  1. I am going to assume the connector on the right is for the pump. Yes, 4pin and 3pin connector guides are interchangeable as they only go in one way. In the case of the 3pin into 4pin, the outer most pin will just be exposed. A 3pin connector utilizes voltage speed control, whilst the 4pin would utilize PWM (pulse width modulation).
  2. Getting a 43" monitor with high resolution & refresh rate is going to run you a pretty penny in the $2000+ mark for a single display especially with OLED at least in Canada. Out of interest, you can take a look at the Alienware 34 QD-OLED (AW3423DW) which is curved, QD OLED, 34-inch, 175hz, 3440p x 1440p, 0.1ms. It has both options/models for AMD FreeSync Premium Pro & NVIDIA G-SYNC ULTIMATE for which ever GPU you end up picking up to complete your build. It was also recently featured in a LTT video.
  3. So not sure exactly what your question is, but in terms of specs, you are more than set for running a file server with the CPU alone. I would personally even drop the GPU and run the system headless if you don't plan on doing transcoding (and even then your CPU can handle most tasks), selling it and recovering costs for your studies might be an option. I would flash the system with a NAS-specific OS, I recommend TrueNAS Scale, but assuming by your initial question I would suggest Unraid as it's very newbie friendly, and allows for expandability without the hassle, with easy docker deployment. You can use your SSD for the cache as Unraid lacks in speed due to its design, and HDD for all your files then set up docker for your password manager, ex: self-hosted Bitwarden. In terms of your usage with a Mac, this should be no problem as you can just connect to the server via SMB and everything will look like a USB drive per se. SMB works over WiFi assuming you are on the same network.
  4. I believe the mobo I ordered has 4 VRMs, not sure. I think this should be fine for my usage with a OC on the CPU to 4.8-5.0Ghz
  5. Exactly where I saw that. I am assuming the worst case scenario just in case to calculate "peak" power. Safe to say I got plenty of room for OCing. ?
  6. Looked at some tier lists, seemed to be one of the highest rated PSUs for such a low wattage. I would reuse my EVGA G2 550W, but that thing has been trecking hard for 4 years now.
  7. I researched a bit, the peak power on the RTX 2070 is around 230W and 180W on torture loop for the CPU. I think this is enough headroom?
  8. I am more curious and wondering do I have headroom for overclocking the GPU along with CPU with my motherboard and PSU. I know I got a motherboard on the cheaper end and lack VRM, but other than that, am I able to push a stable 4.9Ghz and a good GPU boost with no issues?
  9. On the money. Exactly what I am going to do.
  10. Look above, forgot to mention in the original post. Oops ?
  11. Have a 4TD HDD and 250GB SSD coming from my current build! Decided to get an M.2 (OS) and another 250GB EVO 860 for RAID.

  13. I purchased a i5-9600K along with a MSI Z390-A Pro Motherboard. I have read that the BIOS may need a BIOS update prior to using Coffee Lake Refresh CPUs. How would I do this if I do not have any other Intel Chip to do so?
