    With or without condoms?

OP: go to your sound driver's application, the application that's automatically installed when you install the driver. Look around for an option of something like 'fill speakers', or 'fill audio', or 'use all speakers', something like that (the naming depends on each brands'). What this does is basically 'copy' the stereo channels to 5 channels (or 7 channels). You may or may not need to fiddle around the windows' audio settings too. Some application affect the windows' audio settings automatically, some don't.

Alternatively, get a Foobar2k (free), and find a plugin called 'channel mixer' (also free). Install, activate on preference. The upmixing by the plugin got more versatility, you can tweak lots of stuffs with it. You can even set delays for each channels, to simulate big rooms.

The standard 3.5mm headphones (no in-line controls on the cable) use the configuration of (from left to right)
TRS- Tip, Ring, Sleeve. The pinout for these connections is: Left Audio, Right Audio, Ground.

Connection types for headphones with a mic (and newer ones with volume control) are configured in
    TRRS- Tip, Ring, Ring, Sleeve.

On TRRS there are 2 types-
    1. The original TRRS configuration was created by Nokia and has a pinout of Left Audio, Right Audio, Mic, Ground.

Apple came along and in typical elitist fashion changed their pinout to Left Audio, Right Audio, Ground, Mic.

This is why many apple headsets will not work with android, because the last 2 connections, for Mic and Ground are switched. The issue is with the hardware.

The way that songs are skipped (forwards, backwards, and pause) occurs by sending signals down the ground channel(when you tap the button it shoots an electrical signal that the phone will pick up and interpret).
The way that volume is increased/decreased occurs by sending signals down the Mic channel.
This is why- if you try a set of newer iPhone earbuds on the GSIII- as I have- the center button does nothing, but yet the volume up and volume down both pause tracks, and allow you to skip them!!

Additionally, Apple has patents on their TRRS connection- in fact on the resistances (the actual ohm resistance in-line on the controls- not to get scientific or anything) so that the headphones are designed to work only with Apple products. In other words- you could have a device with the same TRRS Pinout as apple products- but the headset wont work because the resistances (ohms) of the headphones send signals that your phone is not allowed to interpret into the correct actions (since apple patented these)

Hope this clarifies things up a bit

themellowtiger got a reaction from Senor Potato in Wireless Charging in Teslas?
Hopeful as I am, i was browsing the tesla website and admiring the works of art they have there when i remember back to a video Linus did about a wireless charging mat for phones.
Tesla cars can plug in pretty much anywhere an outlet is, charging at home or on the go or at one of the many charging stations.

But wouldn't it be easier, to just drive into your garage and leave the car there, and to trust the mat built into the floor to charge your car efficiently?  It got me thinking, and with the recent Solar Roadways being disproven as useful, would it be possible or beneficial to slap some wireless chargers on the tarmac. Eventually, as more electric cars surface and more people convert, simply driving your car on the road would charge it, never to run out of fuel.

Its just an idea, but i did some research around and found some articles regarding charging public buses in South Korea (always ahead of the curve) and the UK.

    Any Ideas?

It is a beautiful future. Imagine, all power coming from solar. We could plaster the Sahara with it and pump the African economies full of money in the process to help them along. So much energy that we couldn't possibly use it all and we start making things like heated anti-fog sunglasses and stuff.

i think that charging a tesla without wires is just not worth it maybe at home if the efficiency of the charging proces would get to like around 95% at least. cause the infrastructure and all the other problems related makes this a pain to do it in the city and its just to complicated. at home maybe but lets face it there's no point spending more money on the charging mat just to save yourself from pluging the charger in. its not a hastle so the wireless charging thing makes no sense until the technology becomes so cheap that it will  be like 20$.im not against it cause it would be cool to see this but from a financial and engineering standpoint its just not worth it at least now. btw i dont really see a point in charging the tesla on the go i dont think anyone does more than 200miles a day in the city and if you drive long distances than the tesla is just not for u the battery technology just isnt there yet. and if u drive around the city the battery's will be more than enough for one day and charge it up during the night.

Start around 3:45 if you just want to see the charger. It's not wireless, but rises out of the ground and turns on only when the pod needs it.

There's a really cool documentary on Masdar City. I can't remember the name, I think just City of the Future. There's also a bloomberg brink 20min special on it on Netflix.

IT related job or do some open source stuff, freelance or anything else to show you have some practical skills when appyling for real job. At least in our company your CV just with education doesn't mean a lot. Even university degree without some practical skills is useless. There's few interviews and in the end practical tasks with some help from senior developer. When I applied I showed web app that pulled data from one online game API and formatted for us in Wiki. The task I was given was write a class for handling discount for job cart. Another was converting arabic numbers to roman. So my advise is to just get dirty and create something.

I'm currently a high school senior with little to no funds for online ventures, but I hope to find some reputable certification in my desired field.
I thought that this would be a good place to ask, given that the vast majority of the forum-goers have undergone some kind of computer / IT related training.
I know that most 'free' certs done really have any merit, but I still rather be completely sure that there is no free options out there.

It isn't really necessary, entering my final year at high school, to have these certifications but I have some annoyingly extra free time during the summer that i'd like to fill.
My field, generalized, is computer science and information technology; but im leaning more towards Computer System Analyst or Database Admin.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    +1 for this

OP: so those big cones below don't move/vibrate at all? Possibly blown/leaked capacitors in the crossover circuit/PCB (inside the speaker box), as it's an old pair anyway. Bring them to an electronic service, or someone who can service electronic stuffs. If it's just 1-2 blown electronic parts, should be relatively cheap to fix (unless the guy rip you off)

If you wanna go DIY style, open the speakers' boxes, take out the circuit board inside, get your multitester, and test out the resistors and capacitors in the circuit board. You could search for videos on how to test for bad capacitors. With some luck, you could pinpoint which part is broken, and replace them.

Those are nice looking speakers, btw....
