Kleever got a reaction from Jessop in Cherry MX Blue for gaming?
100% agree. I don't know why companies still use stock Cherry stabilizers in their keyboards, they're much more prone to feeling flimsy and rattling. At the very least they should come with clipped Cherry stabilizers.

ASUS uses Costar stabilizers on their Claymore keyboard which feel great, although annoying to remove but the improved feel/noise is worth it. It's a shame I could never get a Claymore with MX Blues in the USA.

As for the topic, I use MX Blues for gaming all the time and I prefer them to Reds and Browns. Browns would be my second choice though, not really a fan of linear switches.

While I haven't dealt with ROCCAT, I can tell you from experience not everyone provides return labels, even if a device is faulty. Here's my experience with a few companies:

Razer - They paid for shipping both ways for my DA: Chroma replacement.
Corsair: I had to pay shipping to get a replacement PSU.
Logitech: They paid shipping both ways for the G303.
HyperX: I had to pay shipping to get a replacement for my Cloud II when the audio on one side stopped working.

Some retailers even charge restocking fees under certain circumstances, so I'd just eat the shipping cost and be done with it if I were you.

The performance difference between first and second gen Core i processors is significant, your opinion of the i7 920 doesn't really do much for this conversation.

OP, if it were a new system entirely, I'd say yea, that's a really good deal, but considering it's an upgrade from the FX 6300, it'd hard to say to say if that money spent is worth it. It will be an upgrade for sure, but I don't think it will be as significant as it would be to something like Kaby Lake.

If I were in your shoes, I would buy it, but I'm not a reasonable person.

Kleever reacted to Falkentyne in Looking for a Cherry MX Blue Keyboard...
I didn't get any RGB blues when they first came out.  I didn't get any until the Shine 6 and YOTM (I have one of each).  Both are fine, and from what I read about people complaining about RGB blues from the last two years, definitely seem better.  They're not as good as the very consistent MX Greens on my Ducky shine fire 69, but they're very nice and I recommend them.  The blues on the iKBC F108 are noticably worse than the shine 6 and YOTM, the clicks aren't as crisp, the click feels harsher and longer on many keys, some keys feel scratchy and the bottom out sound is much louder.  So I assume the iKBC is using blue samples that people often complain about.  They did improve with use, but still nowhere near as good as on the Shine 6 and YOTM.

The MX Blues on my shine 6 are amazingly consistent.  The backspace key has a much louder click, not sure if that's on purpose or not, but all the other keys on the alphanums are excellent.

Somehow my YOTM is a bit less consistent than the Shine 6, but still close, and miles better than the iKBC F108, though a few keys feel a bit harder to press.  I'm actually getting the F key replaced by mechanicalkeyboards.com on my YOTM (long story).  But other than that, the keys are probably miles better than you experienced with your Lux.

Yes Corsair was getting bad batches of RGB blues and couldn't get enough good ones for a lot of boards.  Ducky had problems getting good blues for a long time also on their shine 5, which is why they were almost always sold out for ages.

Seems like they're finally getting some decent blues now.  I'm typing this right now on my shine 6, and the blues feel wonderful.  Nice, crisp and bouncy.  Even with the exact same keycaps being used, the iKBC F108 simply doesn't feel as clean and bouncy.

I also got 120 Gateron SMD compatible Greens to hot swap into my teamwolf vod ray hotswappable RGB keyboard.  Pulling out the Outemu blues is a pain.  The gaterons come out (after you put them in) MUCH easier than the Outemus, and the gateron greens feel every bit as good as the Cherry MX greens on the Shine fire 69.  Maybe even slightly smoother, but the Shine 69 had very good MX greens to begin with.

I do recommend you try a Shine 6.  Just make sure you grab the 126 key Vortex PBT doubleshot set along with it if you order from mk.com.  The white sets should look better than the black set, as more light gets through the legends.  The new vortex sets are much better than the old PBT+Pom white sets.  You'll be glad you did (Yes I know the window title says 104 key but the description says 126 key; they need to update their title when they changed the keysets to the newer Vortex version).

