Yeah case was open when we first tested it.  buttoning it up hasn't made it worse so i doubt it is the case now.
Ok, thank you.  We're reinstalling Windows at the minute see if that helps at all.

Not correct. Ia m also running an 11400f version though, and temps are fine even on cinebench run... I've only got a bequiet pure rock slim 2 cooler on it too.... complete build https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/BMWCC6

OP, I'd say it might be your case that's limiting it, or possibly even the mounting pressure of the cooler. At idle (for me this includes running jellyfin server, some nzb stuff and others), it's sitting at 42-44C mostly, and case fans etc are set to very low too, almost inaudible. Cinebench run took it up to 90C towards the very end of a single run on multi-core. Was running at 4.2Ghz all core. If left running it might eventually reach the point of throttling, but that could be addressed by getting more fresh air into the case, or buying a better cooler... if you've already tried a better cooler, which you have, then to me that suggests it might be the case isn't getting enough air in possibly... try running it with the case open and see how it goes.

One does not discredit the other.
The vulnerability got patched, and you know what you can do with devices that don't have the luxury of being updated to the newest Android Version? Install a custom rom.

What can you do with an Apple product that no longer receives any updates at all? Buy another one, that's it.
Hell, even Microsoft still pushes updates on OS'es they stopped supporting for years (XP) to mitigate critical vulnerabilities.

By this logic then you should have no problem with companies like Microsoft, Apple and Google becoming monopolies and absorbing every other tech company out there giving you less choice and giving them full control. Because that's what you'll end up with if you just let bussiness run how they see fit, the biggest ones will become monopolies and absorb everything else around them to maintain their leadership. While definitely not perfect, regulation of business is definitely needed in many cases. At the end of the day giving the consumer more choice and protection isn't bad.

True, but the failure rate during a rebuild is quite a bit higher than during regular home NAS activities just due to it being under much heavier load. But with all of that said, drive reliability is much higher than years past.

As for having a backup, something that this board has taught me, most people (despite being told time and time again that RAID is not a backup) don't actually listen and don't have a backup, treating the RAID as the backup...

Windows 11 22H2 Update has just been released. And while many are waiting for their wave to come to get this new, much needed, update, Microsoft is on fire releasing a new wave of features for the 22H2 update of Windows 11. Codename "Moment 1", however, has no official name. It is being delivered as a Cumulative Update for Windows 11 22H2.

The update has been announced, and should land on Windows 11 22H2 PCs soon, if it's not there already.

This update falls onto Microsoft new update model it is now trying, which is releasing new features as they are ready, and not have users having to wait a full year before we get it. For example, taskbar drag and drop support was one of such features that arrived in Windows 11 Insider builds and remained there for nearly a year, despite reaching a polished stage.

    What's new?

    File Explorer Tab Support
File Explorer now has tab support! The much-requested feature has finally arrived.
Tabs can be created simply by hitting the '+' button like you can in your web browser. New Tabs can be opened by Middle-Clicking on a folder. You can re-order tabs as expected as well by dragging and dropping them. The only thing you can't do, from what I can personally see, is dragging a tab out or in.

    Snipping Tool - Screen Recorder
Snipping Tool can now record a portion of your screen as video.
This feature will be available through the Store as an update.
This update will come at the end of October.

    Photo App - iCloud Support
The new Photo app now has iCloud support.

This feature will be available through the Store as an update.
This update will come at the end of October.

    Suggested Actions
Selected text, like phone number or dates will show a suggested action panel to perform a quick action.
For example, if you select a date, a menu will show a menu to create an event in Outlook in similar fashion to modern Android powered devices.

    Taskbar Overflow support
Yes, that is right, since Windows 11 was released, the Taskbar never supported overflows of app being displayed. It would just show you the last app as the focused item and hide the others until you close others. Now, this update introduces that feature. An item with 3 dots "..." will show where, once click, a menu with the other apps that aren't able to show will be presented.

Open Task Manager from the Taskbar
Yes, you can now right-click on the taskbar and open the Task Manager as prior version of Windows.

