This game was more meaningful to me than i ever thought it was going to be, probably one of the games I had most immersion of all.

So long as thermal throttling is not bad or is absent altogether, you could probably play GTA V at minimum settings at 30+ FPS. But $900 after the Indiegogo is done is insane for the specs IMO.

Thanks that looks like the answer. XIM4 is no longer made but hey are coming out with XIM Apex in Q1 2018 so that sounds great.

shadowbyte reacted to Oshino Shinobu in The fastest SSD for gaming, and one big problem..
The marketing on these SSDs and NVMe SSDs in general is atrocious. They're slapping the "gaming" marketing on them, despite gaming being one of the main areas that it barely makes a difference.
Why can't they just market them for what they are, excellent work/scratch drives, not "gaming" drives.
EDIT: It's worse than the normal "gamer" marketing, which is normally just RGB lights and a flashy design, but this is what I'd consider close to false advertising. It's marketed as making a huge difference for gaming, but it barely makes any difference.
It basically just preys on your average consumer that doesn't know how data is read and stored or things like random read/write and sequential read/write.

shadowbyte reacted to AlTech in Boycott Proposal to Improve Gaming
Hi,
I've been thinking about this for a while and I'd like to propose a Boycott to improve the Gaming Industry.
For too long, Microtransactions and Lootboxes have plagued our Full Priced AAA video games. For too long, insulting and non-proper DLC and Pre-order bullshit has been a part of this industry.
Today I'd like to propose a Boycott to show Game Publishers and Developers that we will not stand for their bullshit anymore.
This boycott would include not buying or playing any Games published or developed by the following companies or their subsidiaries or parent companies:
Electronic Arts Take Two Interactive (2K Games) Ubisoft Gearbox Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment Activision Blizzard Square Enix Nintendo Bandai Namco Crystal Dynamics Studio Wildcard Sony PUBG Corp/Bluehole Studios Techland Microsoft Studios Bungie DICE WarGaming Valve
This boycott would last until all or most of the companies on this list stop including lootboxes and microtransactions in full priced games, pre-order bonuses and insulting DLC.
I'm volunteering the name of The Great 2018 Video Game Developer and Publisher Boycott.
If you have any suggestions then please post a reply below.
The aim of this boycott would be to get game developers and publishers to understand that they can't treat consumers like they're stupid and that they can't get away with anti-consumer behavior.
Thanks .

Hmm, so I shouldnt buy the Life is Strange games, which are cheap and amazing, because Square Enix published them?
Better yet, I will stop buying clothes and eletronics also to boycott underpaid/slave jobs.
And I will not eat food, because agriculture is a massive industry with lots of bad practices...
yeah, no.
I agree with the ideia of waiting before buying and not being STUPID, but a full scale boycott makes no sense (and will never happen anyway)

I don't like it as it is in essence being arrested for violating a EULA, EULA's should never be legally binding. Fortunately its in China, not the west (yet).

Remember Me is a load of fun with a good story (imo). Essentially, it's based in future Paris where memories are stored by a large corporation called Memorize. You play as Nilin, a memory hunter who can remix other people's memories to influence them.
it's probably in my top 10 games, and it's around 10 dollars on Steam

shadowbyte reacted to Master Disaster in AAA Single Player Games are too expensive to make says Developer of Quantum Break
Let's look at some evidence shall we...
SP Games everyone praised in 2017
Zelda BOTW
Uncharted The Lost Legacy
Nioh
Getting Over It
Mario & Rabbids
Metroid Samus Returns
Sonic Mania
Hellblade Senuas Sacrifice
Cuphead
Wolfenstein 2
Horizon Zero Dawn
Prey
Resident Evil 7
Nier Automata
Odyssey
Assassin's Creed Origins
MP Games everyone praised in 2017
PUBG
Xcom 2
Games everyone hated in 2017
SWBF2 - Lootboxes
NBA2k18 - Lootboxes
Shadow Of War - Lootboxes
Destiny 2 - Lootboxes
Need For Speed Payback - Lootboxes
Ghost Recon Wildlands - Repetitive & Boring
For Honor - Lootboxes
Mass Effect Andromeda - Broken AF
So tell me again devs how single player games aren't popular and don't make money.
The problem AAA publishers have is unrealistic expectations, they set arbitrary performance goals, usually months before the games even launch and then class the game as a failure if it doesn't meet said goals. Making a profit isn't enough these days, games have to make enough profit to match predictions.
Also anybody remember EA saying the BF2 fiasco wouldn't hurt them materially? Yeah EA basically admitted that they make enough profit out of their games to cover costs without Lootboxes.
You'd have to be a special kind of special to believe that making online focused games is somehow cheaper than making SP games, they prefer MP games cause they can nickel & dime players easier.
Fuck the gaming industry.

