Phillyphries got a reaction from Trik'Stari in The Queen's Speech - More snooping powers
.... Does everyone just get free stuff in the UK these days?
Seems like the government there is totally in your shit 24/7 no offense

Phillyphries got a reaction from Meladath in Nvidia Pitches Advantages of G-Sync Over AMD's FreeSync
lol sure lets pitch something where there's a entirely free alternative from a good competitor
G-sync should really die. There's no reason for it to exist anymore

Phillyphries reacted to .spider. in Xbox ones across the nation will no longer suck power when off
Uh you mentioned earlier that you pay .6USD/kWh60000USD/.6USD/kWh=100,000kWh
Looks more like a small factory instead of a small house.

Phillyphries reacted to Glenwing in AMD x86 16-core Zen APU detailed
Looks like AMD's whole "APU" marketing completely backfired lol... Now the word is instant poison in the community.
A CPU with powerful integrated graphics? Alright!
But an APU?? Blehh terrible no thanks!!
Properly programmed for though, APUs with HSA support will blow a regular CPU out of the water in computing, all the better if AMD's new x86 architecture is good

Phillyphries reacted to GoodBytes in Microsoft Open Source Windows Definitely Possible
They are talks about making Windows free.
Windows 10 free upgrade offer is just the first step, and Microsoft testing the waters. They are switching to a service company.
If they are able to achieve this (meaning people buy Apps from the store, uses more Office 365, Music Pass, Azure (businesses), and so on), Windows will be free. And when we reach this, expect Microsoft to make it open source.
I expect a partial open source at first. Maybe the kernel open source, and see how it goes. Like it was said on interview. Who will have the the version that would be installed on most systems. Are the consumers ready for this new level of complications?
All I would see is that Microsoft would be the head manager of the open source distribution. Meaning all goes to Microsoft, and they pick (or by vote) the best direction/improvements and they distribute the OS.

Phillyphries got a reaction from mr moose in Are the people at HP high....?
Have to agree with the other members stating that Carey is somewhat unlikable.
I live in the same state as that man, and please do not think that most of us are like him lmao.
While he does have some good material in his videos, it's awfully hard not to get tired of his bashing nonsense that lasts for at least 30 minutes per episode. His editing skills are horrible, and his videos are too drawn out. Basically, 10 minutes of actual work in an hour long video... Combined with his baseless rants, it infuriates me sometimes.
I noticed that he disabled comments in some of his videos, and said something like this in the video description: "Comments are disabled to prevent the unruly students from disrupting the class." What a tool.
P.S. I work in a tech support position in my retail store, and I can confirm that a lot of those HP computers do come into the store for some kind of service. However, it is very unlikely that it's a hardware issue. I want to say, at least in my experience, 85% of them are in for virus removals. And the customers that bring them in, are the exact demographic that @mr moose is describing. Many of those computers have survived for an average of maybe 3 years or so, and don't really show signs of failure yet.

Phillyphries reacted to Slick in Carey Holzman says some stuff about LTT.
Fractal Design : Once of our closest sponsors
Josh from Fractal Design : Publicly a friend of ours
Very recent video largely destroying their product :
Description : "Well, if you like seeing me disappointed in a product, I guess you'll enjoy this Core 3500 case review..."
BTW Linus and I collaborated on this review
ALSO
Dark Rock pro 3:
They have been a sponsor before... I called the installation experience "horrific"... Soooo yeahhhhh
Honestly guys I could come up with near endless examples for this
Pretty disappointed that this is even happening BUT at the same time I'm happy people were willing to discuss it openly on the forum!
I'm happy we talk about things like this and get over them together rather than let them drive us apart in the long run - Communication is key and I'm with you forever baby <3

Phillyphries reacted to LinusTech in Carey Holzman says some stuff about LTT.
Pretty disappointed in a lot of the comments in here. I'm open about what goes on over here, and I really thought you guys knew, appreciated and respected that.
When I say I don't get paid for something, it means I didn't get paid for it. I like SHIELD because I like it. NVIDIA hasn't done a single sponsorship with us since the very beginning and it was very small. I've done more business with AMD than NVIDIA... several times more.
As for Corsair, if I don't like it, I'll say something. You think they paid for me to call their product "corporate"? They're a gaming company:
Unreal.

Phillyphries reacted to mr moose in Are the people at HP high....?
You totally miss the point, this computer is not aimed at ordinary people who want to learn how to build a pc, his arguments are moot because people who are not into tech do not care what screw they used, what PSU/mobo or CPU combo it has, they just want to send emails, surf the web and use facebook. Also HP mass image all their machines before they ship so if the sata cable was unplugged, not only it would have failed the image but be only one in hundreds of units to have an issue of any kind. Nearly all his arguments as to why it's shit rest on a flawed premise that the consumer needs more power and the pc cost more than it's worth.
Carey is an arrogant and self important.

its not really delayed if videos are constantly being uploaded ~24 hours after one another
Vessel just ensures that you'll get "future releases" early.

1.) Stop whining like a little kid
2.) They probably have a practical reason for having you save the money, like a car, insurance, or school
3.) You don't need a new case to have a functional computer, heck you don't even need a case. Motherboard boxes work like a test bench.
4.) My parents barely let me buy a $500 laptop for school, let alone build a good desktop for myself (I worked two jobs my last two years of high school and got good grades). They authorized over $2k of work to be done on my first car that I paid for which was only worth 2k in the first place. The car I replaced that with had to have the engine replaced for $3200 plus I still owe like $2k on top of that. But you don't see me complaining to a bunch of random people on the internet because at least I have a functioning car, and I was able to drive back from spring break safely.
5.) If you are actually old enough to be using vulgar language, then you should be old enough to get a real job and earn money that they can't legally touch or tell you what you can and can't do with it.
LIFE GETS EXPENSIVE, and EVERYONE has to deal with it

Your parents are teaching you to be more responsible with your money. It may not seem like it now, but you'll realize it when you grow up.
And you have a lot of that to do apparently lol
The level of maturity of this forum...

Phillyphries reacted to sgloux3470 in Anyone else feel bad for AMD? I do.
Doesn't matter how well AMD performs when you only have 1/4 market share and everyone is only paying attention to Nvidia. All the reviewers have sweet deals with Nvidia too so they always shill their shit day one.
Look at how much attention people gave the 960 of all things. You had people putting out multiple videos for each after market variant when it's a mediocre card that doesn't even beat the competition from three years ago. (7970/280x)

I feel bad for the die-hard Nvidia fans.

Phillyphries reacted to deadher0 in Microsoft wants to put Windows 10 on your Android phone
Cortana? What I just said above his post?
Why are people acting like there are absolutely zero reasons to own a Windows Phone? That idea is an uninformed opinion at best. I mean, I love a fun pitchforkfest and hatewagon ride as much as the next guy, but come on. -.-

Everyone and their mother has used an iOS and an Android phone in their life. There are things that make Windows Phone a great experience.
"Buyers remorse". Ignorant.

Phillyphries got a reaction from Speedbird in Microsoft wants to put Windows 10 on your Android phone
The real thing here is that I want a phone that can multiboot from different ROMS, whether Android or Windows.
This is one step closer... A Lumia phone that can run Android? That would be fucking awesome

BTW, your profile pic perfectly expresses the way I fell about being forced to buy an upgrade for Windows every single time an old one, which I paid for, is no longer 'supported'.

This is actually good for me as I can no longer activate my copy of Windows (had to install it several times while overclocking and deciding on which HDD to use)
