  1. Unfortunately I do. That would have been a nice easy fix.
  2. I would suggest if you have any monitoring software (MSI Afterburner, Hardware Info, Etc.) installed on your PC having a look at that. Looking for things like CPU and GPU usage or temps. If both the CPU and GPU are under little load, try changing to Prefer Maximum Performance in the Nvidia control panel (right click on desktop, nvidia control panel, manage 3d settings, power management mode, prefer maximum performance). You can also do this on an application by application basis if you would prefer. You may also want to check which GPU driver you have installed. I know you say that you have updated but just make sure its above version 436.30 as that is the game ready driver for Borderlands 3. Another thing to try would be making sure that you are either on balanced or high performance in the windows power settings.
  3. That cpu clock speed bouncing around is normal as windows does things in the background or even when you move your mouse on screen. What is the error code which comes up on the bluescreen?
  4. Yep. Ive tried each stick in each DIMM slot individually. After putting the old memory back in I get a warning screen saying "No memory detected on last boot". Ive also tried having each of the new sticks in at the same time as the old one and swapped around the slots and it refuses to boot once either of the new sticks are in the laptop in any combination.
  5. Unfortunately I bought it second hand from Facebook Marketplace so I assume the guy is going to ghost me if I message him about it. Just wanted to make sure I had explored every avenue before I did that.
  6. Hi guys, I recently bought a pair of used 8GB ram sticks for my laptop and I cannot get it to boot once installing it. Is working once I put the old memory back in. At this point I think there are two options, its the incorrect memory for my laptop or it doesn't work. Perhaps its the wrong voltage. I know the speed is rated at 2666Mhz for the new stuff and the laptop only supports 2400 but on the dell website linked below it states "NOTE: The 2666 MHz memory works at 2400 MHz for the 8 th generation Intel Core processors." which this laptop has. I will include everything I have been able to find so far below: Laptop Model: Dell Inspiron 7580 Link Original memory picture: Link New memory picture: Link New memory product page: Link (its not the exact memory but its all I could find on their website) Dell page about supported memory: Link Please let me know if there is anything else I should include to help and thank you all in advance.
  7. Did you end up upgrading? I am in the exact same position except that I had a 144hz monitor donated to me by a friend. Struggling to get near that in new games without really low settings
  8. I have the OS on my SSD and this drive has all programs installed on it (including 2.2TB worth of games)
  9. I cant find a free version of that (I dont have the money to buy it at the moment). Will Clonezilla do the job?
  10. They are both Seagate Barracuda 3TB drives. One from about 6 years ago and one from today. Do you think this would work?
  11. I have an HDD in my PC at the moment which, according to the S.M.A.R.T. readings, is on its way out. Using Chronos Drive Manager it was given 15% health because of too many reallocated sectors. I have bought a new drive today and am prepared to start cloning it to the new drive. Will I just be able to remove the old one and replace it with the new one or will there be issues with programs not recognizing the new drive? Do I have to do some registry editing to make it work? EDIT: I am trying to make sure that I wont have to reinstall things like my 2TB steam library. Thanks in advance
  12. Not really interested in SLI
  13. After recently upgrading my pc I still have about $800 left in the money which I had allocated for it. Current Build: http://imgur.com/gallery/7dAyUSW/ People have said in the past I should change to a mechanical keyboard which I will do in the future but I generally don't like doing so until my old parts are non-functional. I was thinking about maybe getting a 750D and EKWB 360 Predator so that I can add a GPU into the loop at a later date. Open to any suggestions. p.s. sorry if this is in the wrong forum EDIT: One last thing which I forgot to mention is that I have quite a small room so any ideas to reduce heat output could be useful. I am thinking of waiting for the generation of GPUs after pascal and getting a low-end card for slightly higher performance
  14. Ok, thanks guys. I don't often look at the high end products as I can't afford them. One can dream
