  1. I've been building and PC gaming since I was in about 8th grade. I've always been fascinated by the building and upgrading part of it and was into it for a while now and most of the time, I would play online with a few friends I actually knew. I'm very athletic and most of my friends who come over are shocked I'm into this stuff for whatever reason that is and almost all of them play console. During my high school years, I had maybe 4 or 5 friends TOPS that played PC games and 1 that built them. EVERYONE else played console and because of that, half my time playing is between the two when I really do enjoy my PC very, very much. I'm in college now, and I have a few friends that play PC games....but.....they play LoL on a laptop and thats about as far as it goes. Very disappointing..... I keep reading that PC gaming is the only reason that PC sales aren't completely dead. I disagree with that statement but that's what I'm readin unfortunately. Anyone hear actually have A LOT of friends who play and have been playing for a while?!!
  2. It wasn't so much a BSOD, but it was a blue screen with an unhappy face saying something was corrupted and then it reset itself. All surrounding the music app. I ended up resetting the whole surface and that fixed the issue.
  3. SOOOO glad to hear all of your guys thought! I see a very good use for having a tablet. As GoodBytes said, it's great for school and that's what it's for or when I'm on vacation which I'm on now, it's perfect. I just turn my hotspot on on my Lumia 928 and I can use it wherever and whenever I want and the bigger screen is much nicer than to have to look at my phone. I completely agree though that I can do everything I can on my WP8 and frankly, there's more AND better apps on WP8 than on my Surface which is kinda weird IMO. There still isn't an ACTUAL facebook app which is very annoying and all the other remakes are terrible. (I've tried about six different ones). That and the music player are the only issues I have right now. Does anyone have one running on 8.1 that has issues with the music player? I just recently got a BSOD because of the damn music player and now none of my own music won't even play. I think it has to do with the app and signing in but it's such a big hindrance since I'd rather listen to music on here and waste THIS battery than my phones.
  4. I put a screenshot of my (C:) drive below. I moved all my pictures, music, and videos over to my 64gb SD card so what you're seeing is just 8.1 plus whatever extra apps I have installed as well. There is lag in the music player and video played and I'm not going to lie, it's quite annoying. My music takes a while before it gets loaded in the music player and the music player in general is really laggy and shows the wrong artist pictures and stuff sometimes but I'm sure it's because this is a preview. The video player is a little slow to start but there not any lag when watching videos. Same goes for the music, it's more having to do with the app which I hope they will fix in the actual release.
  5. The tegra 3 is definitely enough for all of it. I have word and outlook working simultaneously in snap almost daily and it works just fine. While that's going on, I have a bunch of apps running as well. I do have a habit though of closing apps so I might not be the best to describe having a BUNCH of apps running. The most I'm remembering was 7 apps running and it didn't lag at all. About the delay in Word, I'm not seeing a delay in typing a document but more in going through the taskbar at the top. There is a noticeable delay just switching from "Home" to "Insert". Now that you mention it, I also noticed a delay when typing the start of a document. I opened a new blank document and started typing and there was a delay. I started over again and the same thing happened. Only in the beginning there is a delay on my end. Neither of these small issues hamper my usage at all though. I never even noticed the delay until you mentioned so thanx for that. Was the review you read with 8.1 or 8.0? One other issue I am noticing it if you have the surface WITH the touch cover in your lap, the keyboard doesn't recognize some key presses. For example, I type a few words and then it just cuts off and I have to retype the last word or two and this only happens when the touch keyboard isn't on a flat surface (no pun intended). That's an issue I'm used to. I just take the keyboard off, fold my case flap back, put the keyboard between there and use it as a tablet. :P As I mentioned, I picked my 64gb RT for $450 which is a steal vs the $600 Ipad. I actually own a 64gb Ipad I got for free from my points on my AMEX card and I can tell you or anyone that I use my surface much more and I enjoy using it much more than my ipad. While I disagree that windows doesn't have the apps, I do agree that it doesn't have the atmosphere that the ipad has created with its apps. That is the only thing I miss from my Ipad.
