I'm afraid I don't have that much experience with Blues - my guess is that they'd slot somewhere in between the Green and Black drives for performance and sound, but I'm sure someone else here has a better idea.

It really depends on the performance of both machines, network at both ends and how demanding the work you're doing really is. Working to a machine on a separate network with most remote desktop clients will leave you with a considerable amount of latency and some image quality degradation (the degree to which will depend on network throughput) - the real decision is whether this creates a better experience than using your laptop or not. I'd give it a try, if nothing else. Carrying a desktop around with you is never a great solution - I wouldn't recommend it myself - but if you reckon it isn't too much hassle for you then give it a try.

It's not exactly small form factor - as an ATX case, it's still going to be large. That being said, it's at the smaller end for cases of this class, so it depends on you perspective, really.

Everyone at LMG will be fine.

Could just be the smell of the heatsinks - my machine smells of metal and slightly charred plastic. Then again, most people's rigs aren't running at anywhere near the temperature of this laptop.

Transistor and Bastion definitely deserve a shoutout - gotta love Supergiant Games:

Aside from that, the music from most of the games from the Metroid series is pretty damn awesome. Here's just one example:

Other noteable soundtracks include Mirror's Edge, Super Hexagon, Super Meat Boy, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

Okay, here's my shot at this one:

A 3440x1440 monitor would be awesome to have, and hey, if I have a shot at getting myself a machine that doesn't take an hour for the FINAL export of a 30s video (total compute time including motion graphics and proxies came close to ten hours for this mini-project) then I guess that's worth it. This might not be the most 'creative' of all of the entries so far - I've just watched a few of them and it amazes me what some people can come up with - but it sticks closer to the style of most of the videos I've been producing over the last year, so it has that personal touch for me at least. Anyway, even if I fail to make it to the first round, this video was fun to produce and taught me a couple of new techniques.
I'm always open to any feedback on my content, so feel free to let me know what you think.

Coollok100 got a reaction from Trik'Stari in A cheap caselabs like case for air cooling?
There aren't that many cases with the 'Caselabs look' out there that would fit into your budget, beyond what you've mentioned already. You might want to wait until some of the Thermaltake cases that were announced at Computex get released considering their more than slight resemblance to Caselabs' offerings... Anyway, the closest I can recommend is the Lian Li PC-A04B or the PC-9FB. A lot of Lian Li's higher end cases look very similar to Caselab's, but considering that they are well built, large aluminium towers you can expect Caselabs-esque pricing.

Coollok100 got a reaction from Guest in I think I understand a psu's 80 plus medal ratings, questions
While higher rated power supplies will typically have higher quality components, they are not necessarily more heat tolerant. The difference is that higher rated ones will be more efficient, meaning less of the electrical energy moving through the PSU will be wasted as heat, reducing total heat output and the need for a fan to spin up as much.

Following up on what other people have been saying here, the 4690K is probably the best option if you only plan on gaming. For certain applications you might want a bit more CPU power, but from my experience on with it, it's a really solid CPU for most tasks.

You might want to take a look at this: http://www.vlc2vcam.com. It's a VLC plugin that should let you do what it seems you want to, although I can't say I've had any experience with it myself.

Probably my laptop (my primary PC 5 days a week). With an i5 2410m and Nvidia GT540m it was okay at first, but due to the degradation present on Sandy Bridge CPUs, it now runs internally at ~100C while idling, and thermally throttles itself below 800MHz. I wish I could afford to replace it .

Looks okay (provided it doesn't snap...), my main issue will be backwards compatibility. In order to get the full advantage of the new connector's slim profile for making new laptops and tablets thinner, they'll need to have no type A connectors. So I'm guessing eventually I'll need a bucketful of Type C to A adapters if I want to keep on using my current devices (this issue is probably about 5 years off from reality, so we'll see)
