You can grab the El Capitan installer from the App Store and use it to create your install media without installing it on your other Mac. I highly recommend it, especially since Unibeast/Multibeast for El Capitan use the Clover bootloader now and more things work right out of the box, like iMessage and Facetime.

For evga, I believe the only cards with significant OC-improving features are cards like the K|NGP|N cards, here or here. As you can see, these cards command a price tag of over $100 more than their reference counterparts, in particular the 980ti kingpin is $180 more than cheapest 980ti that evga has right now on amazon. These cards WILL overclock better, but not enough better to make up for the price tag, not even close. Therefore, these cards are for the people who do not care about price, and wish for the absolute best performance.
 
You'll notice that there is no card like this for the 970. This is because, by the time you design a kingpin-class 970 that costs $180 more, somebody could buy a reference 980 for the same price, and get much better performance, so there is no market at all for a card like that.

The FTW has better components for overclocking while the SC and SSC are pretty much reference cards.

i5 6600 for what you will be doing is way overkill. Since it seems you don't have a dedicated GPU, it would be much smarter to go with an AMD APU in your case. AMD APUs have much better onboard graphics than intel chips.
 
Asus H170m-plus is pretty good if you still do decide to go with intel. it does not look like you need any fancy mobo features.

I'm almost 100% confident that it should be yes for AMD for EVGA.

If anyone can help me update this warranty list (its about a year old atm) that would be awesome. I would love to keep an up to date list on this forum. Possibly make it a sticky (just because i have seen a lot of questions about if a certain gpu under warranty)

Apparently there are PCIe splitters out there, but I assume that the bandwith to your PCIe cards that you plug into the splitter would be decreased.

Your PC pulls about 300W from the wall with fancy overclocks. You just have a PSU not suited for a high-end GPU like yours.

I was once taking the heatspreaders off my RAM. On the last stick, one of the RAM chips came off with the heatspreader.

PC has many benefits over an iPad. I think the only thing the iPad beats it in is portability (unless you get an Ultrabook, which is also better than an iPad.)
Programming is also 100000000x easier on a keyboard, last I checked.

When resoldering DO NOT HOOK IT UP BACKWARDS.

Nothing is uncrackable, eventually they'll figure it out as always. Look at blu rays, it wasn't easy at first but now ripping one is no harder than tieing your shoelaces. Technology progresses and so do crackers.
