Phillyphries reacted to Eigenvektor in Java 8: How do I do an API request in Java 8?
Any reason you're still stuck on Java 8? In any case, there are many ways to make API calls. Personally, I would try to avoid doing all the low level stuff by hand these days.

For example you could use OkHTTP, which works on Java 8 or newer. And if the API is HTTP based, then Retrofit is a good library to use on top of OkHTTP. It allows you to write a simple interface, containing a few annotated method. You can call these methods like other regular Java methods and under the hood they will make the appropriate HTTP API calls for you.

I'm not surprised that many of LTT superfans are in defensive mode, but Steve's video was very fair in my opinion as a long-time viewer (and supporter) of the channel and LTTStore. I was there watching in the NCIX days. The garage days. Even had a dang Vessel membership.

I am disappointed in Linus' response to the situation. Adam was correct in wanting to retest the product properly. It is not just Linus' integrity that he damages in that situation, his employees also share the backlash by association. Anyways, the video alone was one thing, auctioning off the prototype is some wild negligence from the top-down that I can't even imagine in my head. How many hands did that thing touch to get all the way to auction before someone at the top realized they were supposed to send the product back? Linus statement on the issue personally reads like, "We are paying for this to go away, so I wish everyone would let it go."

"It saddens me how quickly the pitchforks were raised over this." It saddens me how this company has known quality control has become such a problem and over time it seems like nothing has changed, or if there were changes, not big enough to stop a 2-minute video from having like a hundred asterisk corrections. How often do we hear you and Luke complain about people spreading misinformation over the internet, when LMG in some ways is guilty of the exact same thing.

Agree with this. The points made in the video made me pretty much ignore any possible petty reason it was made in the first place.

Oh yeah. Your team thought let's auction it even though you were told not to two times and then later label it as miscommunication.

And throwing $800/$1000 to the Billet Labs to make them quiet will not solve their problem. The prototype that they sent you were the working ones which they relied on and their work is delayed. And now don't even know when and if you ever had the intention to make ammends, paying them for their water block does not solve anything. Stop being ignorant and own up to it.

(like the fact that we didn't 'sell' the monoblock, but rather auctioned it for charity due to a miscommunication... AND the fact that while we haven't sent payment yet, we have already agreed to compensate Billet Labs for the cost of their prototype).

Linus....it doesn't matter whether you sell it or give it away with or without financial gains, it's a dumb mistake and "miscommunication" should not happen in the first place, just own it and be better, your team is getting incompetence and it's showing, it's like i am watching a bunch of barbarians that never uses a computer to do reviews on computer products, it's funnily bad, there is a balance of everything, you're getting too much ego and too much "fun unseriousness entertainment" over serious tech review with accurate data which all tech channels should be accurate in the first place while you can still be funny and entertaining to watch.

Buy the best you can afford when you can afford it. other wise it's just time not enjoying what you could have in your pc now.   Tomorrow will always bring a different product, sometimes a better one, sometimes a cheaper one and sometimes a dodgy one, there is no point in waiting to find out if there is something worth buying today.

Definitely grab the 1080ti now. You don't really want to play the waiting game, because you might be burned/disappointed in the end while having to wait all that time for a new card.

    @ 1440p 144hz a 1080ti is perfect.

Playstation Plus as a requirement for online service is still *kinda* in its infancy still and XBOX Live (I don't really care if you're a diehard PC gamer) has a reputation for being quite nicely maintained and it just works and has been for a long time.

Also I don't know the sales of XBOX One exclusives compared to PS4, but I assume a lot of it has to do with that for sure. The other stuff really is the same. Maybe slightly better on PS4 due to slightly higher resolution.
