm more concerned about clearance with the motherboard. The entire rad+fan is only 37mm, so I'm hoping it would fit but can't find a good reference picture to confirm. On a side note, would anyone like to buy a used nMediaPC 5000B? It's a great HTPC case and I love it. PM me for info.
  7. Seriously... now I'm wondering just how screwed up my search results are because I have thousands of cookies stored... I guess I'm going to have to clear the lot of them on a regular basis again.
  8. Looks like deleting WCCFTech cookies fixed it... I didn't realize Google was using these cookies to prioritize search results. I'm not exactly sure how they're even doing it because they can't read another site's cookies or anything... I guess they poll these sites for the information as they're generating your results or something? I can see their reasoning, but I'd prefer it if they were more transparent about it and allowed me to turn something like that off. I'd rather see the most popular results rather than it trying to figure out what they think I want.
  9. Google.com and I could simply search for "GTX 1080" and it will appear as the top News result. If I search "GTX 1080 release date" or some other specifier like that, it dominates the top of my search results. Are you located in the US?
  10. Are they doing something to manipulate the search engine spiders because regardless of what I search for, as long as it's related to PC components, they're always like the top five results on Google. I'm not a huge fan of their reporting as they tend to report on loose speculation and single, unreliable sources (though occasionally they're right and end up being the first to report on something). It bugs me though that they're dominating search results... are they just a bigger, go-to source than I'm realizing or is there some search result manipulation going on?
  11. Yeah, as I said, I'll go for 4K on whatever games I can manage to squeeze it out in while maintaining comfortable frame rates, but I wouldn't beat myself up for not spending an extra $300 to buy a GPU that can run the newest AAA titles at 4K. I can play at 1080p sitting 10ft away from my TV without being thrown out of the immersion. To be honest, I'm on quite a backlog of games, so I'm likely going to be playing 1-3 year old titles for the next year or so. The difference between the 1070 and the 970 might just be an extra $80 or so... so like I said, it depends on the benchmarks when they come out, but if it's in the range of 30% better or more than the 970 (which it likely could be), then I might spring for the newer card.
  12. Yeah, I recognize the potential for a bottleneck with extremely high-end GPUs, but really the bottleneck on a 1080 SLI setup is likely going to come at absurdly high frame rates on CS:GO at 1080p. What I'm really asking is if it can deliver a comfortable 1080p experience (say 50 FPS minimum) without causing any issues in whatever GPU I choose. My intention isn't to shatter benchmark records, it's just to get a gaming experience without studdering. 4K gaming on older titles and likely 1080p gaming for more modern titles. When I end up buying a new GPU it wouldn't be any better than a single GTX 1070, but I can't really be sure what I'm getting until I see benchmarks. (I'm also crossing my fingers for a sub-7-inches model for that card)
  13. I'm looking to upgrade some components of my HTPC and I'm wondering if it's worth it to do a full rebuild. It's powered by an i7-870 CPU which I can potentially overclock in the range of 4Ghz... I know it will run basically any modern game without bottlenecking the GPU, but I'm wondering how long that will last. Do you think it will go a few more years? I know people are still making Q6600s work which is around 2.5 years older, so I'd like to believe I can get another 3 years out of it, but I'm wondering what you all think. Thanks.
  14. Yeah, but how much of that are you seeing in gaming benchmarks? As of right now, the main CPU intensive thing I'd be doing is emulating 6th gen consoles and I have every reason to believe that the 870 will do that just fine as my 530 very nearly does it fine. Until the 7th gen console emulators get to a point where I can unplug the physical consoles and toss them in a closet, I don't see the point of buying a cutting edge CPU since they'll only get better from now until then. I really don't see any reason to buy a new system at this time, I'm just wondering if I should be "maxing out" my current platform since it's pretty cheap to do so.
