So I am moving my current setup in to my shed for more space, and i need the most reliable way of getting my internet over there i know a fair bit about networking so i know some options but there are pros and cons to all of them and just want to know what the best option is
What i would like:
To keep as much of my gigabit interent speed as possible ( I know with most of these i will lose some which is fine)
Keep most of my stuff that needs internet accesss hard wired ( having half decent wifi would be nice as well for my phones and things like that but that is low priority)
My cucrrent soution:
I currently have and erro mesh network router and have serveal of them leading from my modem to my shed. I get a reliable internet connection but at a really reduced speed of around 60-80 up and down which is I know is still usable but know where near the 800-900 I am used to getting be directly wired in
Solutions I have though of:
Powerline adapter into network switch. My problem with this is that i haven't read great things on using a switch on a powerline adapter and I am no 100% positive it will work. From what I know about powerlin adapters it should becasue the electricty in the shed it wired from the same room as my current modem and router
The obvious one to me is just running an eathernet cable to the shed. My complait with this is just having to make holes and burry the cabel other than that I have no issue
Lastly was to use some kind of PtP link. Only thing being is i still have to make holes i just dont have to burry a cabel but then i get the added work of setting up those things correctly
I am happy to give more info if needed
