  1. Hello! I've recently been quite interested in setting up my own file server at home, and had a few questions regarding it. Basically, I'm re purposing an old HP z230 workstation and I wanted to know if the specs would be sufficient/suitable to run whatever I have in mind, also I'm not sure how the server will fare when I'm running it 24/7 since its using consumer grade hardware like the i5-4690. I also want to be able to transfer files to and from my server and I'm unsure about the simplest way to achieve this. I will also probably be running this as a plex server. Here are the specs: CPU: i5-4690 ($0) Motherboard: Asus Z97-K ($81 USD) Ram: 16GB DDR3 ($0) SSD: 250GB Samsung 860EVO ($57 USD) HDD: Seagate Ironwolf NAS 6TB ($190 USD) PSU: Seasonic GX550W Modular ($95 USD) Thanks in advance
  2. ok apparently my logs have been turned off, ill turn it on and see what shows up the next time im having the problem! Thanks for your help guys
  3. Ok ive logged in, im trying to find the router event log right now
  4. Hmm ok, is my router IP the same as the IP i get on my computer?
  5. HMM NoPE. You could link me an article and I'll read it up and try it myself!
  6. hm okay then, is there any way for me to view the router event log? Do i have to use some type of software or can i view it directly? (Sorry if i seem to be asking dumb questions but im really new to this realm lolol)
  7. yup. theres a green light and a blinking orange light. is there any chance this may be an isp problem?
  8. My house is wired up and i just connect directly into the wall. Ive checked the router/switch and it looks fine too
  9. Hellooo I've been getting this problem where my ethernet connection is being unreliable and just cuts out and it just says that the network cable is unplugged. Now this has been happening for a few days and is house wide. Multiple computers on ethernet are experiencing this problem. All of them also show that the network cable is unplugged even though it is clearly plugged in.The lights on the motherboard's ethernet connector dont light up. It's not a cable issue as I've bought new cables to try on them to avail. However, my wifi seems to be completely unaffected by this which i thought was weird. I'm a noob when it comes to this topic so I was hoping someone can enlighten me on what is actually going on and how I can resolve this issue? Thank you! have a nice day ?
  10. So I'm pretty new to the photography and videography scene but I've grown to really like it over the past year and I'd like to get my own camera mainly for videography - i dont take photos often. I've been checking out the Canon M50 and the Sony A6400 and i was wondering if anyone out there has anything to add that might help me make a decision because i'm pretty torn apart as to which camera i should get. below are some of my concerns ? ANyways, - I was really leaning away from the M50 because of the tight crop when filming 4K videos (then again im not sure if this is a problem across all cameras or just the m50 in particular) and the loss of dual pixel AF. - i really liked the A6400 just because i think the image quality looks better - im not sure how beneficial recording in 4k will be anyways so will spending more for the A6400's better 4k video be even worth it? - A6400 has better internal audio ( which is important to me because i wont be buying an external mic yet) - should i get second hand cameras? are second hand cameras as reliable? - m50 is cheaper though.. welp those are pretty much my concerns for both cameras sorry if ive said anything wrong or if i sound like a complete noob lol, but do let me know if there are any other cameras within a similar price range i should look at! and thanks for helping me navigate through the world of cameras ?