Kleever reacted to Falkentyne in MX Reds VS MX Browns - Gaming
There are good browns and bad browns.  The Ducky shine 3 had abysmal browns.  The Year of the Goat has much better browns.  The early editions of the Logitech G710+ had heavenly browns (but the OEM for the keycaps sucked, were too thin and the stems could break, with O rings making them break even more easily).  The Year of the Goat's MX browns not only feel very nice, but are also NATURALLY silenced from the RGB keycap housing, so when you bottom out, you barely hear anything except a very soft thunk--it literally feels like a Corsair MX red silent switch.  Some people have complained about really bad, scratchy browns where you can't feel the bump but rather feel sand.  The shine 3 I had was like that on some keys.  The G710+ and my YOTG were nice enough to not only give me a guide, but still have me tell when I went past the bump when typing fast.

I have no idea if the Shine 6's RGB MX browns are as good and silent like the YOTG's, but the RGB blues on my shine 6 are very crisp and MUCH quieter bottoming out than the iKBC F108 RGB blues, so I would assume you'd be good to go there too.

Reds I can't stand.  Tried them on a Corsair K70 gunmetal.  Sure they're fast, but I would either press keys I didn't intend to press, or sprint accidentally by depressing shift just by putting pressure on it.  That was a huge problem when I was playing Black Ops 2 back in the day.  I never had that problem with Browns because I had a bump to tell me where to stop pressing.  If I wanted to use Linears, I would prefer a heavier switch than reds to avoid accidental keypresses.  The only problem with the Nature Whites (which I did like for a linear) was that some of the keys had actuation at different elevation points than other keys, which could cause me to MISS keys.  The A key required a deeper press (by about 1mm) than S, which was an issue if I were being lazy, since your pinky presses A (if you touch type).  I would have liked the Nature Whites more if the switches were fully consistent in actuation distance.

I'm sure the OSU players need reds or MX speed switches.  But I have to choose browns for for fast gaming and typing.  RGB blues on my shine 6 and MX greens on my ducky fire 69 are my favorite switches.

Going GPu first is best way currently yes. Saving up for next year once Kaby/Zen has launched can give you nice options or even good 2ndhand skylake deals. Difference between Sky/Kaby does not seem to be that huge currently.

Anyway investing in a good new platform then can last you several years again.

Kleever got a reaction from qSmith in Plz Halp K70 Giving Me Headache..
The LUX is basically the updated version of the K70 RGB. The LUX adds a USB passthrough, the lighting controller found on the Corsair Strafe which fixed the 16.8M color issue and with a new font on the keycaps. Browns is usually a safe switch to start with as it has some tactile feedback without the noise of the Blues.

The Fury X performs worse in 99% of titles.
If the <1% that actually use vulcan, then it's on par or a bit better than a 1070.

    I would rather have
    -lower temps
    -less power consumption
    -less noise
    -shadowplay
    -8GB vram
and better performance in almost every game except for a few.

Kleever reacted to Adalhelm in Fury X vs. GTX 1070
Personally I think the 1070 is a better buy because with the Fury X only having 4GB of Vram it is going to be an issue. Yes I know it is HBM but the capacity is just too low for modern and future titles. The 1070 will serve you well and still does well in Vulcan. I use the 1070 on my computer and it crushes everything I throw at it.

IMO - Overclockers Dream.. Fury/X was a joke of a card. (Powerful yes, but not enough)

There is nothing like free meal. If the RX 490 performs on par with the GTX 1070, they will price it accordingly. If they price it below, expect Nvidia to follow suit and drop the price of 1070.

It's always worth waiting. in terms of price/performance. But you can't wait forever. Please don't ask these questions as they are impossible to answer.

Interesting you linked that page, it seems every comment was extremely positive regarding the switches from Greetech. A lot of comments said they're smoother than Cherry. There was a lot of praise for the brown and blue switches. In fact I see people saying the Greetech switches felt better than Cherry overall and would finally be switching to Greetech.

I do agree with you on your point the only negative aspect is their long term durability. Cherry have proven their switches are built to last but only time will tell if the Chinese alternatives can also last as long. I do still think, any manufacturer should be given a chance regardless if it's made in China or Germany.

The main downsides of this mouse are its weight - 120g without the weights and the badly placed sniper button that can lead to accidental presses. These are pretty much deal breakers for most people.
