  1. My friend has an old ThinkCentre K410 that he wants to turn into a light workstation that he can edit videos on, and also run VMs on. Current processor is a G2020, so we were thinking about switching it out with a used i7-3770 or i7-2600. The hard drive is kind of slow, so we were thinking about getting a 240 gig SSD. There's no GPU either, but that would also warrant a new PSU to support one, which would need a bit more saving up. Budget is $100. So if he wants to have the best video editing experience, what should we do?
  2. nearing 3000 pages how has this forum not broken honestly since I know im not going to win and nobody will see this ill make it quick regular blade will be cool but the blade stealth would be better for school
  3. well I never really bought this keyboard in the first place my dad let me use it because my laptop broke a few years ago so I had to use it like a desktop and I needed a keyboard for it. I will never intend on buying products as crappy as a wireless membrane keyboard for a gaming setup either. Its not that I ever bought anything bad, in fact all my purchases have been great (besides turtle beaches I bought for my xbox back in the day that broke in a month), but the k360 and iHome are placeholders until I get something better. The only position I got myself in was a financial one but I'm glad I overspent on a PC (gotta hit that 60 frames on arma m8) and I am willing to wait to save up for something better. The advice you gave me on looking out for low-quality keyboards was good, but I don't think I have enough stuff to sell in order to buy top-notch peripherals.
  4. Deathstalker is membrane, as well as the switches in the keyboard you sent me and the one im using now. Deathstalker should type like an average laptop keyboard. All the reviewers said they were satisfied and if it types better than what I have now and doesn't have problems (which nobody mentioned) it should be good. I don't care if the switches aren't as crisp as Cherry switches either. and I am not spending $180 on k70 rgbs k maybe I could save for like a quickfire rapid keyboard but not forking out more than $80 on a keyboard.
  5. So! I have a budget of $46 and I NEED new peripherals. (no not want) My logi K360 keyboard has typed like crap since I first got it, which you can expect from a $20 wireless keyboard. It's cheap, it feels cheap, its super mushy and awful to type on, and it malfunctions sometimes (although they are rare). Literally, my fingers are crying for help every time I click a key on this thing. Typing on a touch screen is better, and that's saying a lot. I'm almost positive that this thing will kick the bucket sooner or later and I do NOT want to be stuck with an on-screen keyboard for any amount of time. I went hunting on Amazon and found a (possible) replacement: the EagleTec KG010. Click spoiler if you wonder why I chose a keyboard as uncommon as this. If you have one, tell me how it is. I was originally planning on buying that, but then I realized - I could get new headphones for that too - and my speakers, well, aren't even designed for what I use them for (gaming and YouTube). I have an old iHome that I repurposed as my computer speakers after my Apple Earpods kicked the bucket. Yeah - you can already tell they are crap. While voices can be heard in YouTube videos and in skype calls are muffled and IMPOSSIBLE to make out over the distorted noise that is gunfire in games like Counter-Strike or Arma, and footsteps and Counter-Strike, well, aren't there. A new set of headphones is almost a priority, and I have my eyes set on Status Audio HD Ones, which are widely accepted as the best headphones under $50. If you have one, tell me how you like em. (I already have a condenser microphone so I don't need a headset.) Well that's where I am stuck. I need a new keyboard and new headphones, but I don't know which one I should by first. Any opinions? Thanks
  6. Thanks for your post! Even though AmbientLED isn't on the Z170-HD3P download page, the one on the Z170X-UD3P page worked like a charm!
  7. I think Ambient LED works on your motherboard. Go to http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5499#utility , download App Center then download AmbientLED and I think you can disable it.
  8. I purchased the GA-Z170-HD3P because of its low price and sleek black look. There were yellow accents, sure, but they were pretty much invisible. However, only after finishing my PC did I realize a yellow light strip was part of the motherboard, and it clashes with the rest of my build. Does anybody else have an Ultra Durable Z170 motherboard and know how to disable the yellow strip? Thanks
  9. Thats great and all, but all I have is $5 and a $10 Amazon gift card.
  10. Last attempt at buying an LED strip did not go well. I bought the Silverstone one, but its adhesive sucks and after hot glueing it to the case because nothing else would make it stick, it wouldn't turn on, and I soon realized that the soldering on the connector had come undone. But after trying to pull it out, I shorted out the LED strip and now I think its fried. So, are there any options (on Amazon) that are bright enough, have half decent adhesive, and are under $15? Thanks.
  11. I didn't get this card new - but after a bit of use I noticed something was up. Most people were able to get 200mhz overclocks on their EVGA GTX 780 SCs. I used the same settings as them, like +38mVs, +200MHz clock, etc. and every time I ran a game or benchmark it stopped and I got a little error letting me know the NVIDIA drivers froze and recovered, but the game is still frozen. Tuning down the OC to +100MHz works fine though. When I ran Unigine Heaven, I noticed my scores were low-ish, like 1500 or so. Taking a closer look during the benchmark reveals my memory is running at 3000 MHz, and looking at GPU-Z, the memory is running at an EXTREMELY slow 1502 MHz. What?? The memory is advertised to run at 6004 MHz, but it isn't nearly that high. What is the problem? System: i5-6600k @ 4.7 GHZ G.Skill Ripjaws V @ 3200 MHz Gigabyte Z170-HD3P 840 EVO ssd EDIT: Unigine Heaven shows my GPU running at 1406 MHz, which is a lot more than the 967+100 MHz its supposed to be running at. Also, the memory speed shown in Unigine Heaven is exactly half of the advertised VRAM speed (3004 instead of 6008), and GPU-Z shows half of that (1502 instead of 6008)
  12. wasn't that driver 364.something because I am using their game ready stable version and I only have one monitor
  13. Got Windows installed on my rig a week and a half ago, and the day after I started to play games on it, MGS V would play fine for the first 5 seconds, then freeze, then I would get a windows notification letting me know that the drivers crashed and recovered. The game was still frozen though, and I had to restart my PC. Playing CS:GO gave me the same error, but unfroze afterwards. I was able to play MGS V after that. Now, I am playing games on this PC for the first time in a week and CSGO is extremely buggy. I get into a match for 5 seconds, then I get a gray screen (which I can't get out of even with Win+Tab and Ctrl+Alt+Del) and have to restart my computer. 3DMark Firestrike fails to work sometimes when I run it, and trying to game on this PC has been a nightmare. WHAIIIIIII
  14. haha idk about that I do like to stare at my pc a lot but yeah
