  1. Yup, it's a QS and I'm returning it now. Turns out that returning the motherboard (which I'm pretty sure is dead too) is going to be a little complicated, but we'll see.
  2. Update: after power cycling a few times it now appears to power on normally - I'm just not getting any video out
  3. Managed to get my hands on a MSI X99S SLI Plus, and got everything set up. First time I tried with every RAM stick I got a red LED by the 24 pin and no fans spinning up. I then tried a couple of different configurations with one stick in one slot and everything appears to power up for a fraction of a second before stopping again before POST. Any idea what's happening?
  4. Filling out the form to Asus right now. Kinda unfortunate timing as I'm out of the country for the next couple of weeks, but these things happen.
  5. It's not ECC, but as far as I know that shouldn't matter in this case - non ECC memory is still supported (feel free to correct me though). This motherboard was bought second hand from someone who hadn't tested it as apparently their CPU was unsupported and the CPU is a QS variant, so it's hard to tell exactly which part would be the problem.
  6. http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/8jWcYr - here's a quick and dirty list.
  7. I've never booted the system with this motherboard, CPU, or RAM before, but everything else is definitely fine. The power button LEDs do light up, and when I flashed the BIOS the light flickered for a couple of minutes then went out.
  8. Would it be worth reseating the CPU? I've got a giant Noctua cooler on it so it's quite a bit of effort, but it might be worth a shot
  9. Hahhahahhahaha, I'd love to, but it's definitely plugged in (to a PSU I know works) and I've tried cutting the power to it and trying again.
  10. That's possible, but it acted exactly the same before the flash and as far is I've heard even if the BIOS is bricked, USB Flashback will still work.
  11. The V4 variant is listed under the CPU support section for this motherboard, and looking on ark.intel it is definitely LGA 2011-3
  12. I get no response whatsoever - the fans don't spin at all and seeing as how I was able to flash the BIOS I know the board has power
  13. Hi all, Just got my entire system set up with an X99 Deluxe, Xeon E5-2650L V4 and 16GB of DDR4. Unfortunately I get absolutely no response from either the power button on the board or from shorting out the powee button pins on the board with a screwdriver. I've flashed the BIOS to the latest version using USB Flashback and I've tried different RAM configurations but I can't seem to get any response. Any advice?
  14. That's great to hear - it's just not in the official CPU support list for this motherboard so I was a bit nervous.
  15. Hi all, I'm in bit of a weird situation here - I was given a pretty good offer through some of my business contacts on an E5-2650L V3 which I took, but it turns out I've received an E5-2650L V4. I already owned an X99 motherboard (the X99 Deluxe from Asus) but it turns out that the V4 isn't officially supported. I haven't had the chance to test it out (still waiting on some new RAM) but does anyone have any idea whether it'll work? This board does support the consumer Broadwell E chips and the Deluxe II (which doesn't seem to be vastly different) has support for this CPU. I was wondering if anyone on here had any idea of the probability of this CPU working and if it doesn't any ways to get it to. Thanks in advance.
