  1. WOW, thank so much for the help guys!!! Information from you guys is great. I think I will stick to the school computer, my PSU is only 550W, don't really want to risk it. (even tho GT440 is not a high consumption card, AMD 9th-series is rather high)
  2. Hi guys, Recently I started learning CUDA computing and programming with C language in one of the course in university. I have a PC which its spec as follow: i7 4790k 32GB RAM MSI AMD R9 380 2GB The rest doesn't matter, I guess... So, as you can see, my PC has a AMD GPU which is definitely not a CUDA card, and I really want to do CUDA programming outside school computer room. I have an old GIGABYTE GT440, and it makes me thinking, can i plug the Nvidia card into the computer only for CUDA computing, without removing the AMD card which is mainly for gaming? Would it be a driver disaster?
  3. Hello to my friend from Hong Kong and thanks for the detailed information. I believe my style of using this tablet/laptop would be mainly for documentation and light weight programming which I call it idea crafting, whenever i need to do "real job" i would prefer my home pc or school pc. So far keeping jobs at home and avoid any heavy duties outdoor is fine to me. I am looking forward for the new surface too. I hope they can put more effort on the cpu. Atom Cherry Trail is cool but it will be cooler if they can put better cpu in it without pricing up too much
  4. The price of this laptop in HKD is a little bit off my budget, thanks for your suggestion anyways. But i always wonder, what is the feeling of using these kind of 360 degree 2in1 laptop, when you use it in tablet mode, the keyboard is at the bottom of the device, will it feel weird to hold or something? like it is not flat?
  5. (I am from Hong Kong, not a native English speaker, sorry if i make any grammer nazi rage or something) Greetings friends in LTT forum, I have been considered buying a tablet for my next year college study and i would like to have some suggestion on what to buy. Information and requirement: Prefer Windows OS, for installing IT related software and better transfer-ration from my PC to the tablet, also not interested in any Android/ iOS only apps. Budget will be around 600USD, feel free to suggest slightly higher price product tho. Tablet will mainly for documentation, light-medium weight programming in school, personal entertainment (watching video, playing some lightweight games) too. I already own a portable Bluetooth keyboard that I love it very much. I own a relative strong PC ,so whenever I am at home and i need to do heavy duties, I am fine with that. So the questions are: Based on the above info. and requirements, is surface 3 128G the best to go? Any better or similar alternative? If yes, can the cpu in surface 3 ( I believe is Quad-core Intel Atom x7-Z8700 processor ) with 4GB Ram be enough for the above usage? Thank you for any suggestions!!
  6. Windows 10 R9 380 2G 8 GB Ram i7 4790k
  7. I really want a Roccat KIRO , i would like to know what modular build mouse is about
  8. I put one Ram stick into B1, using 8GB memory , it is still possible for me to boot into BIOS. update since i posted : Installed Windows 10 with 8GB ram as said as above. A1/A2 still fail , i think you are right my friend, one of my ram is very unstable. When i change the RAM setting in Bios to 1600MHz which it gave me 1333 MHz as default ,i cant reboot anymore. After i changed to another RAM stick , it works as it should. i will go to the shop again and see if he have any thing to say. I cant blame him for giving me bad MOBO since he really did test it in front of me though he used 1333 MHz. It is my bad for not bring the whole pc to the shop for testing. Anyways, thank you for your advice
  9. Hi guys, (not a native English speaker , sorry for any mistake) I have bought a new PC a week ago and encounter some problem about the Ram and MOBO. PC spec first: CPU : intel core i-7 4790k http://ark.intel.com/products/80807/Intel-Core-i7-4790K-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_40-GHz Ram: Corsair Vengeance 16GB kit (2x 8GB) 1600 MHz Ram http://www.corsair.com/en-us/vengeance-16gb-dual-channel-ddr3-memory-kit-cmz16gx3m2a1600c10 MOBO: ASRock Z97 pro4 http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z97%20Pro4/ SSD : SanDisk 240GB SSD Plus https://www.sandisk.com/home/ssd/ssd-plus PSU : CoolerMaster 550W blablablah ( forgot the name but 550W should be enough anyways) OS: Not yet installed Bios setting: MHz - Auto ( it gives me 1333 MHz ) No any kinds of OC. All new products So my problem is , since i have two Ram sticks, i am suppose to do dual channel so i put them into the A1 and B1 slot (Blue slots) , MOBO gives me 4 short beeps which means cant find memory or memory failed. So i change the ram to A2 B2 (Black slot) , again 4 short beeps . After that i tested the slot one by one ( single channel ) , result is that only B1 and B2 work fine and both ram stick are fine too. I went to the PC shop and asked if the MOBO have any problem and he tested it in front of me using another LGA 1150 CPU and two 1333 MHZ Ram. Result shows A1 and A2 are working fine. No bending pin in the CPU slot found. My Question is , do the MHz affect the problem here? or are the ram just not compatible on the MOBO and the CPU? or do the Bios setting means something
  10. I am so happy that i placed my order on a PC building site. ASRock Z97 Pro4 Z97 intel i7-4790K Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz 8Gb x 2 Cooler Master N400 Case Cooler Master 280L WC SanDisk SSD PLUS 240GB with Old HDD and probably a R9 380
  11. yeah thank you for all the advice, cant believe how quick this forum and people here response to posts. After reading the information from you guys , i think i will go 4790k with a z97. With some extra money, i might purchase a better cooling devices . Btw , talking about the pricing which you guys may interested. In Hong Kong, most of the hardware are relatively cheaper than other Asian country and some NA area. For example, i7-6700k is priced around $470 CAD in Hong Kong while in NCIX is priced $490 CAD ,4790k is priced aronud $425 CAD in HK while in NCIX is priced $440 CAD. However, it apply oppositely on software, like OS, Adobe's. HK : i7-6700k + Z170a gaming m5 = $470 + $277 = $747 CAD i7-4790k + Z97-Pro gamer = $425 + $186 = $611 CAD NCIX: i7-6700k + Z170a gaming m5 ( Bundle ) = $800 CAD i7-4790k + Z97-A ( Bundle ) = $650 CAD << Cant find the same MOBO
  12. Hey everyone , i am Bear from Hong Kong and i would like you guys to give me some ideas and suggestions for planning my new PC . (I am not a native English speaker ,Sorry for any mistakes) So the story is, i am using my potato PC for 3 years and since there will be ( there are, actually ) some college works coming which mostly related to 3D-modelling and probably a little bit of video editing ( plus some gaming of cos ), i am pretty sure my potato PC will become chips PC if i force it to do those works. That's why i am here to beg for some advice. Old PC spec : Just don't even ask about my old PC , it is a 32-bits potato with a E3400 CPU. Yup it is a low level office PC. I have two potential PC bases in my mind, 1) i7-6700k + Z170A Gaming M5 2) i7-4790k + z97-pro Gamer (If GPU is necessary for just thinking about the build, then assume it will be a R9 270x 2G) People always argue about how less the 6700k different from 4790k ( from what i saw on the Internet ) ,so i wonder in the area of 3D-Rendering, which base should i go with and why? Or is there any better base you can think of (in terms of cost / effectiveness) ? p.s. Future proof may take place in the consideration.