  6. I want to start by saying that all the reviews I've read and seen from sites such as cnet, the verge, engadget, all come from people who haven't used it or are just saying what the stereotype for the NEW OS is. I was an apple fanboy before I made the switch and I am so glad that I did. Everyone says the RT is a waste and that it can't run desktop apps....THATS BECAUSE it is a TABLET. Not a laptop. I'm so annoyed that people say *%$# like that because that wasn't the intended purpose yet people assume so and then start bashing. My guess is that once Microsoft makes an Office 2013 APP then they will get rid of the desktop completely on the RT. Another topic is the apps. I HAVE YET TO NOT FIND AN APP THAT I LOOKED FOR. There's facebook, twitter, youtube, ebay, amazon, yelp, etc. Maybe the apps aren't official from the owner but they ARE there and they work just fine. Just because there isn't 500,000 apps doesn't mean you can't find what you need. And last is the HUGE deal made about the start button. I think this is partly due to Microsoft not educating people when they released the new OS. The Metro IS the start screen just better and shows more apps yet people hate it because it's new and some key commands would have to be learned....people honestly need to stop being stubborn. I picked my 64gb Surface RT up for $450 and got the white touch cover for $75 new off of amazon. The new price drop is very enticing and that's why I went and picked it up. That's my opinion and please comment so I can hear what you guys have to say. Here's the review. Surface RT: Hardware: It's tough, pretty slim, and has ports that many tablets don't have. There are four speakers. One on each side and two on top. On the left there's a volume rocker with the headphone jack and the right has the video port, usb2.0 port, and the charging port. There's two cameras, one on the front and on the back. And finally there's the kickstand which is absolutely amazing. It's a little bit stiff to open but its great and adds more use to the surface. And everyone who's seen it always says how nice it is to have it. Seriously. The touch cover which is sold separately is a great addon which I have in white. While it's very nice and helpful to the surface it's NOT needed to use the surface. Almost all reviews say that it's NEEDED for windows RT and that if you don't get one it is pointless and that's wrong. The onscreen keyboard is great and has many different keyboard options to suit however is easier for you to type. Windows 8.1 Software: If you have any windows 8 device, updating to 8.1 will get rid of almost any issues you may have had on the previous update. Let me start by saying it is a PREVIEW not a final release. The bad is: the search everywhere is buggy and works every other time. If it didn't connect, just search the same thing again and it will work. Some apps still take longer than they're supposed to to open as well. The good is: Everything else. The OS is much more fluid, they added some very helpful and fun apps such as travel and fitness and basic apps that other competitors already had which is nice to even the playing field. The app store and music app were also revamped which is MUCH better than the last. Being able to chose your own start screen wallpaper is a nice feature that was missed and is greatly appreciated. The settings were also changed to show and give much more info which helps a lot. They also added a start button to the desktop which is pointless IMO but apparently people just need to SEE it there to feel better about themselves. Whatever to that. Even with the search everywhere bugs, it's still a nice change. The snapping is also much better than before. That's my opinion and review and I'm sorry if it wasn't very in depth but you can get the details in other reviews so I wouldn't have to repeat it. Also, I know it's not very well layed out but it should still be easy to read. Please, please, please comment your thoughts and such.
  7. thanx a bunch guys, I don't know if I would bring people into my home lol but I should probably find a more suitable place to meet. Now I'm out $300 and a new iphone 5......
