Yep, that's the answer that I was expecting lol. The 3600x for the MSRP of the 3600. Stressing out if I should burn my money now or wait until Black Friday.

You'e clearly saving $35 from the previous Amazon price. Are you confusing the 3600x with the regular 3600?

Buyingbf_ reacted to Spotty in Question about buying a new (not used) but old power supply
Just because a power supply was first released to market several years ago does not mean that the power supply you buy has been sitting on the shelf for all those years, though this can also be the case. The unit you buy might still be in production and have only been manufactured a few months ago.
Check the first few digits of the serial number of the power supply and it might give you a clue of what year it was made.

Buyingbf_ reacted to zassou in Chinese members: Need help translating pinyin to hanzi
it appears mandarin, yes. but the problems is that there are countless of homonyms in chinese, multiple characters with the same pronounciation, plus in mandarin there are four tones, so only knowing the pinyin isnt enough. there is not such thing of commonly used name table in chinese, in theory you can name your kid whatever chinese characters you like, even those from ancient dictionaries that do not exist in unicode yet.

also the family name is unclear, the standard way to spell chinese name in the mainland (according to textbooks, anyway) is family name first but its not uncommon for ppl who work overseas to put their family last when romanising their name to avoid confusion, like japanese do. in your case, Jia could be the family name, often written as 賈, while Li, written as 李 is one of the most commonly found family names. (could be others but those are the 2 characters that comes to my mind)

different ppl from different places romanise their names differently, for example, ppl from mainland put family name first, given name last, and no spaces between characters. for example, 白居易 written as Bai Juyi, 李白 as Li Bai. if your friend comes from the mainland, his or her name should written as Jia Yingli or Li Jiaying.

Buyingbf_ reacted to JoostinOnline in Titles are getting worse (proposal)
Before I start, this isn't another "clickbait" complaint thread.  I want to address the more recent trend towards minimally descriptive video titles.  These are the ones I'm talking about:
I understand that you want interesting titles, but this making it increasingly difficult to tell your videos apart.  When all your titles are a super vague question or statement, there's no way to find the correct video without trial and error.  Half the time I don't even know what the title was referring to after I finish the video.

Right now it's not that big of a deal because there aren't that many of them, but it's like having a bunch of "Untitled Folder (#)" folders on your desktop.  The more you make, the harder it will be to tell them apart.  I have a proposal/request that I hope you'll consider:  After a short period of time (a week maybe) make an addendum to the title so it says what the video is actually about.  That way, a month from now, I can look up "linus tech tips nvidia freesync support" (or something) and actually find the correct video.

Edit: Turns out they've already considered and discarded this idea.
Thanks to @ZacoAttaco for pointing out a recent post by Linus.  I wasn't aware of this.  I'm pretty close to my breaking point though.  I understand wanting to make more money, but it's just adding frustration to my life at this point.

Thanks,  the cpu cooler installation was the part I was most nervous about (because people kept saying how uncomfortable it was to install) but it ended up being easier than installing the ram LOL, the ram just wouldn't get in there, had to push really hard, was afraid of breaking mobo...

Most Corsair power supplies have a Zero RPM mode when the power load is low enough. Your HX650 has that function. It could be that it just automatically shuts off since its a low load, seeing you have a regular 2600 and only a 1050.
The B350 motherboard might be problem, since as you addressed before it requires a BIOS update before you can slot in a 2000 series chip. The seller probably ripped the "Ryzen 2000 ready" off the product page since most 300 series motherboards can support them, but the big asterisk is that you need to update the BIOS first with a previous gen 1000 series chip.
I'm running off an Intel qualified RAM kit. I'm only at 2666Mhz compared to the advertised 3000Mhz. For your first steps you should try swapping slots or only one stick.

Yeah, your RAM kits should work fine. I myself had two 2x4GB of DDR3 back in the day, and I found out much later they were slightly different models with different timings and such lol. Worked perfectly fine, however.

The Zero RPM function is a good thing. The power supply does not need to pull a lot of power, meaning less work and less heat. The fan would not be needed in these low-effort situations since the power supply can handle it without overheating. By turning off the fan, it preserves the bearing on your fan and helps it last longer since it's only spinning in necessary situations. However, once you go over a certain power load, maybe during a game when your CPU and GPU are pulling hard at high frequencies and high power draw, your power supply needs the fan to cool itself down.

Oh its charging... 3 Bright-AF blue lights..blinking. Awesome.
While playing,... 3 blue lights off and on...repeat,.., seems silly, why can't I just tap the power button quick keypress style once and it can then show me if on or not with the lights...

Look for open/semi-open headphones. The drivers are open to allow for ambient sound to come in. This is so you can have a much bigger soundstage, but also for hearing your mum calling you from downstairs as well.

Clearing the cmos just resets the motherboard to factory default settings. There is essentially no risk in doing this.

Buyingbf_ got a reaction from WalterK in Installing a SSD into a build that has a mechanical hard drive with Windows already on it.
    1) Doing a clean install of Windows and formatting hard drive to empty it: Fast and easy, but, y'know, you lose your hard drive data.
    2) Deleting unnecessary stuff off your hard drive and cloning it to your new SSD: Takes long, but you will have exactly the same experience as you had on your hard drive, just with SSD performance.
    3) Doing clean install of Windows on SSD and keeping HDD intact: Fast and easy and you keep hard drive data.
I personally did option 3 since your situation is exactly the same as the one I had years ago. However, I had to reinstall my main apps, tell Steam where my old games were on my hard drive, and my new Windows didn't have entries of my old installed programs. For example: if I searched up GIMP on my old install, that's the first result. If I search GIMP on my new Windows install, I get nothing. Maybe at most the folder on my other drive. But my Windows doesn't know that GIMP's been installed so I don't have shortcuts and stuff. Had to manually make my own shortcuts or move the install folder to my main drive.

An SSD is literally one of the best decisions you can make when upgrading a computer. Extremely noticeable increase in performance. If you have space, install all your main programs and such on it. Your drivers also have to be installed on your boot drive. If your Steam games are too big, just install them on your old 1TB. Also, I've had Chrome running on my SSD ever since I first got it, feels fine. No problems yet.

On the product page for the H400, NZXT says you can mount your 280 rad in the front. I personally mount my fans in a pull config so that dust can be cleaned easier.

Buyingbf_ got a reaction from erikr_c in HELP!!!. I want to move windows 10 to a SSD and keep my games on my HDD but I don't know how to do this
You can try reinstalling Windows 10 on your SSD. I lived like that for a while, with a old copy of Windows 8.1 on my old hard drive while my newer SSD had upgraded to Windows 10. You're stuck with about ~20GB of unusable space since it's your old OS, but that's not that much on your hard drive. Don't know where to go from there, since I had just decided to clean my PC and completely my wiped my hard drive, removing my old OS install.

Buyingbf_ got a reaction from Speed Weed in Is it okay to run 2 software temp monitoring software at the same time?
I don't see why there would be a conflict since they're just reading sensors. There's no kind of priority system, they can read the sensors whenever they want. I've had SpeedFan, HWMonitor, AMD Overdrive, MSI Afterburner, etc all running at the same time and there's no problems whatsoever.