shadowbyte reacted to LAwLz in AAA Single Player Games are too expensive to make says Developer of Quantum Break
At the end of the day, the business is in control of the cost and content of their product.
Developing a game is both easier and cheaper now than it has ever been. It's just that game development companies choose to spend more money. They hire more developers than they used to. They hire more artists. They spend more on marketing. They are the ones choosing to do all those things.
The original Unreal game was created by 15 people. That was it. That includes the producers, designers, programmers, sound and visual artists. They did not use any of the convienence luxuries we have today either, like pre-made game engines. They did everything themselves.
Of course a game will be more expensive if you employ ~150 people instead of 15. That is your decision though.
I'm sure they would love to argue that the increase in people result in a better game, and I am not entirely convinced. It might be better in some regards but I wouldn't be surprised if "too many cooks" often creates problems too.
It's like with the LinusTechTips channel.
"We have all these ads in our videos because we need money to pay our employees".
The amount of videos (and games) haven't gone up from these video creators (game developers), but they have willingly increased the cost of production.
The only ones to blame for the increased costs are themselves. They are the only ones in control of their production costs.

shadowbyte reacted to DarkBlade2117 in Intel releases 8th gen with VEGA M
I think a lot of people are ignoring the fact that AMD is likely gaining a lot of money from this and it is giving them marketing. Every laptop that sells these will likely state it has Radeon Vega M Graphics which is marketing for AMD. They would never have done this if it doesn't benefit them in some way.

have you ever tried a high refresh rate panel?
I thought the same until I purchased a 144hz panel; the difference is massive. 60fps is still playable, but seems 'slow' compared to triple digit.

shadowbyte got a reaction from Damascus in Personal opinions on RGB....
imo, aesthetic RGB is fine; I have a Hue+ in my personal build, and it's amazing to be able to choose any colour or effect for my PC if I ever feel like switching up my colour scheme.
RGB on graphics cards is fine, as long as it's tasteful (imo, the Strix cards do this well).
anything else is pretty unnecessary, save the Asus Rampage Extreme VI, because that just looks incredible.

Created an account from the link due to the sponsorship; however, I'll never play the game. I know you guys need to make money through sponsorship, but could you please pick something that you would ACTUALLY be proud to put your brand behind? A crappy F2P/P2W game? Seriously? And I bet this thing has Loot Boxes too.... Really cannot believe you guys would put your brand on something like this.

shadowbyte reacted to SanityAgathion in CHEAP Korean 144Hz Gaming Monitor - Classic Unboxing
OK, so, there's a monitor that caught Linus' interest, is not very common, so I'd expect at least ... you know ... some kind of information about it when video is made. Just like with that cringeworthy non-review of Korean 3440x1440 Freesync monitor with (at that time) brand new Samsung panel, this video left many questions unanswered.
1. Freesync range?
2. Which DisplayPort standard it supports?
3. Which HDMI standard it supports?
4. PIP, picture by picture, ...?
5. Does it have scaler, how it behaves with lower resolutions, etc?
6. Overclockable?
7. Color uniformity, color output, backlight bleed, IPS glow, and other ... kind of important things for IPS panels?
5. Where to order, availability?
Do not get me wrong, but this is getting more into "reality show" and not "tech information" territory. To make matters worse, half of video is dedicated to different product - without even telling basic things about it, like, for example, do those graphic cards even support Freesync to make video relevant in first place? Why even bother then?
