It's not in the article, but Brad Chaos of pcworld was able to get a stable overclock of 1405MHz on his review unit.

Wow this post is like a deja vu to me, i think i've seen similar post when AMD released the 290s but it was against the 780s back in 2013.  

On the note of both having exciting hardware, we should all be happy to see both competitors fighting hard for the sweetspot of affordable 200-250usd range cards. Surely one carries out more propriatary bs than the other, although both will have to start on a more or less balanced field with vulkan/dx12 games.

Pcper said that the strix card is gonna draw all the power from the pcie connectors which is somewhat of over kill but we'll see. It's said to release mid next month. Performance wise it's gonna be 15% above stock 480. Read more:

These all look good and should preform similarly, I'm sitting here staring at my Reference RX 480 and its puny 6-pin connector, maybe I'll send it back for one of these.
