The app functionality alone makes it great. I don't have a proper setup for audio and chances are won't for some time, I do have my phone at all times and TBH I'd sooner rig up a mount for that to see text flowing in or just hear things, don't always need or want to talk or type back cause I don't always need to, you know?

Just being able to type and have channel members see it and talk back makes this far superior to TS for me.

you know that there is an "unsubscribe" button at the bottom of every one of those emails, right?
there was a law passed several years ago that made that a requirement

so you can unsubscribe from pretty much any legal "newsletter" (of course the illegal stuff like pills and what not dont allow you to do that)

I dont see why giving them your email is so bad...i mean its not like 20 other companies dont have it already

I don't mind personally. I actually use GeForce Experience to control the LEDs on my GPUs and use ShadowPlay and GameStream. I think they should allow the choice, but I won't cry about it.

inb4 the AMD brigade comes in to decry NVIDIA with unsubstantiated claims (I've got no problem with people having objections, I just think the whole DAE NVIDIOTS thing is annoying)

Because they can do much more with a wide core whose average IPC is 0.9 than with a narrow core whose average ipc is 0.9?

Im not only talking about vectors. they added TSX. they added AES NI, they improved FMA to a point where they almost dont need separate MUL and ADDs anymore. im sure ive missed one or two, @patrickjp93?

Lol No. Intel isnt developing the iGPU for us pleb consumers. intel is toughening up in the HPC market. Going after Tesla. First Knights landing Xeon Phi, and when ready, a true GPU architecture.

also there is only so much they can do when their IPC is around 0.9, with the theorethical maximum being 1. They can add newer vector instructions, that noone uses but HPC people. And they did. They added AVX 512 to Skylake. for those that will use them.

The consumer world needs to catch up to intel software wise, before intel has any reason to really work on their execution speed. so its great they are working on power efficiency, because x86 is bloated to fuck with legacy crap, and they need to sort that out

Have you ever seen a mirrorless? They aren't anywhere near as bulky as a dslr. What I was saying is that as long as the camera on the phone is decent, it's fine for the few times where you really need to take a picture and don't have your main camera around, but if you want really good quality it will never be enough.

Well it HAS improved, since it gets the same score but with a higher resolution, also 4k vidoe and better performance etc

Sure dynamic range and ISO performance might not have changed, but the camera is still an improvment, and still in the top 10

lets not forget, its an S phone which is more about performance upgrade!, lets see what the iPhone 7 can bring

Yes you're reading it wrong. The patent's purpose was for improving the efficiency of ARM chips, not the idea of improving the efficiency itself, it might be some design/architectural patent.

Just like Asetek has a patent on waterblocks with pumps, with the purpose of cooling CPUs (or whatever under it), they have a patent on how to do it, not a patent on cooling CPUs.

No I know that, I wanted something more specific "improves processor efficiency", how do you patent that, since the CPUs are of Apples own designs etc

Seems crazy to patent such a none specific method of speeding up ARM chips, unless there is something very specific that no other company could do

Like could an engineer not figure out this processor improvement without stealing anything etc?

Gjallarhorn reacted to GoodBytes in Microsoft’s New Surface Book Laptop-Hybrid Sells Out On Its Online Store
The Surface Book manufacture order is clearly lower than the Surface Pro one, as it is a new product and they are trying to avoid over making them like they did with the Surface RT costing millions for the company. But, the Surface line has sold well. I recall me waiting 3 months for being able to order the Surface Pro 2. I did see with stores, and they did receive (or so they claim) 10, even up to 20 for a week in big electronic store and sale out within the same day. Pretty shocking. Microsoft quarterly result has confirmed this.  The Pro 3 sold even better as well (and Microsoft increased the production) and still sold out. The Surface is now a billion dollar product revenue for Microsoft (see their financial reports). That is why everyone is jumping onboard and getting a peace of the pie. Apple, Lenovo, Toshiba, and HP to name some examples, all copying the Surface line product

Look HP is not even hiding it.

Also many Surface Pro 4 models are also sold out

Yes. Before the Surface you had devices like this:
They cost ~3000$ or so (for the ones with a pen system that you don't need to fight with), they were very big, heavy, crazy short battery (4-6h at best), super weak CPU, the cheaper ones were loud, innovation was minimal. They were catered to onsite engineers and similar roles.

Then comes the Surface. This device that is like the one above, but thinner, crazy battery life in comparison, cool and quiet (and much quieter under load), solid build quality, serious performance, inexpensive in comparison, high resolution IPS panel (above device, most had TN panel, with Windows minimum supported resolution), high attention to details down to be like Apple and Razer, where you don't see the metal casing of the ports (something I wish that case manufactures do, but reviewer are too busy trying to fit their 4 fan slot radiator when most people use air cool), and well, the device is just really good in all aspects.

Now that the Surface Pro arrived in consumer hands, and that tablets are becoming more popular, and that people want to do more with their tablets, they see the power of the pen input in their day to day activity and how it improves their work flow. And now the Surface Pro, is a tablet + laptop. No longer they need to carry 2 devices. The pen is what makes the Surface Pro what it is, and  the pen has great advantages over keyboard and mouse in many aspects, bringing in a new input device. So the Surface Pro sales, as people buying it.
More and more productivity software support touch and pen in Windows. Just to show the impact this device has.
I think that is why it is so popular. We see innovation. A high quality device. Pushes the industry forward. And useful to many.
Unlike Apple, the Surface line is productivity tool. It's not a fashion statement, it's not what is hip. Sure it looks beautiful for many people, but it is a powerful tool to many and most importantly to them. So important in fact, that they have no problem paying the premium price.

Awesome, that makes the chromecast quite useful for you.
Most people don't use the screen sharing though. Or they use it for something that a Roku or other TV box can do natively without having to screen cast another device.

Yet practically everyone and their mother recommends the chromecast on this forum, despite on many situations where they aren't the ideal device.
In most cases, I'd recommend a Roku 3 over a chromecast, unless the screen sharing feature is something you specifically need - which is not, for most people.

Cool so we know for sure expansions are going to cost $15 each, so Premium, I mean "Season Pass" will look good because it'll save you $10, just like in BF3/4.

This isn't new, and honestly I don't see this as a negative. If you're going to buy the DLC anyway you might as well buy the Season Pass, EA/DICE always delivers on their DLC. If you're not going to buy DLC or the Season Pass for full price then wait for a sale.

Are you guys really surprised? I thought it was obvious since Battlefield and pretty much all new games got season passes. 50 dollars for 4 expansions seems reasonable... is what I would say if I thought the expansions would end up being more than just some map pack that might as well have been created by a modder on his free time.

Sorry but "iie" is not pronounced like EA, unless you say EA in a really peculiar way.