  8. So I went to sell my brand new iphone 5 for $500 today off of craigslist. I had the screen cracked so I took it to apple and paid $230 to get a brand new replacement to sell for more money. I've done tons of sales on craigslist without any problems in big or small amounts of money so I wasn't assuming I would have a problem with this. I met the guy inside my local mall at Sears and he seemed like a normal guy. I saw him pull in and he even had the same nice car as me so I didn't suspect anything. He comes in, we shake hands, I show him the phone, then he starts counting the money. He was completely retarded with counting money or he was playing like he was dumb. Either way he got me. The minute he gave me the money, he bolted out the door before I could even look at the twenties but I didn't suspect a thing so I just went along and checked the money after he had left. Out of the $480 that we agreed upon, $180 ended up being real and $300 of it was fake.....soooooo pissed at this point. BUT, I kept my cool because my girlfriend got his plate number. We called 911 and went to the police station and got in touch with a dispatcher. The guy, Officer Crawford was hands down, THE BIGGEST dikk I've ever met. He came in and was so sarcastic about everything I said and when my girlfriend and I asked questions, he played stupid and gave us these scenarios like we were 5 years old. Not to mention he kept us waiting for over 2 hours total. We were already exhausted and the waiting just kept us annoyed the entire time. Finally, he came back out and told us the report was filed and that I could get the $180 back but taking the rest of the $300. That was the only SOMEWHAT good part of that night. He then told me I should come back the next day to do a picture line-up as a MAYBE. That was also a little satisfying that he may be doing some sort of work but that's about it. This guy was really a piece of work and answered pretty much nothing we asked while at the same time treating us like children. Hopefully this can get figured out but I doubt it given the circumstances. I have the guys phone number and license plate like I said and I got an address so that's a start but I'm not gona do any of this myself because that's a little crazy. So in the end, I'm not out completely, but I got back $50 less than what I paid to get a new phone PLUS I don't have a phone...but I made the decision to switch to windows phone and windows 8 for PC's and ditch my macs so I guess this isn't SOO bad haha. :) Sorry if I'm ranting too much but maybe someone has some suggestions as to what I could do to speed this up? OR get this guy put in jail within a reasonable time period?
  9. What exactly about a mac is not efficient? It can do everything I could ask for with ease and whenever I need it to. If you put an SSD in any system, it instantly becomes more efficient so I'm kind of confused with your argument when there isn't one other than a large price tag. I AM TALKING FOR HACKINTOSHES AS WELL. Not just apple made products but custom made products as well. What does linux do that mac does not? I wana hear this because the only thing a mac doesn't have is the customizability MAYBE vs windows or linux. My hackintosh double boots into windows and both work absolutely fine for my recording studio and photo editing rig. Gaming as well since I don't game much other than WoW and Minecraft which both handle perfectly. Gimme a rundown. I don't see anything a mac can't do that a windows or linux can.....unless you want to enlighten me. Everybody hates on apple cuz of the price tag. I'm not trying to advertise apple or macs but I hate when people try to talk an OS down just because of a pricetag or the stereotypes it brings with it.
  10. Just put a hackintosh and triple boot it with windows and linux. Thats what I have going and its perfect. I hate how people just assume Macs are bad because of they're price tag. I agree completely they overprice the shizzzz out of it for crap components but when you can build a hackintosh like the one in my sig and still have windows AND ubuntu, i think that's pretty worth while. And macs are not inefficient, at all. I have 6 full screen windows open and all you have to do is literally swipe to get to the next one. Easiest thing in the world to switch between apps. Not to mention the OS looks great to begin with. DON'T hate macs just because of the price tag when you can build one yourself that performs better too. My hack pro mini would kill any mac pro you can buy ( at least until they release the new mac pro). I didn't even pay for the software for it. Just find a friend who has an actual mac, put the OS on a usb stick and your good to go.
  11. I have a 600t already so getting a 650d would be getting the same internals in a different case. -____- I'm gona go with the 200R because I have some sweet modding ideas I wana put to work. I like the 540 but I'm not a fan of the box look. Thanx guys.

    AMD FX- 9000

I'd love to hop back over to AMD if they actually have a "good" performing chip this time. AMD was the first cpu I ever used 6 years ago and hoping back would be awesome!!
  13. If a 240 rad is not possible, I guess no scout 2 :( I was planning on a H100i. LOLzzzzz XD Why was it a pain? I'm really leaning towards this case but I won't if there's issues. Is it possible to put a 240 rad? Such as a H100i in the top?
  14. I'm stuck between the CM Storm Scout 2, CM HAF-XM, Corsair 600t, or the Corsair 200R. I was really digging the 200R because of the internal layout and because I had some sweet modding ideas for it. But I do like the other 3 I mentioned.... A LOT. I've heard all good about the scout 2 but that there's only one fan provided. I haven't heard much of the HAF-XM but I liked it when I saw it at my local TigerDirect. And I already own a 600t but I'm kinda bored with it after putting 3 different builds in it. I really want to put something color AND branding coordinated. Someone wana sway me one way or another?
  15. The guy at the place screwed up by letting the acrylic sheet I had shake a little bit which didn't get me the clean cut I had hoped for. I also ended up getting the cut for free and saving $60 so I guess I can live with the imperfection since I got it for free. :)