Amazon App Store for Android apps - open to more people
Amazon App Store for running Android apps is now open to 31 countries, including Canada, Australia, France, Japan, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom.
    Full list of countries: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/countries-and-regions-that-support-amazon-appstore-on-windows-d8dd17c7-5994-4187-9527-ddb076f9493e

    Windows Terminal is now default
Windows Terminal is now the default command console window of Windows 11.
Windows Terminal is the new command terminal window of Microsoft which is open source and brings up a huge set of improvements over the old Command Prompt.
    It brings:
Tab support In window/panel split screen for multi-view pane Emoji support with UTF char support allowing rich text experience Customizable and lots lots more. If you have never used it, use it!

    Full screen Widgets panel
The Widget panel can now expand into a full screen view with the new expanding button available at the top of the panel.
Microsoft is still working on bringing third party support for widgets as promised. Documentation has already started to appear on MS Dev doc website.

The recommendation is to have a 1080p library in addition to the 4k library. I suppose these days as GPU’s do get faster this is potentially being less of a hard and fast rule. But… it’s certainly still an option.

OK, so if I'm getting this right.

You can disconnect the SATA SSD. Then install windows on your NVME drive... that would mean though that there is a bootloader on each drive, and you would set one of them to be your boot drive in the bios/uefi. That would mean by default it would boot into that drive unless told otherwise. If you wanted to boot into the other drive you could hit F11 during POST to choose the other drive to boot.

    ^this.

It's definitely a hardware fault. But could even be just a faulty PSU cable, I'm assuming though that the chieftec PSU isn't modular?  but hopefully it has another GPU cable you can try?
If no luck there, i'd carry on with what others mentioned above.

paddy-stone reacted to NaClKnight in PC suddenly not turning on.
Let's focus on this part. Does toggling the power switch on he back of the PSU achieve the same result as removing the wall cable and  waiting a few seconds?

What you're describing is typical of a PSU failure, where some protection, overvoltage or overcurrent or etc, is being triggered on the PSU

It's possible that the GPU is faulty and is triggering the fault, but you'd need to try a different PSU or GPU to confirm. My first guess is the PSU is choking on the GPU during POST

paddy-stone reacted to Doobeedoo in USB Kill off SuperSpeed (and USB4!) Branding as it tries to simplify its ubiquitous connector
Well as for "SuperSpeed" I've never heard people using that even yet we've seen "SS" stamped too. Waste of space really.
But not sure, I was fine with USB4 name it kinda fixed all prior mess with older ver and old connector. So 4 being a new slate per say and C only. But, naming them with speed designation alone can also be a problem. I alluded to this before, because USB4 for example can be 10Gbps on low bar and is C connector but older A can get faster. Always felt that lowest speed of newer version made no sense. Why they had to make this mess I'm not sure. New ver should start at double of fastest older one or at least same, not slower it's stupid.
Version naming incorporated at least both in a way. Like USB4 but yeah. Either way type C needs to become new standard faster why do so many slack is annoying. But seeing speed and wattage is good.

    Summary
They are killing off not only SuperSpeed branding, but USB(4) as anything consumer facing, they have decided to no longer show the usb version implementation to users, but rather market their products based off of implemented features.
All USB imlementations will simply be called USB XXbps
    eg: "USB 40gbs"

As Lapsed said, Robocopy is your friend here. It can do a lot of advanced things using switches.
Some notable ones for you would be:

    /MIR - Mirror a directory tree/structure
    /COPYALL - Copies Data, Attributes & Timestamps
/DCOPY:T - Copies Timestamps for directories
/XO - Exclude older files (if a newer one exists in the destination it will not overwrite it)
/LOG+:<filename> - You can create a log that you can go back through to see whats been done
/MT:<number of threads> - Multithread file copies for increased performance, good for dealing with lots of small files.

So using Lapsed batch script, your command line might look something like this
    robocopy %SourceDir% %DestinationDir% /MIR /COPYALL /DCOPY:T /XO /MT:8 /LOG+:C:\Temp\mybackups.log
When you're happy with it, you can use Task Scheduler to setup a recurring job to run the batch script.

You can also test it doing a "dry run" by using the /L switch
If you add /L (means List-only), then it will still create your log (defined by /LOG+:<filename>) to show you what actions it would take, but it does not actually run a copy. It only shows you what actions it would take if it were to really be run. You can remove the /L switch when youre happy with what its doing. This is more useful if youre wanting to merge existing data and remove old sources but want to double check you have your command line correct before making a change. Probably not required in your case.
