Hello all! This will be my first attempt at a build log, so don't kill me if I do something wrong

Here is a screen shot of what will be in the build:

Also, PCI-E powered risers will be here on Friday, so that part will be delayed a little bit.

This machine will be used for LITECOINS. DON'T TALK ABOUT ASIC.

Will post more pics once the build starts

Let me know if you want to know anything else

First 280X showed up. More packages should show up soon.

    More stuff arrived

Alright, the build is complete! The PCI-E risers didn't arrive today like they should have, so only 3 cards for now. More cards will be added when the rises come

Here are some picture- Yes, I know it is Ghetto. But, don't hate It's a first build!

More pictures to come when it's online and running

KneesWeak reacted to 2dfx in A true "less is more" approach for enthusiast motherboards
There is a surprising amount of true enthusiast options for those wishing to build a PC with top tier components.  Name it, there's an add-in card for it - sound, RAID cards, network controllers (the Killer series) etc.

Yet it seems there isn't a board out there that allows me to choose these components.  Instead, even in the case of the RIVE black edition, I'm having onboard components shoved down my throat.  There doesn't seem to be ANY manufacturer that will give me an enthusiast-grade board that is BAREBONES.  The last example that I could think of was Gigabyte's X58A-OC  http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3870#ov

And even in that case, I get a NIC and a basic onboard sound.

Give me a board with PS2+ a whole bunch of USB ports that I would have traditionally not used with USB headers for the 12 ports that any case typically wouldn't support.

LET ME add in my OWN sound solution, networking hardware, whatever!

    Thoughts?

    EDIT - here's the concept:

So after seeing PBaines desk. I got an idea for mine.
The theme is white and black and stained wood (of course)
All the parts i'm using aren't new there from my previous build (r4) Eventually i'd like to get new components since they are a bit out dated all ready and not as fast as id like.
    The parts list :

i5 3570k *Will update to 3930k or some CPU of that level.
    Gigabyte UD3H *ASUS rampage Black?
    16gb of Corsair Dominator RAM
    MSI GTX680 Lightning
    120Gb Kingston SSD
*soon to add another 240gb SSD
1*1 TB HDD's ( some brand mind fails me)
And old thermaltake PSU (This will be updated VERY soon...)

    Water cooling :
    (this is just for now)
    *Gpu block Aquacomputer.
    EK CPU block
    Alphacool xt45 3x140 rad
liang DDC pump with phobya top matte black finish
    Phobya 250ml res matte black
    Primochill rigid tube fittings
    White Primochill hard tube.

    Now then
    Want some pictures?
    Here ya go :

    ***Updates***
    CURRENT STATE :

Loop is done!! (and no im not leaving the GPU cables like that. Im waiting on sleeving.)
I'm also going to add another SSD and a new fan controller since i got some water on mine and didnt see it.... Silly me.

    Loop planing

    Some sketchup pics :

    Starting to build :

    Positioning rad grills :

    Stained some wood :

Some of the copper with the wood. This will be pollished : *replaced with acrylic tube.

The water block (ill be changing it eventually) :

Pump and the res along with some tubing :

(trying to take cool pics with my sheety cam)

    another failure :

kinda a over head view (just imagine polished copper with a different motherboard etc

This is what the copper will look like :

Yeah, my shop is a mess... too many project's going on at once... sigh... need more time!!
Thats all for now. Ill be updating more soon. And it will be assembeled and filled once i can afford fittings and some other things.

    Hello to the Build Logs,

About a year ago I had an Idea for an Orange and Black Build.  I started thinking about different shades of Orange, what parts to have color and what would remain black.
I had an old Antec DF-85 that was Empty and collecting dust, and so it began.  I few ideas and many hours later "Electric Orange" was Born.

Lets start at the Beginning.  There is Definitely some potential here with this case. At this stage I really don't know how much yet.

I don't do Sketch work or Create Renders for Mods.  Everything with this Project is off the Hip and very spontaneous..

Windows Paint is about as High tech as it gets for me.

Well, That looks good, lets rip it apart..

Now that its in Pieces,  I needed a Color.  Searches for Electric Orange Paint really didn't lead to the right shade for me.  So, I decided on a shade of Orange called Omaha.
This Shot of a 69 Mopar in Omaha Orange Inspired me.

A Quick trip to my friends at Napa and Presto..  Omaha Custom Mixed to Aerosol..

So I Started spraying panels and fans and You name it.  But in the End, I just wasn't happy with the Final Product.  Lots of Orange Peel..

There has to Be a Better Way to paint this.. At this point in the Project is it too late to start over?  Nope.

Quick Trip to the Acid Tanks at my Powdercoater and Wah-La.. All Better..  Oh,, Why not Build a Paint Booth in my Basement and get a Full Blown HVLP set up and teach myself how to paint Professionally while I'm at it..
    So I Did.

Now that I set myself up with Pro Hardware.  Lets Paint.

Much Smoother and controlled Surface Now.  Rattle cans are a thing of the Past for me.
Here is an Example of the Surface top Coat I can Produce now with my HVLP Gun.  Color is "Burma Black Pearl" and "Omaha Orange"  Front Panel Shot here.

Enough about the Painting..  Lets talk some Hardware.

Instead of listing all this Out.. Lets take a Picture Tour ..   More Fun than Reading..
