Yes, you can. In fact, you may have more driver problems with GPUs from the same vendor when they don't need the exact same one (say, you have a GTX and a Quadro), because they still share some stuff. With different vendors everything is separate, just as @porina said, make sure you send the right job to the right card.

From my experience (old as f GTX 275 and RX470 used together), it will work fine because their drivers dont apply on the same card.

I've not had major problems in the past mixing red and green GPUs in one system. The only minor niggle for compute uses is ensuring the software tries to run on the right card. For stuff like gaming, it isn't a problem.

One minor concern is I think different GPUs have different levels of CUDA support. Just make sure it is not too old for whatever you're doing with it.

    Greetings friends in LTT forum,
I have been considered buying a tablet for my next year college study and i would like to have some suggestion on what to buy.

    Information and requirement:
Prefer Windows OS, for installing IT related software and better transfer-ration from my PC to the tablet, also not interested in any Android/ iOS only apps. Budget will be around 600USD, feel free to suggest slightly higher price product tho. Tablet will mainly for documentation, light-medium weight programming in school, personal entertainment (watching video, playing some lightweight games) too. I already own a portable Bluetooth keyboard that I love it very much. I own a relative strong PC ,so whenever I am at home and i need to do heavy duties, I am fine with that. So the questions are:
Based on the above info. and requirements, is surface 3 128G the best to go? Any better or similar alternative? If yes, can the cpu in surface 3 ( I believe is Quad-core Intel Atom x7-Z8700 processor ) with 4GB Ram be enough for the above usage? Thank you for any suggestions!!

Dude. Same. I'm in HK as well.  Except English is my first language.

As for Surface 3........ How long can you hold off purchasing it? It's been around a year since it came out. It's rumored to be refreshed in February 2017.

The only issues with Surface 3 is that A) You'll have a tiny keyboard (you should get the type cover even if you have a Bluetooth keyboard)
    B) It takes forever to charge (like around 4 hours - An average laptop charges in 2 hours)
    C) Pen isn't included (May not be an issue for you)
    D) No Windows Hello (Also comes down to preference)

Make sure you get the 4GB model. I would encourage you to go to your nearest Fortress store and try it out.
They'll let you try out the trackpad and you can even buy it on the spot.

IF you do serious or moderate programming DO NOT BUY IT!

If you don't mind a laptop at $100 more check this out: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/acer-aspire-r14-2-in-1-14-touch-screen-laptop-intel-core-i5-8gb-memory-256gb-solid-state-drive-black/4503300.p?id=1219755698811&skuId=4503300

If you want a portable machine, I don't think you can go wrong with the Surface 3. It offers full Windows and is much more powerful than its tablet-based competition. I don't think there's another product that matches its versatility.

I put one Ram stick into B1, using 8GB memory , it is still possible for me to boot into BIOS.
    update since i posted :
Installed Windows 10 with 8GB ram as said as above. A1/A2 still fail , i think you are right my friend, one of my ram is very unstable. When i change the RAM setting in Bios to 1600MHz which it gave me 1333 MHz as default ,i cant reboot anymore. After i changed to another RAM stick , it works as it should. i will go to the shop again and see if he have any thing to say. I cant blame him for giving me bad MOBO since he really did test it in front of me though he used 1333 MHz. It is my bad for not bring the whole pc to the shop for testing.
Anyways, thank you for your advice

Definitely go with the 4790k. With the money you save, you can get a better graphics card which can be useful if you're programs can use it. Besides, the 4790k will easily last you years

First off, I loved the chips pc joke. Nice clever word play. You're better at English than you think
Now on topic, I would recommend the 6700k if the price for the mobo, ram, and cpu is comparable to the 4790k set up. However if you can't afford ddr4 ram, then just go with the 4790k. The 4790k will work very well for it.
If you do go with the 4790k try and get a better gpu than the 270x if you can. It is a decent mid range gpu, but a 280 or 380, or gtx 960 would be much better. Keep in mind, I'm not familiar with Hong Kong pricing so these might not b as close in price for you as it is here in north America.

Hey everyone , i am Bear from Hong Kong and i would like you guys to give me some ideas and suggestions for planning my new PC .
(I am not a native English speaker ,Sorry for any mistakes)

So the story is, i am using my potato PC for 3 years and since there will be ( there are, actually ) some college works coming which mostly related to 3D-modelling and probably a little bit of video editing ( plus some gaming of cos ), i am pretty sure my potato PC will become chips PC if i force it to do those works. That's why i am here to beg for some advice.

Old PC spec : Just don't even ask about my old PC , it is a 32-bits potato with a E3400 CPU. Yup it is a low level office PC.

I have two potential PC bases in my mind,
    1) i7-6700k + Z170A Gaming M5
    2) i7-4790k + z97-pro Gamer
(If GPU is necessary for just thinking about the build, then assume it will be a R9 270x 2G)

People always argue about how less the 6700k different from 4790k ( from what i saw on the Internet ) ,so i wonder in the area of 3D-Rendering, which base should i go with and why? Or is there any better base you can think of (in terms of cost / effectiveness) ?

p.s. Future proof may take place in the consideration.

It's going to come down to how much each system would cost for you in Hong Kong. If the prices are close, go with Skylake. If you'd have to spend a lot more for Skylake, go with Haswell.

I will mention that while Skylake doesn't make a very big performance difference in games, the difference is greater in more CPU-bound and memory-bound tasks. In some workstation applications, the difference is often a lot greater. But I don't know much about 3D rendering applications.

There's some 3D rendering benchmarks here, but just be aware if they aren't using the same software you do that these benchmarks may not mean very much.
