I have a home lab which I use to test software, host websites, docker containers, and serve media files using Jellyfin. It's an old gaming rig with the following specs:
CPU: Core i7 6800K
Motherboard: MSI X99A Godlike Gaming
RAM: 16 GB DDR4 2666 MHz (2* 8)
GPU: GT 710
PSU: Thermaltake TR2 S Series 550W
I am running Ubuntu server OS.
During the summer season, I am facing some extended power outages every few days in the week. I want to make sure that my server automatically turns on after power is restored. I was thinking of building an electrical module with a relay switch and connecting it to the power supply and the power switch pin in the motherboard. But I am not an electric engineer, so I am not sure if this will work. I am asking if anyone has a solution using off-the-shelf components first. If not I would love to get some directions on how to build the module.
N.B.: I do have an 2000VA offline UPS, it can't provide enough backup. -

What's your internet speed?
Everything looks like it will be compatible. The X5355 looks pretty decent for a simple pfsense router and you've got a good amount of RAM.
The thing about gigabit file, is it depends on the size of the packets you're transferring, and the amount of packets per second going through the router at the time.
My internet speed is 12 Mbps up/down.
But I have got a NAS in my home. I transfer video files to and from the NAS.
BTW what do you think should I take the X5355 for 5-10$? -
Here is the specification list:
- CPU: Intel PDC E5700
- RAM: 4 GB DDR3
- Network Cards:
- Onboard
- Realtek 100Mbit (which I know works with pfSense)
- Intel 8492MT Pro dual network adapter*
- Storage: 32 GB USB stick
Now, my question is will the * marked "Intel 8492MT Pro dual network adapter" work with pfsense and will my PDC E5700 able to handle gigabit speed file transfer?
And should I consider buying a Xeon X5355 from ebay for 5$?

Some vinyl wrapping should do the trick. It can be easily be put on and a heat gun is enough to remove it.
Good idea. I wish I had done some brainstorming before bugging you people.

well you could cut a circle which covers the clear plastic part on the pump.
Myself i would get some white plastic laser cut and then engraved then fit is with some superglue,
HOWEVER ONLY DO THAT IF IT OUT OF WARRANTY
I bought it just 3 months ago.

depends where the LED is but I DO NOT suggest doing it.
could you make a cover for it instead ?
I'd like suggestions for making that cover.

well part from dismantled the Pump and desolder it or cover it. not really
bad plan as it may be inline with power or monitoring pump speed
Is there any chance of leakage of the AIO liquid?

Why don't you return the cooler you've bought and replace it with one without leds?
They ain't replacing it for some reasons.

There is not extra LED cable, There's just one pump power cable.

I've a red and black color scheme. But I've bought this AIO which has a blue LED build-in it. It's the Cooler Master MasterLiquid Pro 240. Link: http://www.coolermaster.com/cooling/cpu-liquid-cooler/masterliquid-pro-240/
Is there any way I can turn that light off? I'm using electric tape to block it. But it does look good. Suggestions are appreciated. -

But when I use Adaptive mode, the CPU voltage rises to 1.266V in full utilization, and reduces to just 1.239V in rest. Am I doing something wrong? I'm new to overclocking.
Thanks, man!! I've fixed the issue.

The lower the temperature, the better. But 70C is fine for Intel's CPUs. In regards to voltage, it's best to reduce it as much as possible, and if you use Adaptive voltage in conjuction with Balanced power mode, you can make that happen.

Perfectly safe. Anything that you may have heard that would suggest otherwise?
I'm thinking of using this overclock for like everyday use. Once I heard someone say 70C is too hot for a CPUf ro daily use. Plus I'm running my CPU at 1.25V all the time. Is that Okay?

Those monitors start at $600. Generally they're much higher. You won't find one with those spec unless you double your budget.
*shudder* 1440p on that small of a screen for that price though...
May be I can go upto 800-900$. Will that be okay?

There is not an UltraWide Monitor been HDR with G Sync on top.
I recommend the Asus PG279Q but for $ 600 only the Acer Predator XB241YU
That's not an UltraWide monitor. I'd like to have the 21:9 ratio monitors with G-Sync enabled. I can live without HDR, but G-Sync and 21:9 is a must.

I can't tell yo specific numbers, but RX-480 and GTX 1060 are a little bit better in gaming. And why buy used goods, while you can buy new and better cards in the same price(I suppose).
2 minutes ago, AA-RonRosen said:Can you please specify why? I need a good reason if I want to make a decision.

Dude, get the RX 480 or go for 1060. I'd strongly recommend not to buy used products.

Hey,
I was thinking of buying a new monitor.
I want to have all the latest good stuffs like 1440p UltraWide (Curved is prefered) G-Sync Technology and may be HDR too. It'll be better if the panel is IPS, but other'll work if they have good viewing angle and better color gamuts too. Can you guys suggest me some of them? And if that monitor is more than 600$, then suggest me a good monitor for 600$.
P.S.: I'm using a GTX 1080, so keep it in consideration.
TIA

More than safe temps.
As long as it stays under 70°C you are golden.
I'm pretty sure you could push that 6800k to 4,2GHz and still be under 70°C, which is absolutely safe
My question is, Is it safe for everyday use?

My MSI Motherboard had the same problems. Try downloading the latest drivers from the Manufacturers website.

It's lit af.
Kinda similar specs to my System. I'd suggest to have a 750W PSU. Just to be on the safe side, you know. Nvidia recommends 550W for GTX 1080, so ya. It's all good.

I found the BIOS settings for it. I feel so stupid to not look through the BIOS before seeking some hardware solution. Thank you the issue is solved.
