  1. I would if I could, but my personal computer will be at my apartment, but we have to have a computer in our studios on campus as well to be able to do work during class, so it will have to be a whole new build
  2. Im not completely certain on all of them. I know any of the Autodesk products are very CPU intensive, but other than that I have tried to look up the others, but I’m finding less than conclusive info. Also, I just updated my signature so it is actually correct lol
  3. Budget (including currency): $2500 Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite, Solidworks, Inventor, AutoCAD Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Hey everyone! I am pretty well versed in PC components and building for gaming purposes, but I’m not so sure about everything on the workstation side. This will be a new build for school for this fall. Everything will be bought new, and will be looking over the next couple months to purchase. Tower only, no peripherals needed. will be used with a 3440x1440 34inch ultra wide. My current personal build will is listed below to get an idea of what I use on a daily basis.
  4. That would definitely matter. My bad for not including it. It would be 3440x1440 120hz paired with an i7 3930k
  5. Hey guys, I am in the market for a card for my second PC, and I am wondering if it would be a better deal to get a 980 for $100, 1070 for $200, or a 1080 for $275? Thanks in advance.
  6. I guess at this point anything is possible. Would there be a way to check for that since I cant make it far enough in to get any diagnostic data?
  7. Ya. Lights come on and fans spin. It displays through the bios screen, so it is working, it just wont work normally for some reason
  8. ? I tried HDMI as well and the second displayport port on the card, and neither did anything different
  9. Just had the most frustrating 2 hours ever. Came home from work to game, but I turned my computer on, and my monitor was just showing "No Displayport detected". So naturally I started googling things, and I tried unplugging my monitor to reset it, tried reseating the gpu, tried a different slot, but nothing was working. I finally managed to get it to at least display the Asus Bios screen , but my keyboard and mouse werent getting power soon enough to actually enter the bios, and then it would just sit there on a black screen and do nothing. As a last resort I swapped back in my old GTX 780 Classified, and loe-and-behold, everything works like normal. Any idea what the problem could be? Thanks. Build: CPU: i7-3930k Mobo: Asus Rampage IV Extreme RAM: 4x4 Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600Mhz GPU: Asus Strix GTX 1080
  10. Hey guys! I have a 5820k that has been sitting around for awhile now that I am going to make a build for. I am planning on making an HTPC style build so it can sit next to my TV, and can connect to my racing sim setup when I need it to. I am planning on using the Silverstone SST GD09B(https://www.newegg.com/silverstone-gd09b-black/p/N82E16811163257?Description=htpc case atx&cm_re=htpc_case_atx-_-11-163-257-_-Product&quicklink=true), and on Newegg it says that the max cooler height is 138mm, so I have been looking for something that could let me have good cooling even on the 2011-3 platform. Any suggestions?
  11. That is a breath of relief for me then. I have been stressing over this chemistry class, and my potentially low GPA. I was in almost all honors classes in high school, so getting a C is a rare occurrence for me. I just didn't want it to bite me in the butt later on down the line.
  12. Hey guys, So as my first year of college winds down, I realized a lot of things have happened so far. I went from a math loving wannabe Mechanical Engineer to a CADD loving geek. I dropped out of Calc 2 because my teacher didn't teach in a way that I understood, and my chem teacher is one of the quirkiest people I have ever met. With that being said I have taken some time to reflect on my courses and my GPA. I have gotten an A in all the degree specific classes I have taken other than Calc 1(8am is not a nice time to take a class). I am thinking that I am gonna end the semester with a C in chemistry as well, but it is not required for my degree. This leaves me with roughly a 3.2 GPA, but a 3.5 if you remove the chemistry grade since it is not for my degree. When looking ahead into getting a job, would companies look more at cumulative GPA, or do they really only care about the classes that would pertain to the job I would be doing(i.e. would a D in music appreciation negatively affect the way a company looks at an engineering student if their cumulative GPA was a 3.6?)? I thank all of those who will help me out here. I look forwarding to conversing with you in this thread. Thanks, Nick
  13. I do kind of want it to be mobile, and I do not plan on taking on it. That's what my desktop is for. And around 1500 USD in America.
  14. What thermal issues do the touchbar ones have? I guess I haven't seen anything about them having extra issues...
  15. Do I really need 256gb+? I have an 8tb external hard drive that I got cheap that I plan to keep all my files on. And then. Do you think that the touch bar is a good enough addition that it should be purchased? Or is it not worth it yet?
