Just curious: How many of you guys leave your PC on 24/7, and why? I leave it on, mostly because I don't want to deal with boot times. (No ssd)

Has ANYONE seen a vid from B team yet? I thought they had one, but then Diesel "messed" up the editing and then Linus appeared.. SUSPICIOUS DIESEL, SUSPICIOUS.

a quick survey about tea and coffee. awesome poll inside.
Phillyphries replied to ShiverMePenguins's topic in Off Topic
I like coffee and everything, but totally not obsessive over it at all. Thing is, I get really jittery after drinking coffee. I drink it maybe occasionally, but I don't think I'll ever be addicted like most people I do know -
Well, you have a point

Who has an Apple Product of some kind?

Should add a poll to this thread -
Game compatibility with W8 is exactly the same as W7 as far as I've experienced. Every game I own on steam works 100% so idk how everyone else got theirs to mess up completely. Strange. Also I never had this problem.. Ran W8 since a week after launch. Working like a champ

Epic Battle For Supremecy, AMD vs Intel Trailer.
Phillyphries replied to EmmaLong's topic in Tech News
Holy crap, that trailer was DOPE. It was like Tron Legacy mixed with the first GI Joe hahah. -
I've been really annoyed by UnboxTherapy as of late, but Lew used to run a pretty good tech channel. Too many changes and honestly he's reviewing stuff that is way too old and generic nowadays
-
It looks really good, honestly if they added support for stuff like that in the service pack, I'll love W8 even more than I already do

Condition and lift every morning for football. Also passing tournaments every week.. Vacation to California every year.. Good stuff like that

Who has an Apple Product of some kind?
Phillyphries replied to Geekazoid's topic in General Discussion
No apple products. STILL USING MY ZUNE HD LIKE A CHAMP BABY Though everyone else in my family has iPhones and iPads and iPods. I like to be different though -
My dad. It wasn't much at first, but I was the only one in the house without a PC, and I am the only one who is so knowledgeable about them too haha. It was ironic till I got to pick out parts for Christmas. I made sure to build on a strict budget though, and upgrades YEARS later. Back then I was playing not-so-hardware-draining games like COD:MW2, and Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, Napoleon TW, etc.

So next year is too far away? If I bought an 8350 now I wouldn't really need to upgrade for maybe 2-4 years actually. Which I did buy one for the home PC because I do heavy transcoding and encoding on that machine. It's not power consumption that's bad, it's how we create power, which we're currently working on. I doubt global warming will destroy the world before we come up with something better than what we use today. Also I don't overclock so my CPU stays healthy at the normal TDP. I buy the chip with the highest clock speed so I don't have to worry about screwing with voltages. Also, I know Intel has powerful and cool chips and all, but $400 is just ludicrous for a gaming machine. Buy a $200 CPU and put the rest in a great GPU, and you'll have the biggest bang for your buck. Enthusiast machines are too overrated
-
That's true, but I have no care in the world for power consumption as electricity isn't too expensive here anyway. And you said "there is", not saying what is to come, which will most likely favor AMD
-
AMD is easily the best option for people who want to max out games, and not have to pay for more than they need to.. A $340 CPU from Intel's top class or $200 top class from AMD hmmmm.. The choice is pretty obvious to me, js. And for the *now* seeing that all new consoles will be using AMD 8-core architecture, the choice is even underlined in blue sharpie to me. I feel like Intel can brag about how much faster their processors are in single core or dual core applications, but in the future I think AMD will be the one bragging, and even improving their lineup with even better CPUs than the 8350. Their 8-core architecture will be more mature by then.

NZXT Announces Phantom 530 Chassis
Phillyphries replied to everything count to life's topic in Tech News
They REALLY need to make the top bezel smaller.. Can't put my harsh feeling towards such unnecessary size due to that stupid bump on the top! Everything else is fine, but the case needs to shrink in height.. My 410 hardly fits on my desk platform, all because of the lame top.. They seriously couldn't make it look simple, but "phantom-y" at the same time? The front looks awesome though -

Clocks made out of old Motherboards! Cool or not?
Phillyphries replied to ANIMAL_ORIGIN's topic in Off Topic
Looks cool, but probably more of something you put in your den or office than in a livingroom or something haha -
Lights on my Phantom 410 is cool sometimes, but totally not cool when it's time to sleep..

Installing Win98SE on older-newer (like 2004-2008) PCs for my Dad's work, as he uses older CAD software. Always a pain in the ass when you can't find chipset drivers for newer boards. Sometimes I have to go, and search for compatible hardware myself. Super annoying. I believe last week I tried installing Win98SE on a Dell 530s... It took me about two days just to install the damned OS (Had to create my own SATA-boot disk because of DOS not recognizing SATA DVD-ROM drives..) And after trying to install drivers that I thought would work.. Alas, it didn't. So wasted half a week.
