  1. Thank you for your reply, I think I'll reconsider trying this after all. This was really informative and I appreciate it!
  2. Hey, so recently a put together a home file server using FreeNAS. The 7 Gamers One CPU and 8 Gamers 1 CPU videos really intrigued me. I am unfamiliar with unRAID and would like some help with a few ideas I have floating around, and if they are possible. 1. Do different VMs require different graphics sources? Could I run 2 off integrated graphics or would both have to come from dedicated GPUs? 2. Would it be possible to use it to run 2 VMs, one as FreeNAS (I am aware it can be risky running FreeNAS as a VM), and the other OS to be a Linux distro such as Mint? As the file server has a fairly powerful CPU, i5 4460, and would like to be able to make use of that. 3. Would adding Plex to a FreeNAS VM cause any issues? 4. A weird one here maybe, can you dual boot a VM? To choose if it's a Linux distro or OSX. 5. Would there be any issues having my main PC be a synergy host and one VM be the client? I completely understand if this is not possible or could have some serious issues, I have done a little digging on this but am still a real noob with all this. Thank you in advance for any help! I'll be heading to bed shortly and work in the morning so am sorry if I don't reply for a while, but will do my best! Thanks guys
  3. Thank you. I don't think it is the 24pin, I have tried only with 20 pins now and the other 4 pins only go in one way around. Also it's not the CPU being the wrong way around. Not GPU related either. I still need to try the camera part and will soon, I tried the rest though!
  4. It does not post, no. The fans get power for maybe less than a second it seems. Also I made some progress just there, it turned on! However I never tested if it posted (stupidly) and turned it off, won't turn on again. Just doing the same thing, back to starting momentarily and turning off.
  5. PC Specs Case: Antec ISK600 Motherboard: MSI H97I AC CPU: Intel Pentium G3258 Cooler: Cooler Master Seidon 120v V2 Memory: HyperX Fury 2x4GB Storage: Kingston 120GB SSD & WD Red 2TB PSU: Corsair CX450M http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/43NbsY I have a weird problem here and have tried a lot of different things to work this out so any help is hugely appreciated! Although for all I know I've screwed up somewhere stupid and just can't tell. So this is intended to be a, small, home file server with some maybe slightly overkill parts, the Seidon mostly. However after putting it together it booted up for a split second then turned off. I tried a load of things to fix it and am still baffled, so here's what I've tried: 1: I moved the G3258 into my main PC and booted fine. (The Mobo is an Asus Maximus Hero VII). 2. Put an Intel 4790K into the H97I AC and same problem. 3. The ISK600 has a connector that runs through the case to connect to the PSU which is at the front, so I plugged the power cable directly into the PSU instead of the connector. 4. I replaced the PSU with a Corsair CX500 I had lying around, I could try with a RM750i? 5. Changed the cooler to the Intel stock one. 6. I got a replacement motherboard with no luck, so ordered a new one (Gigabyte H81N-D2H) and same issue occurred. 7. Tried with and without RAM. Also tried using 1 stick only. 8. Done everything with and without the storage drives connected. Also all the testing is done with only the power connector and a DVI cable, no peripherals. Also tried with and without all the headers connected. 9. Added rubber washers between the motherboard and the risers in the case, thought it could have shorted. 10. Tried plugging the reset switch into the power switch on all motherboards, in case of faulty power wiring. Also used a screwdriver to bridge the gap between the power pins. 11. I changed the power cable with the one on my main PC. 12. Plugged the 24 pin from the CX450M into my main PC and it booted fine. 13. I should mention that every time I've tried the system turned on momentarily, literally 1/2 a second or so. As the PSU fan and CPU cooler fan start turning then stop. There might be a couple of other things I tried, I was convinced it was a motherboard problem but after trying three motherboard (two different types also) I think it'd be a little weird that all are DOA. I am really confused and would really appreciate any help at all! I can also provide any pictures of videos, if that would help. Thank you in advance for any advice!
