Who are we to tell dogs that they're incorrectly using their bed?

Body and head fully in donut shape? Correct.
Rest only the head on the edge? Correct?
Laying right next to it barely touching it? Also correct.

Willie has gone from ~20lbs to 75 in three months, but I still cannot resist holding him.

The next photos are from late January.

Here he is right after I got him, early Jan.

Thanks for the suggestion. I found out the LF2 series had 7 (!) revisions in circulation, and the included MX-4 is replaced by MX-5 in the 5th revision. Whereas LF3 incorporates all previous improvements and comes with MX-6.

Ordered a LF3 280 without RGB for $86 ($103 after shipping) from Amazon US. Shipping cost is way more reasonable there.

Its to replace my old Corsair AIO that was not cooling as well as I'd like. Both CPU and VRMs. It also had annoying RGB lighting up my room at night when computer is turned off.

Go on Amazon to see if it's as cheap there. I went on Amazon.uk and can get the 240 Arbg for £62

    Summary

Several paragraphs of text have been decoded from the inside of a scroll that was buried during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. These scrolls were too fragile to physically unroll, so researchers took high resolution CT scans of the scrolls, and released the data to the public, promising $700,000 to the first team to decode 4 passages from the inside of the scroll, based on the scan (along with a number of other prizes along the way), before the end of 2023.

    My thoughts
This is an achievement that could only have been done with machine learning, and the technical feat here can't be understated. It has taken a lot of work to get this far, it's incredible to see what the community can achieve when it's given a goal like this. The $1M+ prize pool (donated by various mostly rich people) certainly helped to incentivise people to participate, and it will be interesting to see if this model gets adopted for any other projects in the future. If they are able to achieve their goal of extending this technology to read all 800 scrolls, this will be a big breakthrough in our understanding of Ancient Rome, let alone the other potential places where this technology could be used.

paddy-stone reacted to Middcore in Replying to another trash hot take from Linus.
You showed up to "reply" to something Linus supposedly said which you were mad about, while admitting he might not have even said what you claimed he did. When people asked where and when Linus said this, you said you would try to find it, then disappeared. Weeks later after everyone else has moved on, you pop back up still mad and admit you could never find where he said it but insist that he definitely did say it (because you're infallible, I guess) and insult the forum in general for daring to question you. Is this really all you have going on?

Meanwhile you don't bother to reply to any of the thoughtful comments people made about the point Linus may have been making, or even to explain what this video about AI has to do with the topic.

That check mark with the number 217 under my name means there have been over 200 times people said I provided the most helpful answer to their questions or the solution for their problems. But even if all I did was post replies that make people laugh, it would still be contributing more to this community than what you're doing.

My dog would lick me all over if she could. She started at 8 wks old when we got her too. She almost daily decides she wants to lick my head (I'm balding, and shave my head), so she jumps up on the couch that I sit in front of on the floor, and proceeds to put her paws on my shoulders and lick all over the top and back of my head... I don't mind it though personally, but my family look disgusted often 🤣

She will be five in another month, time has absolutely blown past.

Our smaller terrier corgi (??) mix is an incessant licker of people. Pretty sure he'd lick your skin off if he could. I've taught him NO LICK but he only pauses long enough to make sure you see how insulted he looks. Sometimes he licks his paw then slowly tries to transition licking the leg or arm his paw is on while taking side eye glances to see if you noticed yet. He's now taken to shrieking when he doesn't get his way.

The scandal broke a number of years ago, this is just the UK government finally moving on compensation. It predates the pandemic in first breaking as a story and AFAIK and was only discovered when someone with independent hard records that were stronger in provenance was able to prove the software wrong, thats when everyone started looking into it.

It';s just taken this long for the UK government to finally get through the bureaucracy of acting on the findings of the investigation into the mess that occurred.

This is a big part of why the government is partially footing the bill. There where a lot of mistakes made all along the line that amounted to trusting the software was right no matter what.

Yes it's working fine, as above. For example my HWINFO reports mine at 1800Mhz, but because it's DDR is actually 3600Mhz. We see this common misconception all the time on here, and everywhere TBH... you're no different to others that don't know these things, so no worries 🙂

    DDR = Double Data Rate
    so. 1800 x 2 = 3600.

Just a difference in the way each shows the spec.
    https://cpugpunerds.com/why-cpu-z-shows-memory-half-speed/

So yes, your XMP is on, and the RAM is working at the speed it was advertised.

IIRC & AFAIK, BIOS and Windows uses the technically incorrect way to show the speed.
It should be 3600MT/s which is 1800 Mhz x 2

Manufacturers too used the wrong measurement unit to advertise the speed and it stuck for way too long, it was starting to change back to the right one at the rise of DDR5, which often marketed with MT/s (6000 MT/s, 7200 MT/s, and so on)

Yeah depends on chipset, some mobos are able to update bios etc without cpu/ram, but TBH for testing purposes I don't think it's worth bothering... just wait for entire system and do a system test out of the chassis if possible. Worst thing is taking all the time and cable routing etc and then finding out your mobo or cpu or something is DOA. Even almost 30 years in I still do a bench test of components when doing a full system build/rebuild.
A few years back I skipped doing a testbench, heartbreaking when you have to remove almost the entire system in the end to send a part or 2 back as DOA... makes you remember for the next few times though, lol
